work from home dress code (1 Viewer)

I wear whatever at home.  Since we use Microsoft Teams, there's no camera to worry about.  If I'm not going out, shorts and a T-shirt is fine.  If I'm doing site visits, I'll have on jeans and my shoes that I wear for site visits/hiking/etc.

As I type this, I have on T-shirt, shorts, slippers and a blanket over my shoulders as my mancave can get chilly plus I'm always cold due to being on blood thinners.

As with most people here, it is sweats and a t-shirt every day.  I tried dressing up once early on, as I read that was supposed to put you in work mode more than dressing like a slob.  It was uncomfortable, and I found pointless, so I never went back.

I had one Zoom call, and half the people had their camera off, so I just shut mine off as well.

Camera optional at my normal meetings, so I'm wearing cargo shorts and the rattiest most worn-out tee shirts from the back corners of my closet every day. I'll save the wear & tear on my better clothes for (hopefully) better days ahead.

Camera is optional although I always have it on. Business casual for meetings with clients. I do business casual for internal meetings also, although many will dress down with ball caps, sweat shirts/t-shirts, etc....

I usually wear clothes when I'm home.  If I have a video call I'll put on business casual clothes for the call.

Usually shorts and a nice looking v-neck t-shirt or a polo. I have Zoom calls every day so I want/need to look halfway presentable.

Haven't worn pants since March except for one time last month when I had to make a video to show off my socks (which I also haven't worn since March). Long story, don't want to type it out.

18 months later, i'm shorts and tees every day.

and i'm starting to feel slovenly because of it. when we have group/team meetings the dress of others seems to be sliding further and further in to homeless looking.

finding myself looking to pick up more formal clothes. not multiple cheap polo's, but nicer, more expensive & versatile clothing that i can feel like a human in again.

Also shorts & tees, but not feeling any desire to change that.  Basically never use the video on work meetings.

In cold weather I'll go with flannel pants and a flannel over the t-shirt.

I found some real nice no-iron plaid button-ups at Kohl's for like $15.  I've been rockin' them and some khakis for the two days I go into the office.

Remaining 3 days I'm in a t-shirt and likely a hat.   Even if we have calls w/ video.  For our company-wide call on Thursday mornings I'll ditch the hat though.

The normal, attire pre-pandemic. was suit, shirt and tie. The WFH for 16 months attire was shorts and a t-shirt. I started back in the office in July and when I looked at my dress shirts--especially the white ones, they were disgusting from hanging in my closet unused for so long. Plus the Covid-25 weight gain I packed on presented problems. I ended up throwing a bunch of dress shirts away because of this.

Sort of as a tangent to this thread----I have basically had to start over with a new wardrobe. Now keep in mind, I am planning on retiring here with a floor of 6 months to a ceiling of 18 months, so I didn't want to go too crazy. I found myself at the absolute surprise store that I never shopped in at all----JcPennys. Wow, have I found some bargains on dress-shirts there. They have a clearance rack that is restocked weekly and I am not kidding, high-quality, brand name dress shirts for $15.00 to $20.00. I have an absolute crap-ton of ties, but I wanted to refresh my collection to go with the new shirts and again a place I would never have been caught dead in, but Goodwill. My 17 year old daughter loves  to go thrifting and looking for retro stuff. The qualify of ties that I have found is incredible. I mean ties are expensive and Goodwill has racks and racks of them (a lot with tags still on them) for 2.99--sometimes 3.99. I walked out with 4 gorgeous, brand new ties for less than $20 and buying just one of them anywhere, would have cost $35.00--$50.00.

I used to be a clothes snob, but there are bargains to be found.

Very casual, at least to start the day. I get up around 5am, start ☕, let the dogs out and log in... I don't bother looking in the mirror but I know my hair looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket.

I usually work till 9am and then finally shower... Throw on some cargo pants and a t-shirt and I'm good for the rest of the day... I have closet full of business casual clothes that haven't seen the light of day for a year and a half.

Today was bike shorts day in my office for the first few hours. Then basketball shorts, shirtless.
tomorrow will be robe day.
