Worst kickers in the league (1 Viewer)

Clearly Martin Gramatica should not be on an NFL roster.

I think Vinatieri is pretty awful as well, and is coasting on past success at this point.

Feel free to add your own . . .

As a Colts fan, I completely agree with your list. Plus, Vinatieri is one of the highest paid kickers in the league. I'd gladly dump him and use his salary on another DT.

The Saints drafted a rookie kicker from Wisconsin named Taylor Melhaff.

I thought the kid would be great for the high powered Saints, but he narrowly lost the pre-season competition to Grammatica. Martin had a good pre-season as well, but he looked bad tonight.

Of course I know all this because I drafted Melhaff in my dynasty rookie draft and had to drop him. Nothing like following a pre-season kicker battle. :moneybag:

I say pick him up now! He will be on their squad sooner than later. Unless Carney gets the axe this week from the G-men.

I never understood why the Saints dropped Carney for Gramatica. I know he's old and has lost some kicking power, but Gramatica has never been clutch. As a Saint's fan I now hate him more than Shockey!

Mild understatement. I thought I was about to witness a player faint on the field. Total chode.

I don't follow Kickers, but can someone confirm if Carney is in danger of getting cut? I was planning on picking him up this week.

just read akers is 3-14 from over 40 the past 2 years. -biz-
Yep, but nearly perfect inside of 40 and still has a strong leg. Akers is a tough one to figure out. A lot of those long distance misses are heart-breakers bouncing off uprights, not big shanks.Definately in the conversation as "worst" ATM, but might well bounce out of it. Gramatica is a differant story. Guy jumps around celebrating after a long FG like he just won the super bowl, then hides and cries like a baby when he misses another fairly long one. I'm shocked that any coach would want him on their roster. He's WAAAAAAAAYYY too emotional for an NFL kicker.

Lawrence Tynes is now healthy and ready to resume his role, but Coughlin seems reluctant to drop Carney (since he's been perfect on the season thus far). They did extend Tynes's contract and paid him rather nicely for a kicker so it is bound to happen.

It's kind of amazing when you think about it that kicking is so difficult that you can barely find 20 or so men that are really good at it... It's a job that you can make several hundred thousand a year to a million and of all the high school, college, soccer players, only about 1 or two a year are NFL above avg quality... It doesn't look like it would be, but it must really be an art form!
