In the team picture, I agree. Not nearly as bad as Gomes, tho...and I realize that's saying a lot.Team picture has to have Adam Dunn in it
It's been comical today. In 6th, a fly ball bounced off the palm of his glove and rolled to the fence. In the same inning, a laser was hit to him...he takes a step in and then reverses back...ball flies over his head for a GR double. It's little league stuff out there. Seriously, it looks like he has no idea what he's doing out there. This must be a reference to today's game which I did not see. I think gomes is known to be a DH so it's not out of the norm for him to probably not be that great in the field. Mind expounding on why you think this? I've never seen him play out there.
Well I'm going to two Tigers/Rays games in August. I'm hoping I get to see this in person. It's been comical today. In 6th, a fly ball bounced off the palm of his glove and rolled to the fence. At least he pretended to give a darn unlike Pat the Bat.Pete Incaviglia
Couldn't disagree more. I'll let Sox fans chime in on this one, but for whatever deficits he has making a play on the ball, I've never seen any LFer play the Monster better than Manny. He's wicked sneaky in making outs from what would otherwise be surefire doubles given any other LFer out there at Fenway. He's nowhere near incompetent as a fielder. Limited, yes. Incompetent, no.If you're talking starting defensive LFer in the present game, the discussion starts and ends with Manny.
Limited range with no effort. If Manny had the choice to dive for a ball, or let his girlfriend die. Manny would have had more girlfriends than Chamberlain by now.Couldn't disagree more. I once saw Pete run back to the wall and make a leaping catch at the Vet. I was sitting in the left field foul territory that game. No shtick, I couldn't believe my eyes.At least he pretended to give a darn unlike Pat the Bat.Pete Incaviglia

No joke. My grandma could play a better LF than Gomes.I assume this is a joke?In the team picture, I agree. Not nearly as bad as Gomes, tho...and I realize that's saying a lot.Team picture has to have Adam Dunn in it
Two things. First I was referring to Dunn. Second I didn't realize this was D only. My bad.No joke. My grandma could play a better LF than Gomes.I assume this is a joke?In the team picture, I agree. I disagree.Luzinski was the same kind of nimble-fatguy as John Belushi and Chris Farley. He could move around a little bit.He was certainly no Gold-Glover, but he was decent patrolling his corner of the Vet.Worse defensive OF I ever saw: Dave Kingman. He had the grace of Herman Munster.Greg Luzinski was a pretty bad LF in his Phillie days. The DH was created for people like him.
