Would a half season Sunday Ticket be a good idea...? (1 Viewer)

Obviously Sunday Ticket has changed the way we watch the NFL. As a season ticket holder though, I usually eschew getting it because I struggle to justify the expense since I'll essentially miss half the games. That said, I have gotten it before twice.

But I wonder how many NFL season ticket holders think like me in the sense 'hey, that's great, but I really can't take advantage of it because I'm consuming the NFL in person'.

Might it be a good idea for DirecTV and the NFL to try and offer a package that offered a half season package at a 30-40% discount? Perhaps in order to control people taking advantage of the offer in masse, only homes where a season ticket account is registered would be eligible. Then determine it's popularity based on such a limited release. Trying to seen if I'm off my rocker here.

you can normally get it halfway through for a discounted price.

a better idea would be to allow the red zone channel alone w/o having to buy sunday ticket. if they don't separate them this year, I won't be buying the ticket.

especially after I saw a commercial from them saying that if you signed up now, you can get sunday ticket for free.

But that involves me having to do the legwork...which I'm not opposed to doing. Plenty of people do it...and I guess from a business standpoint you can argue 'list it as this and discount it to 60% of this'...but whether it's RZ channel or whatever, now that Sunday Ticket has become such an integral part of the NFL landscape, perhaps they should provide some mor ala carte options not to mention instituting q loyalty program of sorts that tracked info ucla consumer dollar spend. For me, whether it's half season ST or RZ alone...you could price these at a point where it still makes sense to buy it whole if that's the way you are going to consume it..but offer it at individual price points for situational users.

I will be streaming either NFL Redzone or any really good games again this season. Yeah, I wish I had Sunday Ticket but it isn't in the budget right now.

The lockout equaled cancelling the Sunday Ticket for me.
Curiously, why?At the end of the day, assuming what's been widely reported comes to pass,, no games will be lost.Major off-season events like the draft and free agency will have taken place. For all the rancor in the off-season...we got an economic model that seems palatable to both sides that could last as long as 10 years...maybe longer. No doubt that the off-season has been a drag, particularly for those who follow the NFL 12 months a year. But ultimately how put out have we been?

I'm in the same boat as you with being a season ticket holder. I cancelled finally since I was essentially paying twice as much per game I actually got to watch on Sunday Ticket. If they were going to do this they would need to do it with a weekly subscription model, not a half season one since different people would want different weeks. They did have this one of the first years of Sunday Ticket if I remember correctly, I believe as a result of a lawsuit they lost. But they must not have gotten many people who subscribed as it was dropped the next year.
