Would Dallas be any better with Romo still healthy? (1 Viewer)

Kitna is doing a hell of a job at QB. I'm not so sure Dallas' situation (win/loss) would be any different if Romo would have never gotten hurt. What do you guys think?? Discuss

I think so. Romo is definitely a better QB than Kitna. Also, Romo is MUCH better at throwing the deep ball, which has been there over and over again. However, now Romo will be coming back, but the offense will be minus Dez.

If Romo doesn't get hurt, the team likely goesn't go into the tank on Phillips, and he doesn't get fired, so this little resurgence with Garrett as the interim head coach probably wouldn't be happening, so their record would probably be about the same (with maybe an extra win or two in late October/early November and one less win or two in the last month).

If they would have ran the ball more with Romo they would have had a lot more wins. Kitna hasn't made many mistakes but the defense has been bailing them out big time. Two games where their defense doesn't score and they lose two more games with Garrett. Romo is the better QB (better arm, more mobility) but who knows how the playcalling would of been with Romo.

Is he suppose to come back WK15 or WK16?
The word is week 15.
hard to imagine them switching if kitna leads them to another win next week. they'd be 4-0 under garrett and with kitna if roy didnt fumble on thanksgiving.
That doesn't mean that they will think Kitna is better. He definitely isn't the QB of their future so it serves no purpose. Especially since Romo has already been throwing at practice. Not only that... it only makes sense to get Romo into this new scheme, under Garrett, and get him some gametime. Let alone the fact that Romo wants to play, and they know that fans want him back.Romo will return if he is healthy enough.

Kitna is a gritty leader. Aikman said the players love playing for Kitna. For all of Romos flair he tends to turn the ball over at crucial times and in big games.

I would say that it is a wash.

Discomfort in shoulder

Tony Romo (broken collarbone) admitted Sunday that he is still feeling discomfort in his left shoulder.

Six weeks after his injury, Romo is having trouble laying on his left shoulder and can't drive the ball when he throws it in practice. At this point, it would seem crazy to rush Romo back. The Cowboys have won three of their last four games with Jon Kitna and collarbones are highly susceptible to re-injury.

Absolutely no.

Romo will look good in a Vikings jersey next season.

As a Cowboys fan I can't wait for him to be gone.

He really missed his window playing doctor with Jessica and those windows in NFL careers are small. I also have always felt he was PRIMO backup QB material, but not franchise QB. I've always said he would be one of those guys that was good enough to get you really excited, but not good enough to satiate a team championship. He proved me wrong for the last couple seasons as I felt like his playing style and size really would make him an injury liability. Now, I look back to the day that Jerry wrote out that contract and stand by my words of disbelief.

I wish Romo well, but I hope my Boys find a different franchise guy.

:porked: from a lions fan of course.
I love what Kitna brings. He is gritty. What that guy did playing for that Lions team was nothing short of incredible. He deserves lot more respect. He's a better quarterback than Romo. I can't say necessarily that he is a worse athlete, just different. Kitna is solid.

Kitna is a good backup. He lacks zip on his ball, his movement in the pocket is limited and even though Romo can make a lot of mistakes at times, Kitna can be worse.I think Romo should sit out the season and rehab it for next year, let Kitna finish out the year.

Yes they would be better, not even close
Finally a comment in this thread that makes sense.Kitna has been a great backup QB. But he is just that. A backup. He has repeatedly missed guys deep. Romo hits a lot of those throws. I am really glad to have Kitna around. But lets not go overboard. The passing game is no where near as good with him as the QB.

Ifkitna hadn't been injured and traded and oncrappy teams and had a chance to play he might be a shoo in first ballot Hof ER

I thought Romo is signed through 2013. At least according to Rotoworld. Is this inaccurate?

Its really a shame when people mix up fantasy football and reality. Romo is a top 7-10 QB to say he is a PRIMO backup is an insult to everyones intelligence.

Romo has talent, but he seems to play his worst in big games.

Romo >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kitna. There are about 26 teams that would make Romo their starter. There are about 2 that make Kitna their starter. If the Dallas players hadn't totally quit on the season before Wade was fired this discussion would never be taking place.

Man, I've watched all the games... and I've never rostered Romo as a fantasy player. I certainly wouldn't have confused my playoffs with sipping drinks in Mexico with Jessica.Again, Romo is a good talent... he's just not a franchise guy. Now that he has put more of his mind into it he's gotten hurt. I attribute that to just not being a great physical specimen at the position. He's never been the answer. Actually he was... they already missed their chance with him. The chances have gone waaaay down IMHO. I'd give up my next 2 drafts for a Peyton Manning... which Romo is not.

Yes... I'm hoping he is traded....

He's never been to the Super Bowl, so how would we know? We seem to change our definition of "Big Games" all the time. For years Peyton Manning had that stigma, didn't play well in Big Games. Then he won some Big Games and the Big Game turned into the Super Bowl. Then he won the SB and the Big Game people moved on to another QB, some of them Tony Romo.Romo's played fine in all kinds of games. He played great against New Orleans in New Oreans in a must win game for the Cowboys last year. That was the game where Tony Dungy told the Cowboys before the game don't even get off the bus. Tony Romo tore them up.In 2 games against the Eagles that were must win games last season, he tore them up, he played fantastic. In a loss in Green Bay mid season, he and the entire offense struggled. In Minnesota where they were undefeated all season, he struggled because of the offensive line struggled to stay in sync with the snap count, they didn't block worth a crap. When Romo is healthy, he's honestly the least of my worries about winning any game. Tony Romo is one of the best players on the Cowboys if not the very best player. I'm fine with Tony Romo leading this team the next few years, in fact I'm more than fine, I'm excited about it. There are other areas on the Cowboy team that I am not excited about.

Romo isn't consistent... he's just not. Of course he has won some big games, that's his nature.. to win some, but not enough. It's hard to hate him since I was an avid Danny White supporter. Meaning I never thought the guy got credit. You have to admit Romo's "choke" percentage is high in playoff games. I think Romo's clock is ticking while we rebuild the Oline.. sometimes you have to go just a little backwards to go forwards. Now maybe he has matured the way I wanted him to and we just haven't seen it yet. But, he isn't and can't be Peyton.. sorry. Not that guy.
