Would Moss, Owens and Plax work on the same team? (1 Viewer)

Three years ago this would have been unheard of. That these three WRs would all be available, and all at a cut-rate price. Could be some great matchups against small DBs.

Could it work for a 1-2 year run? Throw in some little quick WR in the slot.

I don't think it would, simply because I imagine each of them still view themselves as more of a full-time difference maker than a complementary one.

What team would need all 3?In general, maybe - but I just don't beleieve any of them are even close to what they were even a few years back. Plaxico and Moss are both 35 and T.O. is 38 - father time catches up with even the greats.

OK, one WR is out of a prison stint, one quit on a few teams and the last one is the definition of diva burning through rosters one at a time.

No thanks.

No NFL team would be stupid enough to load up its WR roster with a bunch of old egomaniacs like this, to the detriment of players that need to develop. You're thinking like a fan and not like a GM.

I would watch every single game they were in, though...
Me too. I think two could work if the right team was without WRs and had a strong enough QB and coach to keep them in check (and had a chance of winning). Today, only one landing spot, IMO, would work and that is in SD (if they end up moving/losing Jackson and Floyd). Not saying they would want them (and am a little iffy if norv could control them), but it is the only place it could work. One of those two would have to be Plax. I believe he is 33 (today) and will be 34 when the season starts. I know there are questions about his being away from the game, but when you look at the last two guys to take time off (though they were more in their prime) in Ricky Williams and Vick, you may see a "little" trend where guys take a year off to re-energize. In the case of Williams, I definitely think he added a year or so to his career in taking that time off and letting his body recoup. I think the other WR would have to be TO; despite his age, he looked much better than Moss in 2010 as we all know. TO can act like a diva, but Moss is just flat-out crazy.

This is one of those scenarios that will never happen so if we are pretending why not a team like Carolina? No real WR to speak of. A bottom feeder franchise today. Bring them in for a year and watch them implode. May put fans in the stands. In one year hello Andrew Luck.

Cam Newton may not want to hear this though.

As an NC resident, and minor fan (they are my "NFC team")...I am all for it...especially since they will be living 3 hours from me versus in my own town...lol.

+1

At this point in their careers if these were the 3 top receivers on an NFL team, I would bet money the team did not make the playoffs unless it had a DOMINANT running game and the run-to-pass ratio was perhaps 3 (run) to 2 (pass).

When I think of those guys all lining up in the same uniform, I start humming the theme from "Charlie's Angels"...

I think all the big name FA will find a team next year but I think the two that have the best risk/reward are easily TO and Ocho. Being a Pats fan im also a pretty big Moss fan, but he burned a lot of bridges last year, he still has a lot of play in him but he has to be wanted or he wont play, maybe St. Louis, they would love him for sure, not seeing any other good fits. Vikings would be stupid not to resign Sidney Rice. Plaxico could go anywhere but I doubt he will pan out. TO had a great year last year despite having to be on the field at the same time as Carson Palmer which is detrimental to anyone thats job is to catch footballs. Ochocinco is only half way through his career.

To answer your question yes, I think they could and successfully, but it will never happen, even for free.

Why are we leaving out Ocho out of this mix(outside of the last post)?

Moss, Owens, Plax, and Ocho could all end up with SD, Chicago, Washington, NYJ(if they can't resign Holmes/Edwards).

If Al Davis gets a hold of this thread...WATCH OUT

I'm leaving out Ocho for two reasons:1) He's not a free agent (yet)2) He's still much more likely to be a full time, productive starter for another team

why take snaps away from and hinder the development of Gettis, LaFell, & Edwards?

Because those guys may not amount to anything, and if they do, they can do it by beating out R Moss, T.O. and Plax.
