Every idiot knows a professional NFL team would crush any college team presented to them. But could the scrubs consisting of players 70-90 on the bottom of an NFL preseason roster beat them?  I'm talking about the guys playing with less than 10 minutes left in this game.

For purposes of the question, assume the best CFB team this year (likely one of Bama, OSU, FSU and USC) will have at least 5-6 future first round picks playing for them.

The Cowboys QB right now is Cooper Rush. I've never heard of him. He played at Central Michigan. 23/16 TD/INT last season (2016). It's extremely likely all 4 college teams mentioned would have better QB play.

I was going to say it depends on QB on whether it would be close.  Still take the NFL squad but a horrible backup QB could make it close.

Arizona's QB is Trevor Knight, who had a very mediocre career at OU and TAMU. I think all 4 college teams would be expecting better QB play than him this year.

I'm not looking up the rest of these players but almost no names stand out to me.

Both of these QBs would be third-stringers, if they make the team at all. The second-stringers played the first half.

Nah. Almost none of these guys will be on a team a month from now. The college teams mentioned will have multiple top draft picks. I doubt there are many even 5th or 6th rounders out there right now. Most of the guys playing this 4th quarter were ok starters on mediocre college teams very recently.

Doesn't matter on anything other than coaches. I'll take a Nick Saban led Bama team over any NFL bottomfeeders led by anybody other than Belichick.

Pretty tough.  The high-end of the college team would be better that the high end of the pro team, but the low end would probably be much worse.  All I know is I would bet the over.

Both teams get August training camp and kick off 9/2. The game will be played at Tropicana Field (Beef's Bowl Annual Kickoff Classic presented by Bitcoin)
Playing it at the trop probably benefits the NFL scrubs since most of them likely played in the Beef's Bowl at some point.

I think that Game name is shtick but honestly can't tell.

Ill take the college team.

I'll pretty much always take Alabama when they're getting points, but especially against these bunch of also-rans, most of whom were playing CFB just last year on other teams because they weren't good enough to play for a team like Alabama..

Gotta figure a couple of those will flop and end up being middling players at best. Even if they're all studs, the rest of the college team probably isn't sniffing the NFL, even as preseason scrubs.

NFL guys win most of the time.

The college teams have more talent and are better coached.  Why would a bunch of scrubs who have hardly played together even have a remote chance.

I put it more like -14.5.

the difference isn't the QB.  The difference is in the O-Line and Front 7 as well as the special teams.
Alabama and Clemson's dline would be significantly better than anything out there last night.

It's not impossible that they would be but these would have to be some true 4th string players from nowhere and all rookies.  A third year guy who has been 2d string trying to catch on would be as good of not better than what bama or Clemson has.

NFL scrubs have more depth, size, and speed at the bottom half of the roster and would probably dominate special teams and line play..

Plus the NFL scrubs are older and stronger.  They are a lot more focused on football. They probably have a higher football IQ.  Some scout saw something in them, unless the team is just doing a favor for a local player inviting him to camp (Bills do this every year - not sure about other teams)

:lmao:

thinly veiled attempt here.

How many of Bama's starting 22 will be drafted or signed as UDFAs?   I'm only asking because I don't feel like looking it up.

I would guess 10 of their defensive players at least make it to a camp. Probably 7-8 offensive players.
That's what I'm thinking.   Gotta take the college team.  A bunch of 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders to go along with some camp body talent vs. Just camp body talent.

Do I get scrubs like Brady (6th round), Edelman (7th), Amendola (UDFA), Hogan (UDFA), Blount (UDFA) and Butler (UDFA)?

Scrubs in a blowout.  No top college team would risk their best players tearing ACLs on that dump of a field in a non-conference game.

Sure they would.  They'd be risking maybe one ACL at worst, but then they get to pitch the fact that they beat an NFL team to recruits.  Who's the one player that Bama loses that can't be replaced?
