Would this be a good fit? Edgerrin and the Saints (1 Viewer)

No inside info here, but could Edgerrin land with the Saints, the replacement for what they lost in Deuce?

I think he would be a great additon, and as a Pierre Thomas owner - I wouldn't sweat it out either

For the right price Edge makes sense to any team.

I've never really seen Edge as the bruising type of power back that I think the Saints want to use with Thomas/Bush.

I don't think he is the type of player Sean Payton is looking for to augment that running game. James is solid at breaking tackles, but he isn't a back who looks for contact and is not exceptionally good at moving the pile in short yardage situations. His build and running style is very similar to that of Pierre Thomas.

IIRC, Edge wants to go to a team that will feature him at running back. Even if he replaces Pierre Thomas, he'll still be sharing carries and touches with Reggie Bush.

The Saints need a short yardage specialist, and that has never been the strongest part of Edge's game. Edge would work better as a short-term fill-in for an injured player in a RBBC. He may not sign until injuries hit in August or September.

The best fit for Edge is retirement. He's had a tremendous career. Skills have diminished obviously, but he still has his health & he can take care of his kids.
