I am faced with a dilema, one that I think I know the outcome. I actually enjoy being at home or at the bar watching all the games but when the opp arises to go to a game be it the Phins or the Bucs I try to go. Just found out I am going to the Bucs home opener and I am excited cause they are playing the Cowboys. But part of me kinda wishes I could just find a little bar stool down here in South Beach and watch all the games. But if I am truly a fan shouldn't I want to go root my team on?

I am stoked about getting to see a game on NFL kickoff weekend.

What say you?

I absolutely love going to Cardinal games. I loved it when they sucked, and I love it now that they are kind of almost good. I really like the energy. There are eight other weeks to watch games, and if you have a Monday, Sunday, or Thursday night home game, that gives you another Sunday day to watch games.

9 weeks, actually, with the bye week. Life long Seahawks season ticket holder, I would rather be at the game than at home. I actually get to watch plays develop in the stadium, something that is difficult to do on TV with all the close up shots. Plus the energy of being in Qwest (and the Kingdome of old) is literally awesome. Nothing like it, to me. The one thing I miss is getting updates on fantasy stuff (they are getting better about it in the stadium) and injury news, etc. Just the small stuff they pass along all the time on TV, that you take for granted.

Also, I gave up buying stadium beer/food along time ago, and either get my fill before hand, or bring a little something with me for the game. Much happier, and cost effective, doing it that way.

Grew up going to Three Rivers Stadium, so I got used to going to the games. If price was not a factor I'd choose in person every time. As it is, I go to one game every year (parents still have their season tix) and I can't wait to go to the opener 5 weeks from tonight. :goodposting:

I have a pretty set routine on Sundays (and a wife who fully understands and supports it and always watches the evening game with me and will watch an earlier game if the Cardinals or Colts are on and she is home) - scouring for news, updates, setting lineups and usually helping customers on LIVE ADVICE...........and then sitting down with DirecTV and watching the players or games I want to see while updating my scoresheets with my laptop next to me on the couch.

That said, I would go to the spaceship to watch a Cardinal game on Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Thursday nights.

Those who enjoy being at the games even more can with all the electronic options available these days certainly keep up with their players until they get home.

I like watching the games at home because I don't have to be interrupted by someone saying excuse me, and having to stand up to let them through so they can go to the bathroom. Also, I can relieve myself in the TV timeout - at the stadium you always miss multiple plays when you go.

I enjoy the experience of the stadium occasionally and I like to take the kids, but for me, at home is the only way to watch the game.

How much, exactly, do you piss?

I prefer to watch it at home, when I'm at the stadium I kind of get lost in the experience and have trouble following the game for whatever weird reason.

I like a mix of both but would favor going to the games more if:

A. It was easier/faster to get in and out of Philly

(Hate missing the 4:00's travelling for a 1:00, 1:00's travelling for a 4:00, etc)

B. We had a good sized group of regulars/friends we could tailgate with and make the trip more worthwhile

C. They weren't $95 a pop (this is starting to hurt more and more each year)

I like sitting back surrounded by a bunch of TV's with every game on at the same time alot too

That's why we split season tickets for the Eagles, for now 4 games a year (5 with pre) is enough for me.

Both have advantages...being there you can tailgate, see live football, people watch etc. Staying at home is comfy, less time-consuming, cheaper, etc.

But for me there in nothing at home close to...nothing...the feeling of walking out of the tunnel/doors for the first time of the day into a full stadium close to kick. And that's magnified when it's a beautiful setting like RayJay and Opening Day.

 These poll results disgust me.

MOP,To me this is a no brainer. GO TO THE GAME !!!!!The atmosphere is so great at the stadium, it just cannot be beat. You can Tivo the other games and watch later, but never miss an opportunity to watch live and get crazy in the stands.I'm actually suprised at the poll results. Must be a bunch of fantasy only football fans responding. True fans of the game would much rather watch a game live.In my opinion :football:

I don't know, but it seems like everyone else has to go a ton when I am at the game.

I simply can not watch football with a group of people. There are far too many idiotic fans who just say the most ridiculous things and haven't a clue as to what is really going on outside of their blind homerism. Or, worse yet there is always a few people who want to try and be social butterflies and talk about everything under the sun other than the game. There are certain people I can watch games with but they are few and far between. If those guys/girls aren't around then I'd much rather just watch by myself at home let alone go to a game.

Or the game will suck and you're stuck watching a blowout or a snoozer when you could be flipping to 6 other games that actually have action going on. I may be crazy, but I actually like to SEE the game, as opposed to whatever you want to call the view from 30 rows into the bleachers with some jerk getting up to pee every ten seconds.

Actually, I think you get a better view live. TV doesn't show the play developing in its entirety. You just get a small window around the person with the ball. Live you can see the routes develop and better assess QB ability because you can see the receiver breaking open or the safety baiting. It's a much better view than you think.

Sitting at home watching all the games on my plasma >>>>> sitting in traffic 2 hours, sitting in the cold at Giants Stadium, then sitting in the car for 2 more hours. And I'm a Giants season ticket holder.

I'll go to one or two games a year but it's really not worth the effort. At home I am infinitely more comfortable, I can have whatever food and drink I want and don't have to pay through the nose for it, I can have as many or as few friends over to watch with me, my view of the game is better on the big screen than it is from my seats, and I can watch all the other games too. I know some people would kill me for my opinion but this is really a no-brainer to me. Home is way better than being there.

You also have no shot at home of experiencing the "I was There" moment or game.

Could be any game, any time....the Dorsett 99-yard TD run, the Bo Jackson MNF game, the Montana/Chiefs vs Elway/Broncos game, the Herm Edwards fumble return, the White Shoes Johnson Hail Mary...in Tampa, the Rams MNF game, the Bryant FG, etc.

I'm sure all of you voting for home would prefer sitting there last Feb instead of being in Tampa...but I'll be showing my grandkids my video:

...cause I was There!!

With the these results, I see that most of you guys aren't true fans. WOW! Fantasy football is secondary, if you're really a true FAN, you have to prefer to go to the games.......Gooooooooo Rayyyyyyyyy-duhhhhhhs!

I would probably answer differently if I actually had a home team (I live in Toronto). I've been down to several Bills games (despite the fact that I don't care about the Bills) and there are just too many loud idiots for me to really enjoy the game. I like to focus on the fine details of plays, and that's really tough to do when you're in the nosebleeds and the huge fat guy in front of you is spilling beer everywhere and constantly screaming "GO BIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLS!"

Flipping between games (Sunday Ticket) with a laptop in front of me is my preferred way of taking it all in.

went to FSU football games for 20 years. stop going about 5 years ago, just got old. rahter watch all sports at home or a bar

See sig for answer.

Watching all the games in my recliner... buddies bringing over lots of beer... good food that's been in the crock pot for 8 hours.

You can keep your live game experience.

I love FF, but not near as much as I love actual football. Doesn't it bother anyone that you can't see about 75% of the field on TV? If you are at the games you can see WR routes, defensive coverages, o-line vs d-line. On TV you just follow the ball. These results shock me.

Well, if I had your setup, I might consider changing my vote...

Not that difficult. Getting the extra TVs is the hardest part.It only requires one dish, one 8-way multiswitch (which they provide) and they gave me the extra 8 receivers for free.

I prefer to watch NFL games on TV but I prefer to go see college games live.

I don’t have a real good reason as to why that is, maybe fantasy football has something to do with it but I also get the impression that the college crowds are a lot more exciting and seem to be into the games more.

I agree. Also - replays in football are the best. The different camera angles are what makes watching the game on tv so much better. Nothing like seeing the linemen open holes up close. Penalty replays are great too. I have great seats at the stadium but I actually enjoy watching on TV better. I don't need the crowd to get me pumped. The game itself does it for me. I find that basketball, hockey, and even baseball (depending on the seats) are better in person. Not football.

well, if your team is the home team, I will say there is really no comparison to actually being at the game.

of course the atmosphere will vary from one stadium to the next, but hearing the crowd, watching the drunks in the stands, the cheerleaders, and everything else is something you just cant capture when you watch the game on TV.

there are exceptions of course, I have been to some stadiums (both cases I have noted were dome stadiums) where the atmosphere is so sterile and the sight lines are so bad that the game was not all that great to see live.

but I would say this is the exception and not the rule.

Live football rocks.

I think my ideal ratio would be 14 games at home, 3 games at the stadium (or maybe 15/2). While it's true you can see things at the stadium you can't at home, it's equally true you can see things at home you can't at the stadium (thanks to the beauty of instant replay), and I always hate not having any commentary at the stadium when, for instance, the star RB hasn't gotten the ball on back to back drives (is he hurt, or is the coach just losing his mind and going pass-happy?). Plus, since I lived in Florida, going to the games meant 90 degree heat and 90% humidity in the glaring sunlight. Air conditioning is my friend.

Still, the atmosphere at the games is always electric, and I couldn't give up live football entirely, no matter how much of an advantage watching at home might hold.

I disagree. To me, a football game is an event. There are only eight home games, so each one is big. People get there early and tailgate and eat and drink. It's a big party. It feels important. The crowd in football can actually influence a game (causing false starts is fun). There are bands and drums and cheerleaders and mascots and music. It's all very cool and I really enjoy it.In the other sports, they play so many games each one loses a bit of meaning. Who really cares if you lose one baseball game in the middle of the season. The excitement just isn't the same as it is at a football game.

I like live games so much I have Titans season tickets and Im a Packer fan.

Though, 2 kids have kept me home for all but 1-2 games a year the last 4 years...

Id rather tailgate with friends, enjoy good food and a few brews outside...get to my seats, the enjoyment of a flyby from time to time, the anthem...all of the energy...

Grew up going to Packer games and want my son and daughter going to games too if they want.

If I lived in the DC area, I would definitely want season tix for the Skins.

Living in Omaha, however, Chiefs game are really the only feasible team to go watch live. I used to go to one Chiefs game a year, but I actually passed on going to see KC-Seattle when my buddy offered me a free ticket a couple years ago, because the Chiefs suck, and they're no longer my favorite AFC team now that DT, Neil Smith, Okoye, etc. are all gone/retired.

I did go see the Redskins play at Arrowhead 4 years ago, but I passed on going down to see KC-Dallas this year with friends. I would rather watch my Skins play at the bar (along with all the other games).

Also, I go to every Nebraska home game, and we have a great tailgate setup, but it's a lot of work. I just want to relax on Sundays watching football at the bar, rather than waking up early on Sunday to drive to KC. Hell, it's hard enough for me to make it to the bar by noon on Sundays after a Nebraska game.

I agree with the others though, that if you live in your favorite teams city/area, and season tickets are affordable, going to all the home games is a no brainer. There's 9 other weeks during the nfl season where you can go to the bar or stay home and watch the games.

They should show the other games on jumbo-trons. It's pathetic that we are forced to wait for score updates on an outdated ticker.

I would prefer to go to the game if I had the opportunity - that way I'm not agonizing over the fantasy ramifications of every play of all the other games. Plus, it's cool to be there especially for a good rivalry game. But only if I lived closer or was somewhere where I didn't have to be back in SB for work on Monday.

I say enjoy the Bucs/Cowboys game, then meet with me and my buddy and we'll hit up some bars to watch the rest of the 4pm action. We will likely be hitting the town both Sat+Sun night.

For the most part though, I do like just watching the game in peace.

That was pretty cool. Up until the 20 yard line when the cameraman blocked your view...then at the 30 when someone stuck his arm in your face...then when some guy stood up in front of you with his big bald head...then when someone waved their terrible towel...then when the play was blocked by all the people on the sideline. You were there...and you had great seats...but you never really even saw the TD.

I like going to games, but can't wait to get back to the house and watch the Red Zone Channel on DVR.

ETA - My old roommates grandfather had 49ers season tickets since they played at Kezar Stadium. Fantastic seats. 45 yard line. Only problem was this one broad that also had season tickets one row in front of us. Literally, every 10 seconds, she would shout, "Go Niners!" For three hours. Every ten seconds. :donkeypunch:

I go to 1 Lions game a year. The problem is that I live in MN so I have to watch it in the Dome with thousand of Vikings fans. Nothing like watching your favorite team lose year after year in the other teams stadium. I voted for watching them at home. If I lived by Detroit and could go to 1 game in Detroit I think I would change my vote.

Isn't that ALOT easier to check AT the game? (Assuming you bring a pair of 'nocs) You can get a glimpse at any moment of whether said star RB is running on the sideline, sitting down or receiving attention from the med staff. As for the vote, I'm refraining because the only football game I've been to live was the Chiefs @ the Raiders at the Coliseum and I was too young to really understand the game so I just watched all the fights that broke out in the stands. I think I would NOT want to go EVERY home game though if my city did have a team.

 too many obnoxious morons out there. also I love when they scream obscenities despite little kids in plain view or scream and yell and squeal at the absolute top of their lungs at EVERY little thing. classy and makes for such a great experience.there's also the driving, parking, ridiculous ticket prices, even more ridiculous drink and food prices....let's see......that or no driving, no parking, no loud morons, WAY WAY comfier chair, can hear AND see what's going on so much better, MUCH better food for dirt cheap.......oh and best of all, no line at the bathroom. :)how this is not a no-brainer for anyone escapes me but to each their own. I'll watch at home. in fact I don't care if I ever go to another game and probably won't.

Yup, flying in Saturday afternoon and looking to hit up Ybor City/Channel Side clubs. Sunday tailgate, watch the Cowboys win, then Sunday night probably grab some dinner and watch more Football. If we aren't completely loaded by then, we be out again Sunday night. We fly home the next day. Can't wait! I hear RJS is a great place to see a game.I'll touch base closer to September and we'll figure something out.
