Would you start Nelson Cruz? (1 Viewer)

SIDA!

I think it is pretty ballsy to start Nelson Cruz in such an important game after he has been out of game action for two months. I don't think I would do it. What say the rest of you?

Yes. The Rangers have been DH'ing guys like David Murphy, Jurickson Profar, Jeff Baker (playing with a sports hernia), Adam Rosales, Geo Soto, Jim Adducci, Lance Berkman..... Yes, Cruz is a massive upgrade over those guys even if his timing is way off. HE has been playing in the AZ instructional league... not big league pitching, but better than nothing...

So what are your expectations? Are you merely hoping that he can sit on a fastball at some point in the game and take one yard?

I get that the other options aren't all that great and I am not saying I don't think Nelson Cruz is better. I am just not sure he is better, right now...for this game.

His presence in the lineup makes the team better. Cruz is streaky. No real expectations, but he can't be any worse than what's been DH last 50 games.... Really last 120 games.

I didn't get a chance to see his at bats, so not sure how he looked. I wanted to add something to this that I avoided earlier because it was a secondary issue to that single game at hand.

I have an issue with Texas putting him on the roster after the way he handled is PED suspension. I don't follow Texas that closely and I may be mistaken...but the last I heard was he told the team he was appealing/fighting the suspension. Then he decides to not appeal after the trade deadline.

Texas missed the playoffs by 1 game. And Cruz missed the last 50 games of the regular season.

He cost them their playoff chances and I would be f'ing livid with him if I was a Rangers fan, owner or teammate.

MLB threatened to double the suspension for anyone appealing and losing. Cruz didn't call their bluff... if that's what it was.
