Wouldn't u love for Jrs to have a "Junior Bowl" (1 Viewer)

Seems like it would take a lot of guess work out of it. I would love to see Vince in a traditional offense against NFL hopefuls..srs and jrsOr..Some Division 1-AA studs against I-A competiton...like it or not but Juniors have a huge impact on the draft

I think what you are going to see is more juniors invited to the all star games. this year the shrine game had manning from abilene christian and had cory rodgers from TCU before he pulled out. Everyone wants to see the juniors measure up against the seniors. Im just guessing here, but i would think that in the past no one wanted to encourage kids to go pro as a junior, playing in an all star game would be a reward. these days, with a good chunk of the top prospects being juniors every single year... well i think that its pointless to try to stem the tide. There's no reason to put a stigma on coming out early anymore.

:goodposting: So, it's not an actual rule? Just a preference by the All-Star games

its not a rule in the shrine game anymore. the shrine game had possibly their best rosters ever this year (thanks to john murphy) and if they get the drop on the senior bowl on inviting juniors, that game could get very close to the senior bowl in stature.

Would playing in these games affect their eligability? I'm no expert on NCAA rules and violations, but it would seem to me that they wouldn't want any Juniors playing in these games that were planning on returning to school the next year.Anyone in the know?

It would but these games would only include Juniors who had declared for the draft thus denouncing their eligibilty anyway...ie Bush.Young, etc

Right. Juniors have to declare by 1/15 or so every year, and that deadline always comes before the games, which start roughly a week later with the Hula and Shrine games. And once you declare for football, unlike basketball, that's it. Sayonara. My hunch is that the Shrine game sees this as a potential future niche. Hard to invite juniors to the "senior bowl," so unless they want to re-brand, I look for John Murphy and co. to get some of the hottest juniors to the Shrine game.

I remember a little while back, one of the bowl games let a junior play. I swore it was the Senior Bowl, but I could be wrong. The guy's name slips my mind right now but I can picture him. He was a corner from Florida St and I believe ended up on the Bengals.* I remembered his name, Corey Sawyer (I think)

Juniors declare when they perceive their value to be extremely high. There's not too many second day draft picks among the declared juniors. Should Bush, White, Mario, Ngata even play in an all-star game and risk having a bad week thus losing millions? I know the Hula Bowl is really hurting. It isn't what it used to be, and they are trying to make it popular again. I think they should invite all the juniors. They may have got Youboty, Simms, Cromartie, Maroney, or Calhoun. Who knows? Worth a shot. I bet Maurice Drew would like to be seen in a all-star game.

shrine game is hurting too. had to leave SF because they were drawing until 25K for the game. san antonio got a one year deal to host it. only drew in the 18K range. tickets were very inexpensive, between 9-25 bucks.
