Wow, does the Saints rushing game s*ck! (1 Viewer)

2 rushing TDs all year. Week 8 game PIT: 21-30-0 in a win, no less. They have broken 100 yards just twice this year in total team rushing (with 212 in week 6). Week 7 CLE: 18-58-0, I can live with, the game got away from them. Bush in 2 games: 7-19 (though he is 9-66-1 receiving). Week 2 SFO: 24-50-0, with Bush and Thomas. Is anyone really going to help here; or is their o-line so shot, that no one stands a chance? Is the move here not to have any NOR RBs?

When Pierre and Bush are back there they are pretty effective. Also, sometimes the Saints will just plan to pass the ball 80% of the plays for a particular matchup. I mean, what do you expect with Julius Jones, Chris Ivory and Ladell Betts anyway. When they call 80% pass plays you are still going to get some run plays on 3rd and 1 and goalline situations - which will skew the YPC a lot because you don't have many early-down, and situational, carries to pad the yards.

They have one of the better o-lines in the NFL, actually.

Another huge factor is that Pierre Thomas can run, catch and pass-block. The fact that they can leave him in in any situation leaves defenses guessing. It's just not the same when you see Ivory back there, you can expect a run - and vie versa when you see Betts in the backfield.

And here I thought Pierre wasn't that good and you could just throw in any RB in that "system" and they would flourish......
