WR Calvin Ridley, TEN (2 Viewers)

Shanahan was spot on about his comments on Lawrence earlier in the week. He hasn’t progressed or made much improvements. Does not look like that good of a QB. Combine that with Press Taylor’s scheme/play calling and it’s been rough.

Huh? Here's what Shanahan said ahead of week 10:

“I think Trevor is one of the more talented quarterbacks in this league. He’s a problem at any time,” Shanahan said on Wednesday. “The height he has, the size he has in that pocket. He can make any throw and what he can do with his legs on any type of play, whether it’s a design run for him or just getting out of the pocket and doing off-schedule stuff."

He was asked how he’s looked compared to his rookie year and he said very similar. I did not see the rest of the comment you posted here so sounds like it was wrapped in compliments about his talent so it may have been taken out of context.

That being said, not great if the QB looks very similar to his rookie season.

Lotta talk earlier in the year about this guy. Two years off for injury/mental health/gambling on football was way, way too big a risk. People didn't even get him on the cheap.

What a bubble.

Nothing wrong with Ridley or Trevor. The wrong AFC contender fired their OC. Pederson won't fire Taylor but I'm for sure holding out hope he pulls a Frank Riech and takes back the duties.

And I don't think it's crazy to cut Ridley in shallow leagues but I would try and refrain from it. I'll keep saying it, it's not him. It's coaching/scheme and that can literally change any week and typically when you get the crap beat out of you is the kind of thing that often leads to change.

I’m forced to start him this week due to byes. So I hope you are right. He’s been riding my bench, so I haven’t been watching his play as closely as I was when he was starting for me. So I appreciate this insight.

I don't think I would want to hand this guy over to someone you might see n the Playoffs as their 5th-6th WR or last guy on the bench by just releasing him.
It's an upgrade for many
What are you grabbing that's so good on waivers? Every league is different or slightly different
Agreed. Week 1 was a flash of what’s possible even though there hasn’t been much since.

I'm going to start him as well. I have some flexibility with my opponent being completely decimated by injuries and bye. He can't even start 1 QB in a 2 QB super flex league.

This seems like the kind of game where he'll go off.

When Zay Jones plays, he seems to run the dumb routes that Ridley runs that basically open the field for other options. As soon as I saw that Jones was active, I plugged Ridley in to my line-up… albeit, vs relatively lackluster options.
This was the right call and kind of what myself and Menobrown were talking about with how the Jaguars were using Ridley without Jones available.

Having Jones back allowed Ridley to run more winnable routes, which also helps free up Jones as teams still focus on Ridley. It's a win win win for the Jaguars.

I think they still should have varied Ridleys routes without Jones, but perhaps the OC thinks they need someone running those clear routes at all times, which I get to a certain extent but disagree with.

managed to force him into my lineup this week in several spots. had a feeling. love it when that works out. didn't do it in my home league, benched him and trevor both. didn't matter though.

So people like him again? Ha ha
Guess I have to if I’m buying into the zay Jones theory. Still not sold on these guys but it’s hard to deny 100-2. Just never saw this being his ceiling ever again this year. Kept him in one league dropped him in a non contender team. I don’t care much about matchups anymore but god the titans sure are awful against WRs

Almost dropped him for Khalil Herbert. Was thinking about it all week and decided I had to keep Ridley one more week. Glad I did. Now I have to have the balls to play him again. Don’t know if I can. Show me consistency Calvin
