WR Davante Adams, LAR (2 Viewers)

I think the Jets are better than 2-4. They have a good defense and Adams makes them better on offense. Hall is good, but they could use a better TE. The OL needs to protect Rodgers or none of this matters anyway.

Not that their word is gospel and people can take their opinions with a grain of salt but I was just running some errands and listened to a Move the Sticks podcast with Jeremiah/Brooks discuss the trade. I personally think it's good to get opinions from knowledgeable people who are not biased with their fantasy teams but I will say their opinions are pretty much in lock step with mine so easy for me to get behind and it goes like this:

They both studied Adams film and concluded he can't get a lot of separation and he's a declining player who is not what he was two years ago but still he still believes he's elite and those players can be difficult to deal with.

Jeremiah made a point I was already thinking that Lazard would not see the field if he played for most teams but with Rodgers and his familiarity with him he's not only playing but productive. And the theory goes, which again I agree with, that if Rodgers can make Lazard productive he can surely make Adams more productive.

Both of them worried about the impact on Wilson and wondered if he'll be unhappy and whereas they both felt Davante was a descending player they also both felt Wilson was ascending player. The later part of that should be obvious.

Well he did have 103 receptions for 1144 yards and 8 TDs last season. Has he declined that much in 9 or 10 months? Just because you agree with a couple of podcast guys doesn’t make it so. I’d rather not go out on a limb and just observe and see what happens.

Yeah, no. You keep doing this, and it was as wrong when you first did it as when you just did it.

Have fun beating up tomato cans and injury-riddled opponents. We play the best at the top of their game.

No, he started to decline previous to last season.

Keep in mind, and I think you know this, I framed my post as a "real life" football post from people without a fantasy bias. What Davante Adams did last year was accumulate fantasy spots out of sheer high usage. It does not mean he was real life very good and pretty far from elite. I mean he had the same amount of yards as George Pickens, excpet he needed about 70 more targets to do it. I don't really think in real life context citing those stats really shows anything.

I haven’t seen proof of a decline, either prior to last season as you say, or during last season putting up great stats. What proof is there for either before last season or during last season besides extra targets? Seems thin to me. If you know something I don’t I can respect that, but I’m on the side of observing going forward. I’ll end my input right there.

I relayed what I heard unbiased football experts discussed. This is some exclusive me take and like I said when I posted it you can take it with a grain of salt which you have. I don’t.

As a Raiders fan, I’m sad the team didn’t take advantage of the time we had a stud WR on the roster. And don’t love the idea that this injury was “exaggerated”.
As a dynasty owner, I’m just happy to get him back in my starting lineup again asap. Lfg

Anybody firing him up confidently this weekend? I will be if Mason is out in one league.

Yep. I just lost Shaheed and Nico Collins, so I'm firing Davante up. I expect decent results, too, so I satisfy the condition of your sentence, which is "confidently." I think talk of serious decline has been premature. The Jets will be better with him.

I am on the fence between Adams vs Tee Higgins but leaning towards Adams. To hear Rogers talk about their red zone problems and broken play results it comes down to a QB that expects his WR to see and react to the same thing he sees/feels in the heat of the moment. Adams is almost certain to get high value targets Sunday night. I feel like his TD odds have to be pretty high.

I'll join the "yes" chorus and I'd start him over a banged up Mason.

There are likely a few system things that are not totally the same and if/when he's drawing Joey Porter Jr he'll get covered up. But I truly think the reason Rodgers peppered the hell out of Wilson with targets the last two weeks was he he knew they were about to trade for Adams and he wanted to get him placated. Now it's Davante's time. I'm expecting Rodgers to try and use this game to get that connection back, and as someone pointed out, even if volume was not ideal he's going to be a big red zone target.

I'm a little more cautious than the others, I think. I expect WR2/3 numbers. We start up to five in my league. There's eight position players that start and one QB position.

Yes, he obviously knows how to play on the same page as Rodgers, and they are running a similar offense to what they had in Green Bay. I think he will hit the ground running and don't expect him to be hamstrung at all.

depends on situation. he still needs to learn the playbook but there will be a fast learning curve.

for him I'd say hes probably playable regardless. I just wouldnt expect a big game in week 1
