WR Deebo Samuel, SF (1 Viewer)

Deebo Samuel (quad) did not practice on Thursday.

Uh oh. The mid-week downgrade is not an especially auspicious sign for the star receiver, though it's possible that he's just getting a full day of maintenance. Samuel played through a hamstring injury last week and managed 43 scoreless yards. The 49ers have a stacked enough skill position corps to not push Deebo to play through this, so it could come down to pain management and long-term thinking. Deebo was limited on Wednesday.

Deebo Samuel (quad) is questionable for San Francisco's Week 13 game against Miami.

Samuel did not do much in practice today per Kyle Shanahan's own admission, and Shanahan said the team was "expecting" him to go full by now but it didn't happen. It certainly sounds like Samuel is on the pessimistic side of questionable. Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports that Samuel has a deep bruise on his thigh that has not healed as quickly as the 49ers hoped.

ESPN's Jeff Darlington reports Deebo Samuel (quad) will play in Week 13 against the Dolphins.

This confirms a previous report that stated Samuel planned to play. The star receiver likely felt good enough in the morning to get the go-ahead for Week 13. The early confirmation also means fantasy managers won't have to wait until the second wave of inactives to find out Samuel's status. Samuel should be treated as a mid-range WR2 for his matchup with Miami.

Deebo Samuel caught 6-of-10 targets for 58 yards in the 49ers' Week 13 win over the Dolphins, adding four carries for five yards.

Samuel's best play of the day somehow came on a play that saw him lose four yards. On an end around that Miami was deep in the backfield for, Samuel slipped three defenders at the same time, turning a loss of 12 yards into a much less damaging loss of four yards. Deebo entered the game with a questionable tag, but his usage through the air and as a runner suggests he was close to fully healthy. Expect Kyle Shanahan to scheme Samuel even more touches with Brock Purdy making his first start in place of Jimmy Garoppolo, who is done for the year with a foot injury, next week. Samuel will rank as a mid-range WR2 versus the Bucs.

Deebo Samuel (quad) practiced again on Thursday.

It appears Samuel will get in another "limited" session, but was the case last week, he appears poised to play through his quad issue, this time as the 49ers adjust to new quarterback Brock Purdy. Although Purdy's insertion is a downgrade for the Niners' entire offense, it stands to reason that Samuel's slashing hybrid touches will again become more important.

Deebo Samuel was forced from San Francisco's Week 14 game against the Bucs with an ankle injury.

Samuel got both legs awkwardly rolled up underneath him in the process of losing a second quarter fumble, but the most serious issue is apparently with his ankle. He might also have an knee ailment. He was originally announced with his knee. Samuel remained down for several minutes. He tried to go off under his own power but had to abandon the pursuit and was visibly distraught. His afternoon is certainly through. Now the question becomes his season. Hold your breath.

The Athletic's Matt Barrows reports that WR Deebo Samuel has an MCL sprain and an ankle sprain.

Barrows notes that Samuel is expected to return "at some point during the regular season." It's a positive report, considering that Samuel's initial timeline put him at risk of missing Week 18. However, we now know Samuel is dealing with an MCL sprain in addition to his ankle injury. With that in mind, Samuel is unlikely to make an impact in the fantasy playoffs. But fantasy managers can't yet rule out a Week 17 return.

Deebo Samuel (ankle) practiced Thursday.

Almost certainly it will be a limited session, and the 49ers beat reporters have been pretty tepid about Samuel's chances of playing in Week 17. But he has a faint pulse at playing again this week. He's been out since Week 14. It's likely the 49ers will play it safe and try to get Samuel ready for the playoffs, but we can't entirely rule out a return this week.

Deebo Samuel (ankle, knee) is practicing in full for Week 18 against the Cardinals.

Under normal circumstances, this would mean Samuel was guaranteed to suit up for the first time since Week 14. However, the 12-4 Niners are set to demolish the David Blough-starting Cardinals. They still have NFC playoff seeding to play for, but they know they will not be losing this game. Samuel did not answer an affirmative "yes" when asked if he feels the need to get in some reps before the postseason. "Not necessarily trying to push it," Samuel said. "I'm not going to risk myself. If I'm not 100 percent ready to go, I'm not going to go out there." If Samuel plays, we assume he will be snap-counted.

Deebo Samuel (ankle, knee) is not on San Francisco's final Week 18 injury report against Arizona.

It'll likely be a "get your feet wet" situation for Deebo off three lost weeks to this high-ankle sprain. Samuel will be a risky option this week, probably best profiling as a FLEX. He still is so explosive that he could take five touches and go for 100 yards and a touchdown, but if the 49ers blow out the Cardinals, he could spend most of the second half on the bench.

Deebo Samuel caught 6-of-9 targets for 133 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' Wild Card win against the Seahawks, adding three rushes for 32 yards.

A finally-healthy Deebo was let loose against a soft Seattle defense that had little interest in tackling the hybrid wideout. He saw two carries to none for Christian McCaffrey in the Niners' opening drive and in the second half caught a short pass from Brock Purdy and weaved his way between defenders -- and benefited from excellent downfield blocking -- on his way to a thrilling 74-yard score that put the game away. It was Deebo's most complete game of the season and the most receiving yards he's had since last postseason. A healthy Deebo makes the 49ers offense as frightening as any in the league.

Deebo Samuel caught 4-of-7 targets for 45 yards in San Francisco's Divisional Round win over Dallas, adding four carries for 11 yards.

Samuel brought the thunder on his first carry for eight yards, and managed to look as elusive as ever in the open field when he got there. The 49ers simply weren't able to create many open looks for him as everything congealed towards the middle of the field and the early screens they ran didn't fool Dallas. Deebo will be yet another 49ers offensive weapon who could potentially explode for a big game against Philadelphia in the NFC Championship game.

What draft pick is he worth in a 12 team PPR dynasty league (1 QB league) What pick would you move him for if you owned him?

Tyshun "Deebo" Samuel caught 5-of-7 targets for 55 yards in the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Steelers, adding two rushes for eight yards.

Samuel touched the ball on the 49ers’ first two plays from scrimmage but was otherwise held in check by the Steelers’ man coverage. Brandon Aiyuk, meanwhile, ate up Patrick Peterson. We have no doubt Samuel is going to have spiked weeks where he out-produces Aiyuk and George Kittle, but Aiyuk certainly seems to be the 49ers’ “traditional” No. 1 receiver at this point. That’s a problem since Samuel’s rushing usage is never going to return to its 2021 levels. He will find himself on the WR2/3 borderline for Week 2 against the Rams.

Deebo Samuel (ribs/knee) did not practice on Friday.

Samuel has not practiced all week despite being ruled as day-to-day by head coach Kyle Shanahan earlier this week. Samuel is nursing multiple injuries suffered in Week 3’s win over the Giants, and is at legitimate risk of missing Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Cardinals. We’ll see what kind of injury designation he carries heading into the weekend, but things are off to a sub-optimal start.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Deebo Samuel (ribs/knee) will be playing at “less than 100 percent” in Week 5 against the Cowboys.

Samuel was active in Week 4 against the Cardinals but played more of a decoy role. The star receiver didn’t draw a target in the win, with his only production coming on three carries for six yards. Samuel logged a limited practice to open the week and will play on Sunday Night Football on NBC against the Cowboys, but how the team deploys him could create another frustrating week for fantasy managers. Assuming he’s used at a normal rate in Week 5, we’d expect Samuel to be a WR2 in prime time.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Deebo Samuel is day-to-day with a shoulder injury suffered in Week 6’s loss to the Browns.

A day-to-day diagnosis by Shanahan would lead us to believe Samuel will be good to go for next Monday’s contest against the Vikings, although Thursday’s injury report will give us a better sense of his availability. Assuming he’s ready to go for Week 7, Samuel will be on the fantasy radar as a high-end WR2 against a Vikings defense that has struggled to keep points off the board this season.

Sounds like Deebo is more likely than CMC, and if he's in and CMC is out, one would think that greatly enhances Deebo's upside.

Having said that, he's already on injury #3 this season, and its possible that he could sit a week, even with the bye being close.
