WR Dontayvion Wicks, GB (1 Viewer)

Bye week guy for most. At least until these drops get cleaned up.

Today showed, me this team missed Doubs, even though he doesn't put up huge stats, he's a balancing presence and threat, hopefully that fence gets mended, will be better for all
Definitely. They need a chain mover. Wicks is like Devin funchess. Theoretically ceiling but it’ll be ugly

I guess this was bound to happen after all the hype. Most of us owners are frustrated, particularly those that spent a fair amount of FAAB on Wicks (which most analysts advised to throw a bundle).

But it's also overreaction over one game, as we are all guilty of doing. Love didn't exactly light it up yesterday (15-26-224-2) in what should have been a plus matchup. Wicks still led the team in targets with 7, even if he didn't connect much.

Wicks may very well turn out to be another example of fool's gold, but unless there is a much better replacement option out there, I wouldn't spite drop him based off one game.

I apologize to everyone saying Wicks was the play of the week. I really thought he would have a monster game. FF can humble all of us.

Meh. It was all there for a smash play. LA defense showed up though where the previous 4 weeks they had not. football is funny like that. Cards can beat the niners in SF. Giants can beat the Seahawks in Seattle missing their best player. Any given Sunday.

I won't ever criticize people for honest mea culpas, but I don't think this is necessary. Every publication had him as a play for the week. Insiders were darn-near giddy to spread the news and knowledge. Everything behind the numbers added up. The premises were there. He'd just dropped 24+ PPR the week before. His teammate quit in a snit over usage. The game had to run through Wicks and Reed, didn't it?

Oh, Tucker Kraft. ****.

Anyway, the near-unanimity of consensus about his smash week is how we should have known he was doomed.

By the time Sunday came, I debated switching him out because of the unanimous consent he would be a hit. Would have gained me 3 extra points.

Some shred of hope stats from JJ Zachariason:

The results weren't there (4 PPR points), but Dontayvion Wicks had a 28% target share against the Rams. He ran just two fewer routes than Jayden Reed.

Thought the sun the earth and the moon were lined up for him to blow up.

Massive disappointment that crushed a lot of my teams.

But I’ll also be putting him back in a lot of those lineups next week if Watson is out.

I think he’ll be fine .. He looks like he’s pressing. The truth is this offense is loaded with weapons so anyone can go off any week .. This week it was Kraft, last week was Wicks, and the week prior to that was Reed .. So, it’s going to be frustrating smh

Two weeks in a row it sounds like he can’t really catch. Could blow up any given week if the opportunities continue but I imagine he can only drop so many before they dry up

Wicks did still lead the team in targets, so I don't think this was a total miss. The problem is that he's still dropping easily catchable balls on the regular. Love to Wicks... 2/7. Love to everyone else.... 13/19.

It was a tough week for Wicks, looked like he had hands of bricks. He will need to spend some more time working on his kraft and learning to reed the defense.

Well played!

I'm enamored with Wicks. Sure hope he works our the drops before he gets relegated.

Adding insult to injury, I picked up, and in some cases, started ***BO MELTON*** yesterday as a hedge to my # of Wicks shares, and due to bye week/injury issues. :bag:

Malik Heath. Whoda thunk it? :loco:

He's terrible. Would not touch.

I’m guessing this is reverse psychology?

I don’t even know anymore. Matt Harmon loves this guy. His coach mentioned the words “Davante Adams” at one point about his route running. Said he wasn’t there, but reminiscent of. What, do people need instant gratification that badly? He was awesome in his limited time last year.
Not schtick. Terrible WR. Would not claim off waivers in dynasty. I don't want WRs on my team who cannot catch.
Bump because I am so rarely right.

This is not a time to take a victory lap. You're lapping after one week and a one-game sample. Tell me at the end of the year or the next you don't want him. I'll be around.

I'm taking receipts on this one if you keep it up. :)

Plenty of opportunity to still be wrong. You said you wouldn't claim him off waivers in dynasty and you're rooting your horn after I e bad week. Watch him have a Davante like career.

Gee, Adams first year in GB he faced the same criticism. James Jones as well. I'm sure there are plenty other WRs as well. Don't pat yourself on the back just yet.

Wicks' second year.

Yeah, the point stands. Don't write a guy off early in his career.

My post was four weeks ago, not one. He was terrible then. Still terrible. Be patient, keep starting him. Enjoy those receipts.

This thread, smh. The Packers are a WR by committee with Reed being the most reliable standout. This really hasn't changed since early last year and is designed that way on purpose by MLF. Kraft was the beneficiary for Doubs being out. To those of you that are Kraft owners, you might see a drop in production when Doubs is back.

I was thinking more of a drop in Doubs production when Doubs is back.

for the amount that he gets open, you are willing to deal with more drops than average, up to a point.

and I think hes close to that point. if the guy had great hands, hed already be the #1 on this team I have no doubt. some of that you can coach out, and some you cannot. Depending on the reason for the drops. but if they can get that drop rate down even a bit, I think hes good enough to start. I'd rather have the WR that gets open 60% of the time and drops 10% of his passes than the guy who gets open 30% of the time and drops 5% of his passes. So I do think they will try to work it out with him.

I'm holding for now. Might even start him this week because my WR core is pretty grim.

But it's a short leash. He had one or two brutal drops, but also a few "targets" that were uncatchable by anyone but Superman.

This guy is going to be free this week when people dump him because he didn’t produce in one game.

And if I wasn't already holding him in three leagues, I'd scoop him up.

I will say it is time to put up or shut up for redraft. He didn't have a drops problem last year. Reminds me of Diontae Johnson that one year in Pittsburgh. Always open, newly-acquired drop problems for both guys.
