WR Dontayvion Wicks, GB (1 Viewer)

If T. Kraft is out, could D. Wicks be a sneaky play this week?

No J. Reed, potentially no Kraft.

Tough matchup, but it would be down to Doubs, Golden, and Wicks. Wicks was getting play out of the slot as well last week.

I don't think it's even sneaky. Being down Reed and Kraft (for the sake of argument) condenses the passing game quite a bit. He had six targets last week in an easy win with Kraft having a great game. Wicks had 2 targets the week before in an easy win where Reed saw 5 targets.

No guarantees of course, this could be Golden's 12 target coming out party but, I'm doubtful about that.

I think he's a fine start, depending on your options of course. I am slightly considering him over Olave in PPR myself (but Olave is getting a ton of volume so I probably won't).

Wow. Considering over Olave.

I'm considering over D. Mooney and K. Boutte if J. Jennings is out.

I think you posted that in the WDIS thread and, IIRC I said Wicks... or Jennings.

So you'd go Wicks even if Kraft plays? (Assuming Jennings is out. You have a good memory lol).

I don't know the extent of his knee injury but, even if it plays it feels like a Bowers situation where he will not be near full speed.

Yeah, I think I would. It comes down to GB playing a game they will almost certainly win (Yeah, any given yadda yadda yadda) and probably score a decent amount. The Niners should win but, with Mac Jones and down so many playmakers there is more chance at an upset.

Yes, I would still probably go with Wicks. But, it's a total WAG. You gotta go with your own gut, not mine.

He has the highest upside out of the group .. Wicks will emerge as the WR1 for the Pack.
That's what I was thinking last year. He drops too many balls to be the wr1.
Kraft is the closet thing to a wr 1 on that team. Love likes spreading ball around..
And when Reed comes back, doubt Wicks takes over for him..

Looks like Kraft expected to play. Who knows how much. May pick up Wicks, but probably have to drop Boutte.

My opponent actually has Kraft. Would be wild if he's limited and Wicks gets serious targets. Double whammy in my favor.

Thanks

Things could change.
But also, #1 WRs generally drop more passes than others due to more targets. Snapshot in time: CD Lamb is the league leader in drops at 4 in 2 games.

2025 way too early stats after 2 games.
Wicks 8 targets 0 drops.

Packers have dropped 1 pass this year and it was the back-up RB Brooks.

Can click on the drops column, targets, column, whatever to sort:

So that happened. I mean, if they're going to use him out of the slot and give him a proper route share and snap share—and calls a few first-read plays along with Love looking for him, then now we're talking.

28 PPR points on Thanksgiving is a very nice, probably lost on fantasy players, kind of day.

Jayden Reed’s gonna come back and make this into a whole mess.
Probably. But he’s still young, Packers have stated multiple times they see similarities to the young Devante Adams.

Worth a stash in dynasty if available.

I’m in go for it mode and traded him for a necessary 100 FAAB dollars. I’ve never stopped believing that this guy was going to be something and I bumped the thread, but it’s a bit bittersweet. I’d do it again, but he finally looked adjusted to the slot.

Which actually leads me to macro lesson learned. When a guy is a low-round pick and the organization sees success with him in one spot (and it's a solid front office and coach combination) and then he falters due to something like drops that generally don't follow as a stat and if they do, you don't see it because "he gone" happens quickly; but anyway if he falters and the organization gives him role like slot receiver and really sticks with him, I'd do the same as a player. Whatever happens with Dontyvion when Reed comes back is, for me, very difficult to predict but after that performance today that so many people saw, he'll have everyone on Line One with him if GB can't make it work with him.

Getting 100fab for him is excellent. Nice work. I don’t know what your leagues typical budget is, but that seems way high.

In my leagues it’s $500 or $1000

Hard to judge value unless we know the budget though - good point.

Thanks for the compliment. It's graduated. It goes from $150 for last year's champ and then increases in increments of $14 for league with most going to 12th place in a twelve-team league. I started with $164 (finals loser last year or runner-up if you like that term better) so it goes up to $304. In that range. And we have free agents that you bid on (I think you pick six to auction) and whatever the bid price is you get keep if they are bid upon in a specific time period. You protect 40 and I haven't had any picks that I didn't acquire by trade in two years, so my team is thinning and there aren't many bidders. Plus I churn like a champ because we're an IDP league but the league has changed so much on defense and our league not with it (nor has any IDP league that I know of changed in an appropriate way—and big play doesn't do it because you're just giving weight to events that might not add to winning like a cover corner who nobody who throws who won't earn any points in any league but a PFF grading league) that I won't trade assets or burn draft picks on defense and will only play the wire. So the cash is always needed.
