George Pickens makes spiraling catch against Cam Sutton back to back reps in 1v1. Danced on him after each grab. Pickens has A+ body control and tracking of the football. #Steelers
I don't wanna say the George Pickens hype train has left the station and just might be running off the proverbial rails... but I heard a former player say he "reminds me of Randy Moss" today
Josh Rowntree @JRown32
George Pickens said that the catch he made today during the two-minute drill is probably the best he's had here in camp, but probably the 8th best of his life.
If there are seven better catches than that, holy moly. #Steelers @937theFan

George Pickens burned Ahkello Witherspoon on this route. He made it look easy. #Steelers #NFL

"George Pickens has been one of the best WRs that I've seen as a rookie" ~@MarkKaboly
#PMSLive #HereWeGo
The Athletic's Mark Kaboly reports WR George Pickens has been a "star" throughout Steelers training camp.
The second-round pick out of Georgia has reportedly dominated cornerbacks over the past two weeks, showing off his downfield catching ability and precise route running. "His hands are good, his speed is good, his ability to contort his body is good," Kaboly said. "Honestly, I’ve never seen a rookie this good this early." Pickens' camp domination could be related to Diontae Johnson missing most practices -- first with a contract "hold in," then with a leg issue. Chase Claypool also missed a week of training camp with a shoulder injury. Kaboly said Claypool's limited reps "haven't been overwhelming." A solid preseason could force Pickens -- who shaped up to be the top receiver in his draft class before a 2021 ACL injury -- into the Steelers' No. 2 wideout role behind Johnson. He should be drafted in deeper fantasy formats.

When Pittsburgh drafts a WR, you have to take notice and have that guy on your radar always
Agreed. Even if he's a transcendent talent - and he might be - this situation is far from ideal with major question marks at OL and QB. Plus he'd have to beat out Johnson or Claypool for targets, all while a rookie in the NFL. Redraft problems.I’m a believer in Pickens but the 2022 Pittsburgh offense will severely cap upside. QB situation is uncertain and bottom 25% for FF and NFL quality. Many mouths to feed on low volume passing offense between Harris, Muth, DJ and Claypool. Realistically they’ll want to run first and second to protect the QBs. Going to see heavy doses of Harris and jet sweeps adding rush value to Claypool.
Bright side, expect the team to take shots downfield to keep defenses from overcrowding the LOS. Pickens has the skill and attitude to make plays. He will have some boom weeks but good luck figuring out which weeks to start him.
I’m not sure Claypool has done enough — or has a good enough attitude — that he can stay in front of Pickens all year.My question is what's his value in redraft? With Dionte and Claypool in front of him and a highly questionable QB room, is he worth a roster spot for this year?
And does the, seemingly amazing WR group in Pittsburgh make Trubisky (or Pickens...not Rudolph imo) a play in superflex & 2QB leagues in 2022?

Man, I have the 1.7 in my last remaining rookie draft next week so glad to hear that most think he’s in play there.I'm thinking new ADP is 1.6ish in rookie drafts and round 10ish in redrafts.
He might be, but uh, I would get that license number of that car that hit you while speeding on the way to like the 1.4 or 1.5.Man, I have the 1.7 in my last remaining rookie draft next week so glad to hear that most think he’s in play there.
Is Eli Mitchell to an RB needy team that drafted London, Wilson, Pickens and Pierce a fair starting offer to attempt to get him before the hype really goes nuts?
That's the crazy nature of the NFL these days. Unless you have a completely clean bill of health, these scouts today will knock you down multiple pegs, coaches will make you work twice as hard to prove you can beat out out a 3rd or 4th rounder, any resume you've built on the field before the injury be damned. You see it every year.Pickens was once considered by many draft pundits as the top receiver in the class, before injuries derailed his collegiate career. He looks like the player we thought he could be following his freshman season at Georgia. I don't think it is a stretch to rank Pickens at the top of this class of receivers. I currently rank him only behind Drake London. It's not as if this is a meteoric rise in what should have been his value all along. Pickens should have NEVER been dropping behind the likes of Skyy Moore and Christian Watson, or any RB not named Hall or Walker. If you get Pickens outside of the first half of Round One, consider yourself extremely fortunate. Pickens is easily a top 4 pick for me.
On the surface it does seem early but when you list the other options at WR, it doesn’t seem that bad to me. With any of those guys, including Pickens, you need a lot of things to break right for fantasy value.I just did a quick Underdog best ball. He went in round 11, as the WR 56. Over guys like Chark, Golladay, Isaiah Mckenzie, Landry, and Robbie Anderson. Seemed WAY early...but Doubs went in the 12th so....![]()
This is the concern I have - Harris, Johnson, Claypool and Freiermuth are already there to command targets. Even if Pickens is all that, that’s a lot to overcome with this passing offense. Love the talent, but I’m not very bullish on his fantasy prospects beyond dynasty leagues. My question is what's his value in redraft? With Dionte and Claypool in front of him and a highly questionable QB room, is he worth a roster spot for this year?
In best ball I would definitely take him over any of those guys.I just did a quick Underdog best ball. He went in round 11, as the WR 56. Over guys like Chark, Golladay, Isaiah Mckenzie, Landry, and Robbie Anderson. Seemed WAY early...but Doubs went in the 12th so....![]()
Not so sexy in redraft. He's not a target. This is the concern I have - Harris, Johnson, Claypool and Freiermuth are already there to command targets. People were taking guys ranked close to him, who would have to be an outlier to pay off
With Ben at QB I would agree but new QB which pass catcher is in the best rhythm with QBs?This is the concern I have - Harris, Johnson, Claypool and Freiermuth are already there to command targets. Some teams are going to look back and kick themselves. Christian Watson, Wan'Dale Robinson, John Metchie III, and Tyquan Thornton were all taken in the second round ahead of Pickens, and while the Chiefs didn't take Skyy Moore ahead of Pickens, they traded down from 50 to 54 to make the pick, missing out on Pickens, who went 52. ALL of those moves seemed insanely stupid at the time, and appear even worse now! smh
