WR George Pickens, PIT (1 Viewer)

I don’t get the Brandon Lloyd comp at all. I see nothing similar about the two.

As for Pickens, I am realizing now that I am going to have to reach for him by at least one round if not two relative to ADP. I am ok with that. I believe he is going to be a king maker as a fantasy WR3 this season.

And one of the kings he will make is Kenny Pickett, who I intend to draft as well. :)

Contested crazy catches + inability to get true separation = Brandon Lloyd.

I love this guy, and am buying him up where I can. Huge upside. But also huge risk that he's another Brandon Lloyd or other contested catch specialists that had trouble separating, where we see them make these great catches every couple weeks and wonder why they are stuck being middling fantasy players.
There's no doubt that he needs to improve on his separation if he's ever going to reach his huge upside, however it took Lloyd until his 8th NFL season (and 4th team) before he managed a season better than what Pickens just put up as a 21 year old rookie, on a putrid passing offense, coming off a torn ACL. He's also taller, faster, etc.

There are some risks for sure, but he's far better than Brandon Lloyd.

he has a wealth of talent, and has looked great in preseason. but..I'm looking at it like this, if others covet him like one of the posters above, saying they'll reach for him a round or two before his adp, as an owner in dynasty, I'm offering him up on a silver platter for anyone of my league mates. we keep 5 guys max. Jahan Dotson is a f/a right now. he'll be there in the 2nd round for me ( 7th round after 5 keepers) . I'd much rather have him , or London, or Watson ( GB), or Wilson(nyj). all 3 of these are owned by one guy, he can't keep them all has too much other talent to worry about.
anyways, Pickens falls into that category of mirage players - perception doesn't equal reality. Stillers fan probably think he's the next man on the moon. go and trade him to the stillers fan!

In redraft, give me the guy who is a route technician, gets open, and gets a ton of targets (Johnson).
In dynasty, give me the guy who has more trade value (Pickens).
In dynasty where I'm a candidate to win the ship this season, I prefer Johnson by A LOT.

I'm in redraft also and DJ looks like gold as WR#3 in rd 8-9 ish

GP is a boom/bust #2 WR but pricey at that pick.

Cool thing is both could be right.

Just grabbed him in a Dynasty league …

I get : Pickens and a ‘25 2nd

He got : ‘24 1st and a ‘25 3rd

Love doing this kind of deal where I’ll give up a 1st but I want a pick exchange improvement. This owner is perennially bottom so most likely a very high 2nd.

WRs now : Jefferson/Kupp/Cooper/Pickens/Davis/Hodgins/host of other decent fill ins and lower pick rookies including Michael Wilson. Adds a bit of youth as Amari and Kupp get on a bit in age

I got him 5.16 (#80th) in a 16 team Standard league w/ Double Flex (WR/TE and WR/RB/TE) as my 3rd WR. My board on that part of the draft was him and Antonio Gibson and I couldn't pass up on Pickens' upside; I think Pittsburgh passes much more and Pickens has shown he is a fantastic contested catch WR despite not running a ton of varied routes. However he's now two years removed from ACL surgery and maybe is able to separate more. You can do worse if he's your Flex WR, but if the Pittsburgh offense turns out to be more explosive with Year 2 Kenny Pickett, I see Pickens being the WR who reaps the most benefits.

Pickens is a guy I grabbed but I'm not sure how I feel about him. Pittsburgh offense has a whole lot of improving to do especially on the passing end which I believe they will. Pickens is exciting, but can he be consistent? I'm expecting a roller coaster season for Pickens. Two or Three big games and three or four real duds sprinkled in with 10-12 games of mediocrity. Prediction 72-1,050-9

George Pickens caught 5-of-7 targets for 36 yards in the Steelers’ Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

One of Pickens’ missed connections was an absolutely insane end zone grab that nevertheless came out of bounds. It was that kind of day for the Steelers in a game where they were never competitive. Pickens’ seven targets were second to Allen Robinson’s eight on an afternoon where Diontae Johnson was lost to a potentially serious hamstring injury. A boom-or-bust WR4 until further notice, Pickens gets the Browns’ feisty defense for Week 2.

Guy has got to get more separation but it's just not his game. Hoping for some possibility of increased RZ targets as this offense probably leans on its backfield more and possibly (gulp) A Rob. With the 49ers out of the way, things should get better.

Pickens dealing with a phantom hammy issue and all I've got left is Mingo as a possible sub. Not excited about either guy but would prefer Pickens here.

Hopefully focus is on running the dang ball and create some good opportunities for Pickens, ARob and Cal.
With Diontae out, Pickens should have some big play opportunities with target share in the 8-10 range.

These next 4 weeks are enormous for George Pickens. After the colossal hype all Summer, it's his audition in a WR1 role.

I've seen him do crazy things in practice and on the field in flashes. Now, let's see what that looks like as the alpha guy in the offense.

George Pickens caught 4-of-10 targets for 127 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ Week 2 win over the Browns.

Pickens highlighted his big play ability by taking a routine slant 71 yards to the house in the third quarter. The poor efficiency in catching just four of his 10 targets can mostly be explained through the inefficient play from quarterback Kenny Pickett more so than being a nod to mistakes from Pickens. There were also two near misses down the sideline that Pickens was unable to corral inbounds that would have further padded his yardage total. Pickens and the Steelers should find the sledding easier in Week 3 when they hit the road to face the Raiders in Las Vegas.

As stated in the Pickett thread, Kenny missed so many layups that you have to wonder about him regressing.

I don’t own him but if I did I would sell high.

Pickett is HORRIBLE

That Browns D is good. Next game is easier, if you’re looking to sell perhaps wait one more week . I’m in the position where I traded for him 3 weeks ago so glad to see him go off albeit on the bench. Whole O is a concern though

PIckens active with no injury designation.

ETA-Mingo was also my backup plan.

Cheers to Pickens having a career game last night despite terrible QB play. I'm not sure Trubisky would be much worse at this point

Giving him a start today while still waiting for Watson. Certainly worse situations out there than playing a clear-cut #1 WR with a bad QB.

Oooo baby, fire him up :towelwave:

He's creating beef ahead of the game tomorrow. He's gonna have to back it up. He'll either drop 120 or 30 lol.

I like it though, back to back 100 yard games, and he's clearly gaining confidence if he's starting to yap.

Stopped reading after the first sentence...

"PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars should be a tight-fought battle against two of the best in the AFC."

Very quiet in this thread.

We starting tonight? Not sure what to make of last game if it was the trubiski effect or DJ coming back will have a huge dent in targets for him. Leaning on starting given his talent.

Think that’s a no brainer given those Wr recent games.

I’m probably starting in my flex over Gabe Davis, Nico Collins, and Kareem Hunt although feel like Nico could tear up Bucs this week.

Starting him. Hoping Levis is a gunslinger and puts up some points so that Canada & Co have to go negative, and the sooner the better. Let's get GP some target share baby!
