Updated the title teamates think he may be out a while :o So Jennings was carted off with an injury. looks like his ankle may have been rolled up or his knee twisted. If he misses any time who would be the better pickup? Nelson is likely gone in every league. that would leave james jones, randall cobb and donald driver. I know it may be a crapshoot but who do you like more?i think jones may be more reliable and cobb more of a homerunETA:

Greg Jennings hobbled off the field with a knee injury in the third quarter of Week 14.Jennings was heavily favoring his right leg coming off the field, and appeared to be in a lot of pain on the bench. After trying to stand up and take a step on the sideline, he needed help from teammates. He ended up riding the cart to the locker room. We wouldn't expect to see Jennings again in a 31-0 blowout. With Stanford Routt in coverage, Jennings managed just one catch for 12 yards in just over two quarters. He did have two near-scores, but both were knocked away by defenders.

No link...so excuse this very vague info...just spoke with my mother (lives in WI) said she heard on the radio it was a knee sprain.

Just thought I would pass it along...I will search for any link.

I think knock Jordy down a bit (because he will have better defenders on him)

Bump up Driver/Jones/Cobb some (+10%) as Rodgers will just spread it around.

Aaron_Nagler Aaron Nagler Mike McCarthy says Greg Jennings has a knee sprain - which means he could be fine or he could have had his leg amputated in the locker room
@espn_nfcnblogESPN Blogs NFC North No further info on Jennings injury from McCarthy. Sprain, more tests. Jennings not seen in locker room (by me, at least). #Packers

Players in the Packers locker room Sunday night were "not sure" when Greg Jennings (knee) will return, and Aaron Rodgers expressed "hope" that Jennings might return for the NFL playoffs. Our guess is that Jennings did not necessarily tear a major knee ligament, but he may have a severe sprain. If the "hope" among Packers players is that Jennings could return for the NFL postseason, it stands to reason that he may be unavailable for rest of the fantasy playoffs. Randall Cobb, James Jones, and Donald Driver could end up playing in a timeshare to replace Jennings. Jordy Nelson will have to pick it up even more on downfield routes.

Knee sprain with MRI on Tuesday. I'd be surprised to see him before week 17 at the very least..Most likely not until 1st playoff game, which gives him 5 weeks..

profootball talk has suspicion of torn MCL

Everyone in Green Bay is tight-lipped for now regarding the status of Packers receiver Greg Jennings. With an MRI coming Monday, the current chatter is that Jennings has a torn MCL. The degree of the suspected tear is not currently known. More info undoubtedly will come tomorrow.

Profootballtalk.com reports that Greg Jennings may have torn his right MCL in Sunday's win over Oakland.

The "grade" of the MCL injury would determine how much time Jennings might miss, and PFT's Mike Florio concedes that the prognosis he's "hearing" is "unconfirmed." Regardless, an MCL tear would align to some extent with the feeling in the Packers' locker room Sunday evening. Jennings' teammates are "hopeful" that he might return for NFL postseason play.

This is James Jones chance to shine.

Jordy Nelson is a good player....but he is not built to be a #1. James Jones has the tools to do just that IMO. He just needs to focus.

If Greg Jennings did indeed tear his MCL....he at the very least will be shut down till the post season.....if he can even play again this year.

This team will lean on James Jones. It makes sense. He is big and strong. Finley will also need to step up big time.

I love Donald Driver....tough as they come. But he is not nearly the same player he used to be (quite obvious).

So I think this is where you see if James Jones has what it take to be a big time player and can he overcome the dropsies that haunted him last season. I have always felt he has all the tools to be a really good #1 WR in this league.

We shall see.

I would expect a few more targets for Randall Cobb who is coming along nicely. James Jones has had a lot of chances, Driver is aging but I think he will see an uptick the next few weeks too.

Finley gets to play the worst two defenses against TEs the next two weeks (according the TE playoff thread here). Just sayin'. He'll now be getting a few more targets I'd have to imagine.

BTW, with Jennings hurt, how long will Aaron Rodgers be left in these games? He should have ben pulled at halftime this week.
I disagree about halftime. And he was still pulled late in the 3rd quarter.
31-0...Flynn would have been fine the rest of the way. GB has plenty of weapons and I disagree about Jordy Nelson not being #1, he can be the focal point if need be...but GB still has Jones, Cobb, and Driver, they're loaded and will be fine. Not all directed at you Sho

Well...part of it was to try and get Rodgers the Packer TD record at home.I agree they have plenty of weapons. Will see if they activate anyone (gurley) or just stick with the 4 WRs and 4 TEs.

I do agree that Nelson isn't a #1 like Calvin or Andre Johnson, but Rodgers should look his way more than he does now...no? From the games I've seen, the guy has incredible hands and is good after the catch. He's bigger than most top corners who may have to focus on Jones, Driver and Cobb and not lock down on him.

yep pick him up if hes available

A sprained MCL is a common injury, any sprain is actually a tear. MCL's don't require surgery unless it's a complete rupture. I don't think that's the case judging by Jennings' reaction, he didn't seem to be in too much pain.

It's likely a 1-5 week injury depending on severity of the tear. I had a grade 2 MCL sprain last year & it was about 5 weeks before I was 100%, and that's without NFL medical staff & trainers.

I think we can assume Jennings will be 100% by the Packers first playoff game, but who knows if he plays before then.

Cobb, Jones, or Driver?
They all shift up. I assume Jones and Cobb will be the most impacted as they will see the field more now. Driver and Nelson's roles don't change. Jones will move into 3 wr sets.

I agree with MoP. I mentioned in some other thread that it amazes me that Brees/Rodgers are throwing the ball a ton even when most NFL teams would be turning to grind out the clock even going to a backup RB. It always looks to me like they are going for records and not trying to just put the game in the book and get out healthy. For instance, Brees against the Colts and yesterday against the Raiders. The Colts and Raiders are among the worst rushing defenses in the NFL,they should be the easiest to run the game out against. You are up 31-0 in the 3rd quarter and Rodgers is tossing 20+ yard passes. If Jennings is out for some of the playoffs, it is going to hurt. You don't have to pull Rodgers, but it is pretty easy to protect him by running a lot in the second half.It is of course MMQB now that Jennings may be out for a bit, but when I was watching the Brees throwing TDs to Graham up by 30+ in the 4th quarter, I was almost hoping that Brees would get hit hard just so they would back off. I understand that the Colts/Raiders are big boys, but if I am going for a perfect season or the Super Bowl, I am running the game out and keeping my players healthy for the next game. Now, playing the 49ers or a top run D, that is a different story, but chances are you aren't up by 30+ points on them.

Again...Rodgers was going for the all time GB TD record and trying to do so at home early in the 3rd quarter. Also realize Grant came out for a second after one run dinged up, Saine had a possible concussion, and Starks is still trying to come back from injury. From midway through the 3rd on they ran it 12 times and passed 7.At 8:10 Rodgers started his last drive of the day. They ran it 4 times, passed 4 times on that drive. The passes came on 2nd and 14 (he was sacked), the 26 yarder to Cobb on 3rd and 19, then a pass on 2nd and 11 and 3rd and 11. The rest were runs.Rodgers played 2 series in the 3rd quarter. Thats it...the first was all passes after Cobb's return (and the replay malfunction). They went for the record right there. After that...it was pass on long down and distance...run otherwise.

"Talking with medical staff, Jennings will be out a couple weeks." sez McCarthy. "We feel fortunate."

Tom Silverstein speculates "He obviously is in a good mood and I think that has to do with the report on Jennings."

"I would think it would be safe to say, Jennings would be back for playoffs."

This sounds reasonable. Given that they have things pretty well rapped up, I can't see them playing him until the playoffs. Why take a risk on rushing him back early?I do wondere who will pick up the slack? My gut feeling is that it will be everyone a bit, but Finely the most consistently.

This note from this morning is interesting saying Cobb is the closest to a Jennings clone in terms of versatility. So maybe he sees a nice uptick in value.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel believes Randall Cobb could benefit the most from Greg Jennings' (knee) absence.

Jennings plays all three receiver positions for the Packers. Cobb, James Jones and Donald Driver do not. Therefore, the three will rotate based on matchups and packages. The Journal-Sentinel sees Cobb spending a lot of time in the slot and therefore producing, but we still prefer Jones as the best add here. He's proven to be explosive in the past and will now see a big bump in snaps per game.

Rumors flying that the Packers may activate Tori Gurley from the practice squad.http://jerseyal.com/GBP/2011/12/12/source-packers-to-activate-wr-tori-gurley-soon/

According to a source close to the situation, the Green Bay Packers are working on promoting rookie receiver Tori Gurley from the practice squad to the active roster in the coming days. The source, speaking on terms of anonymity, said that the Packers are working on a deal to pay him money in the range of an active player. Combined with Greg Jennings’ injury that will keep him out 2-3 weeks, there’s a good chance that the Packers could activate Gurley sometime before Green Bay takes on the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.Gurley had an extended talk with both quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Packers coaching staff on Monday and came away from the meetings encouraged about the upcoming situation, the source said. That would help explain Gurley’s tweet about an hour before McCarthy’s press conference on Monday that said “God works in mysterious ways ;- ) Go Pack Go.”The source also said that another team was in talks to claim Gurley off the Packers practice squad. The team wasn’t named, but that likely helped give Gurley even more leverage to get onto the active roster.
