WR Jameson Williams, DET (5 Viewers)

Raise your hand if you drafted him, finally had to drop him a few weeks back and now he's killing you in a must win game to make the playoffs...

2 targets total, at least he got the big shot down field.

the offense is rolling, this is the best 5 game stretch of scoring they've had since 1954

no need to load him up too much when ARSB Chark and Reynolds are all playing well

the TD was just a blown coverage, Safety is a backup filling in for the injured starter

we know he's fast; hopefully we get to see his route running soon

Holy crap.
Warren Sharp called it BEFORE the game.

Jameson Williams (WR, Vikings) is our pick for 1st TD Scorer bet in this Week 14 matchup The ideal matchup for Williams if his usage increases this week back. The Vikings defense struggles against outside WRs and Jared Goff excels vs zone coverage https://sharpfootballanalysis.com/betting/nfl-first-touchdown-scorer-bet-picks-prediction/…

Great call Warren!!!

truggles against outside WRs and Jared Goff exce
A guy with one catch gets two threads. Doesn't seem fair.

IDK the media is going bonkers over a 6 win team with a 16% chance of making the playoffs so seems about right lol
21%, the skinny guy with glasses was explaining it on SNF pregame

It bumped up after the Seattle loss. That was huge as it provided another team that the Lions could reasonably leapfrog if the Lions win out.

the big block atm is the WAS at NYG tie. They play each other gain this week so one of them (IF we beat the Jets in New Jersey, and they're a good defensive team a game out) will be 8-5-1. That means best case scenario is they're 1.5 GB with 3 to play.

even if Detroit wins out they need other teams to lose 2 games. Seattle has the H2H tiebreak, are they going to lose 2 of the last 4? That's the 4 teams battling for the last two spots.
  1. PHI (or maybe DAL
  2. MIN or SF
  3. SF or MIN
  4. TB (probably with a losing record)
  5. DAL (or maybe PHI)
  6. SEA goes 10-7 and
  7. DET wins out, then both NYG and WAS have to lose twice

anyway back to Jamo

hope he runs more routes and gets more snaps, but I get it - they have 3 vet WRs playing well and they're in the middle of a dogfight

Is hoping for another NYG and Washington tie too much? That would completely undo the whole travesty of week 13 tie.

If we beat the Jets, we will be 1.5 games behind one of them and only 0.5 behind the other. Seattle plays the 49ers this week and if they lose we are tied with them (they hold the tiebreaker). We have to be at our 2 of the 3 teams to make the playoffs.

First order of business is to beat the Jets. It's the biggest game we've played in years.

Good for both fan bases. Both teams need this game. Probably the biggest game between the Lions and Jets ever.

Close to it - I know we clinched a WC v NYJ at the Silverdome one year when Barry was still playing

Jameson Williams’ 1st NFL catch was for a TD.

Williams was wide open on the play and had 10.9 yards of separation when the pass arrived, the 2nd most open reception on a pass traveling 30+ air yards this season.

He reached 20.31 mph on the play, the fastest speed by a WR on a reception in week 14.

I'm in. Likely be eased in a tad more and more every week. Lions peaking and dare I say trending up still. I'm in on the Lions. Lions fan since like 1965. This run is similar to the feeling we had with Barry Sanders.

It's crazy bc they're in such a hole after starting 1-6. Still only a 21% of making it to the playoffs, and closing out with 5 straight and 8 of 9 is really freaking hard. Plus there are scenarios where they do go 10-7 and still don't get in.

But this season is starting to take on the it's-our-destiny feeling of 1991's One for the Thumb team.

Gotta be like the players and just focus on one game at a time. This Jets team is a tough ****ing out, great D, Garrett Wilson is for real, and Bam Knight is plowing through defenders. Even if they somehow find a way to win, that Carolina team is on their own little run and might sneak past the Bucs. Then two divisional opponents and those are always tough games.

One at a time.

***************

I probably won't start Jamo this week, doesn't feel that kind of game and all three Jets starting corners are a ***** to throw against.

But if I make it past the #6 seed this week I might plug him into the Flex next week because I'll be a big underdog to the 2 seed (who has already thumped me twice so I'll need some lightening in a bottle.)

So, understandably, it has become pretty quiet in this thread. Not able to watch any Lions' games and curious about what we're seeing from Jameson. I would guess they're protecting him by limiting exposure. Any fans insight as we look ahead to 2023?

He hit a home run on the 1st pitch, and they saw enough. Has <20% snap share.

Not much to talk about. Haven't seen him do anything except run 9 routes when he has been targeted (I think there was one bubble screen that got blown up he dropped, was probably going nowhere.)

43 Snaps in 4 games with a high of 13 Wk 14
Routes run: 2-6-4-7
Targets: 1-2-1-1

5th in WR snaps 3 out of 4 weeks. Every week I hear someone ask MCDC, Ben Johnson, or Goff about getting him more involved and it's the same generic non-answer. I guess on the plus side I have not heard anyone say anything remotely close to being negative or vague. No indication there is any issue with knowing the playbook or having a limited route tree.

I would think if he's going to see an uptick then this would be the week. Chicago has a very inexperienced defensive backfield and they're in a controlled environment. But that is purely speculative and not based on anything observable.

Considering he's had time playing and that this game is as close to must win as they've had this year, I have a feeling Ben Johnson has something drawn up for him this week.

He was in the clear for 40-50 yard TD against the Jets I think and Goff slightly under threw him. Maybe with us losing a game, they will try to get him more involved this week but Chark and Reynolds are good pros.

Personally, I expected nothing from h this year. If Chark departs in FA that will be the first good sign for him personally as we look forward to next year

Ben talked about him for a few minutes today. Goff has thrown a good deep ball the second half of this year and Chark has been the biggest beneficiary. They’ve basically been 1 out of 2 on deep shots to Jamo where he had the defender beat.

They’re always going to spread it around. ARSB is their most consistent playmaker & is always a priority, and then they have a number of guys they’re trying to work in behind him. They’re not going to force the ball to anyone.

He’s not getting enough snaps or running enough routes to be impactful. If he’s 5th in WR snaps and routes every week there’s no reason to expect production.

Jameson Williams did not catch any of his three targets in the Lions' Week 17 win over the Bears.

Williams hasn't caught a pass since his 41-yard score in Week 14. He did, however, pick up 40 yards on a carry in this game. Williams has a bright future but still isn't getting enough work to be a fantasy option in Week 18.

Flashed that speed on the carry he had - pretty much a red shirt year but good to see him getting some reps - should be a good discounted buy for next year in redraft
Maybe we are dreaming but there will be fresh draft picks to grab attention next year as well as the established vets that everyone knows by name. And I hope they keep those jet sweeps in his playbook.

I think they've nailed it in how they've handled him.

They brought him back slowly and have really eased him in. He got the long touchdown a few weeks back. He had the 40 yard run yesterday. They've let him do just enough to build his confidence up going into next season.

If the Lions end up in the playoffs, hope he gets a handful of chances to make an impact.

He looked absolutely electric on that jet sweep. I watched the game but my attention was diverted so never saw the 3 targets he had and if he was culpable for any of them not being receptions

Goff seems to connect best with guys he knows best. Reynolds last year, St. Brown this year. Even Chark seemed to get better with more healthy reps. I think once they are on the same wavelength the connection will become better.

Jared was well behind him on the crossing route. Haven’t rewatched so not sure about the other two targets.

I kind of see it the other way...because he has played this season and flashed, he will have put to bed the concerns of coming back from an ACL...I think people will be much higher on him because of this then if he did not play the whole year.

Maybe - but I think like it was said above he may fly under the radar a bit with a new crop of rookie WRs/2d yr WRs that showed promise but didnt break out as much like London - maybe Im just hoping!

Could be...but the fact Detroit was a quality fantasy offense this season won't help either.
