WR Jameson Williams, DET (1 Viewer)

What I've seen in highlight tapes, I would guess he was the #1 receiver prior to injury or is that incorrect?

Just incredibly explosive and dynamic.  I'm sure he'll slide a bit due to the injury, but MAN am I buying

Alabama WR Jameson Williams is receiving no shortage of praise ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Williams tore his ACL in the National Championship Game and he could miss a good bit of the 2022 NFL season. But that doesn't take away from his sheer level of talent and the fact he's projected to be selected at No. 13 overall by The Draft Network is a perfect illustration of that. Mike Renner of PFF also couldn't be much more impressed by Williams, calling him "the best deep threat of the class."

Yahoo! Sports draft analyst Eric Edholm has Alabama WR Jameson Williams going to the Tennessee Titans with the 26th overall pick.

After getting bounced from the playoffs in their first game, the Titans fortified their receiver room with one of the best weapons in this class in Williams (6'2/188). Williams would be a seamless fit with AJ Brown and Julio Jones already there and would be afforded the time to fully heal without huge expectations. Once he gets on the field, OC Todd Downing will have fun running deep over routes, allowing him to use his speed to get open deep. It is also worth noting that Williams is the second receiver off the board in Edholm's mock with three more coming off the board in the next six selections.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, Alabama WR Jameson Williams averaged the most receiving yards per touchdown in 2021.

There is no doubt Williams (6'2/188) is something special. a great burst of speed, incredible route running, all the tools for a top-tier WR. The question going into this draft is the status of the knee. Williams, unfortunately, tore his ACL in the National Championship which certainly hindered the Tides' chances of capturing a title. The recovery process of his knee is something scouts will keep a close eye on. His ability to make big plays this season was evident as he 47.6 yards for his 15 receiving touchdowns. A torn ACL is not as serious as it once was and most players that suffer this injury recover in about nine months. If it all goes according to plan he should be able to play in late September or early October. If he can play as he did in Tuscaloosa, that's a good pick.

while that would be great, I doubt he falls that far. NE should be interested

Alabama WR Jameson Williams says he has begun the recovery process from his torn ACL, and one of his first meetings was with the Atlanta Falcons.

Williams (6'2"/188) was an absolute beast in 2021, completely uncoverable in deep ball situations with his blistering speed. He unfortunately suffered a torn ACL in the national title game, but he should still be one of the top WRs taken in a stacked class. Williams has begun running motions in the pool, but says he won't push it and declined to answer if he would be ready for NFL training camp. That would be a ridiculously fast turnaround for an ACL, especially for a WR that relies so heavily on his legs. One of Williams' first meetings was with the Atlanta Falcons, which makes a lot of sense. They are in desperate need of a WR with Julio Jones gone and Calvin Ridley's status up in the air. Williams and last year's first round draft pick Kyle Pitts would be great pair of weapons to finish out the Matt Ryan era and begin a new one. Williams has also met with the Dolphins, who have drafted quite a few players from Alabama recently, and it seems to be working alright for them.

WR Jameson Williams, who is recovering from a torn ACL, just told me his timeline to return is 5-7 months. Said he’s ahead of schedule. Now 6wks out of surgery, no brace last 2wks, no crutches 3wks. Beast. #NFLCombine

@nflnetwork

I didn't see one for nine pages back in the SP, so I'm in! Love his game. Question will be how does the knee heal and where does he get drafted. Because there seems to be little doubt about his game the past year...

He looks like what people thought Henry Ruggs was going to be (I'm not being lazy when I say that, somebody was already lazy about it for me). But seriously, it's an apt comparison, only Williams is taller and is shiftier than Ruggs, who was a pure straight-line runner without wiggle. Ruggs had better hands, though. What a shame about him.

I have him as my 4th best WR in this class behind Wilson, Burks, and London.  It is between Williams and Bell at #4 IMO.  He's still being projected as a 1st round pick even with the injury.  We will see.

I am hoping he drops to 1.08 in my non-SF league so I can stash him on a rookie Taxi Squad for a season or 2 while he fully heals/gets back up to the level he was at pre-injury! I'm in at that spot!

The easiest way to see if there is already a thread is do a search for the last name in content title only rather than just visually searching pages.
Hand to god, did a search that produced only 5 results and none were directly related.  Search had been buggy for years, thought it was fixed so that is why I prefaced this with delete if Honda but if a mod sees this then please combine relevant posts to former thread.

The Draft Network's Drae Harris has Alabama WR Jameson Williams as his top-receiver and eighth-ranked player on his latest top-50 big board.

The second big board released by TDN this week has Williams (6'2/188) as the top-ranked receiver in the class. After transferring from Ohio State, Williams saw a career renaissance, dominating opponents from the onset. He has a lethal combination of size and speed to outrun and out jump opponents. One thing to consider with Williams is a potential injury tax, as he tore his ACL in the National Championship Game, but Harris doesn't see that as an issue.

ESPN Draft Analyst Todd McShay mocked Alabama WR Jameson Williams to the Chiefs with the 17th overall pick in his latest mock draft.

The Chiefs are in need of some help at receiver after trading Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins for a bevy of picks. McShay mocks Williams (6'2/188) to the Chiefs with the 17th overall pick, one of the picks they received in that trade with the Dolphins. A one-for-one replacement doesn't exist for Hill, but Williams may be the closest thing in this year's draft. His elite speed and ability to win deep may be the best of any receiver in this year's class. Per PFF.com, Williams caught 13-of-32 deep ball targets and converted them to 671 yards and eight scores. His 51.6 yards per reception ranked fourth amongst receivers with at least 10 deep ball receptions in 2021. Williams is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the National Championship game loss to Georgia, but is expected to suit up a few weeks in to his rookie year if his recovery goes according to plan.

How late am I going to be able to get him?  I assume the injury is going to knock him down some.

I assume if he winds up on KC, he's a top 3-5 pick.  What if he winds up with the Jets/Washington/bears?

Hoping to land him late 1st.  Maybe that's a pipe dream.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter

Former Alabama WR Jameson Williams, two months removed from surgery on his torn ACL, is not participating in Alabama’s Pro Day today. But here here he is last week, continuing to progress, with the expectation being that he’ll be running by the draft, per @Alliance_Sports.

Dane Brugler @dpbrugler

There are multiple teams that consider Jameson Williams the WR1 in this draft class. He's not falling as far as some think.

Languished at Ohio State his 1st 2 years, Saban transfers him into Alabama and he rips off almost 1,600 yds and 15 TDs in just one season, his only year as a Crimson Tide, this guy was lightning in a bottle, sensational playmaker and despite the ACL tear, he looks on track to start his NFL career on time. Still very young, could bring him along slowly his rookie season allowing him to fully heal, it's not close the spark when he is full strength, what he brings to a team.

-If not for the ACL injury, Top 5-10, easily? This nonsense he is still on the board in the late teens, just ridiculous.

I was not excited after the ACL tear but when you look at this guy and what he did in a very short period of time. He's everything most GMs want at the WR position, by the time Draft Day arrives, think he might find his way super high on a lot of teams Boards. Don't be shocked if he were to slide, some team from way back ponies up and grabs him.

Yes I was hoping to get him at 1.08 and stash him on my rookie Taxi....but that may be too late all the current chatter going on....

I'm looking at him as a potential at the 1.06.

I think that's an acceptable expectation. But he could easily be 1.03.

Feels to me like the landing spots are going to create much clearer divisions between the receivers this year. Pure talent isn't going to keep one player above another if they land somewhere inferior.

2022 NFL Draft: Gauging the level of concern for notable injured prospects

WR JAMESON WILLIAMS, ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

Injury: Torn ACL in the 2021-22 National Championship

Williams would be more in the WR1 conversation if he hadn’t torn his ACL in Alabama’s title game loss. That said, he still looks like a top-20 lock in the 2022 NFL Draft.

At the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, Williams said he’s on track to be ready for training camp and the start of the regular season...

Don't do this to me guys.  I need him to slide to 1.12.
I moved up from 1.08 (cost me the 2.09 as well) to get to 1.04 so I can have a swipe at him in a Non-SF league, I don't trust the guys in front of me not to take him!

I have the 1.01 already so that will be Hall, and I expect Walker goes 1.02 (who really needs RB help), so I only have to worry about the 1.03 guy.....

I have 1.2 and 1.4 in one of my FFPC's and locking him in at 1.4 today anyway.....depending on landing spots of top 3 RB's perhaps making him 1.2

Alabama WR Jameson Williams drew a comparison to Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill.

Williams (6'2/188) is one of the most highly touted wideouts in the 2022 NFL Draft within a deep class that has a lot of talent. He was most recently compared to Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill by Doug Farrar of USA TODAY SMG for what he's shown on the field, which is nothing short of a compliment. "His skillset is freaky similar to Tyreek Hill," Farrar wrote. It will be interesting to see how much he continues to look like Hill and if he lands in Hill's former home -- the Kansas City Chiefs -- later this month.

Shrine Bowl Director of Football Ops, Player Personnel Eric Galko says he is "expecting" Alabama WR Jameson Williams to be the first WR taken in the draft.

Galko adds in his prediction of Williams (6'2/188) as the draft's WR1 that he believes he will be taken "in the top-10 or 11 picks." It's an interesting tout for a player who suffered a torn ACL in the National Championship game against Georgia, an injury that most believe moved him down draft boards. When he was healthy, Williams was one of the best receivers in the country, going for 78-1561-15 while averaging a blistering 20.0 yards per reception. Williams' lone breakout season came after transferring from Ohio State at the end of the 2020 season.

Jameson Williams is WR1 in this draft.

Plus routes dynamic acceleration, and consistent finishing ability. Complete package.

Expecting him to be the first WR taken, and good chance it's in the top-10 or 11 picks. #NFLDraft

Alabama WR Jameson Williams has seen his odds to be the first wide receiver drafted over the past two weeks.

This group of wide receivers is quite intriguing. Each of the top five players provides a different skill set, making the board increasingly hard to predict. That is what makes the first wide receiver drafted prop for Williams (6'2/188) so intriguing. After being as high as 10/1, it has dropped down to as low as +200 on FanDuel Sportsbook. The rise of Williams is a signal that his knee injury is healing on schedule and fully recover without issue.

@gregcosell & @espnbob have discussed on TapeHeads, there is an increasing emphasis being placed on creating explosive plays by NFL coaches, especially the younger ones. These big-play WRs are in high demand.

Chris Mortensen just said on ESPN that he is hearing Jameson Williams will be going in the top 10.

#Eagles might have to move up if they really want him.
