WR Kadarius Toney (1 Viewer)

Gonna hold as I can’t find 10-189 on the wire. Hell even 6-70 is ####### impossible to find
Very true. But that 1-9 in your lineup down the stretch in a playoff hunt or in the playoffs will kill your team. It's not about the talent here. It's about the opportunity. If he couldn't put up halfway decent numbers when the Giants were low on healthy WRs it's hard to trust him in your lineup. He's a bench stash for now until he starts showing some consistency.

The way he was used indicates that he too is not a healthy WR. Hopefully that will change after the bye week, but there is no way of knowing with this coaching staff.

Question about Toney related to FF scoring. Yahoo has him being “sacked” once this past game. Apparently he lined up in wildcat and got tackled for a 2 yard loss. I didn’t see the play.

Should that be a sack? Was he going to pass the ball?

Our scoring just has him down for a 2 yard rushing loss. If he was sacked I don't think they'd have counted that as negative rushing yards. In college they do, but not the NFL. I didn't see the play either, however.

That is where I landed so I dropped him for Van Jefferson after the Robert Woods news.

I'm rolling him out in two leagues. I think he wasn't fully healthy so they didn't scheme him into the game plan as much. Coming off the bye and fully healthy we should expect a much larger role.

Giants will pass pass pass.  Toney should get a bunch of looks but can Jones execute? I had a choice for flex and am playing Mooney over him.  But hope he starts showing that electric promise for the home stretch

Up 34 with his Brady and Godwin stack vs my Toney tonight. Find my self thinking of the range of outcomes for Toney and I can’t help but think it’s going to be a total dud due to non-usage, or a big game where he is featured. Doesn’t seem like there is any in-between with this guy. Anyone else feel the same?

The problem is the complete unknown of how the Giants plan to use him - factoring in the possibility that the Giants are generally incompetent.

Since his injury, it doesn't seem like he's been used on slants or crossing patterns, the types of plays he could generate significant YAC.  Was that to protect the recovering ankle or the gameplan?  Hopefully we're going to have more clarity tonight.

I could see him having 10 targets and 5 catches for 37 yards if they continue to have him hover near the line of scrimmage.  Or they unleash him and anything could happen.  I agree though it's a total unknown.  I really want to play him but am trying to temper my own (silly) hopes.

All I want is 4 for 50 tonight and to get through a game in good health. I also want to see him in the slot and obliterate TB's slot DBs because TB DB's are in pretty big trouble. I'm just concerned that TB scheme is a lot for Daniel Jones, but IDK, Giants almost beat the Bucs last year. The Giants play hard and think they will be pesky tonight vs. Brady. Should be a closer game than most think IMO

Just hoping Daniel Jones goes for 40 dropbacks and gets the studs involved - Barkley Toney and Golladay (studs)

I have he and E. Moore on my bench this week.  I really need to get at least one to do something the rest of the year.  I lost R Woods and Amari C for next week.  And Higgins just isn't doing it for me so come on Kadarious.  :bye:

Kadarius Toney caught 7-of-12 targets for 40 yards in the Giants' Week 11 loss to the Bucs.

That's a Rondale Moore-esque stat line for fellow rookie Toney, whose 12 targets easily paced the Giants on a night he saw 31.6% of the team's targets. Unfortunately, Toney didn't do much with them despite leading the team in catches and yards. Daniel Jones averaged a pitiful 4.4 yards per attempt, and his lone touchdown went to LT Andrew Thomas on a trick play. Toney was manning the slot for the G-Men with Sterling Shepard still out. His 12 looks were his second-most of the season and just the third time all year Toney has seen more than five targets. Toney is electric with the ball in his hands, but there was no room to be had in this one. Toney will be an upside WR3 next week against the Eagles, though things could get hairier if Shepard is back in the lineup.

From PFF

Monitor Kadarius Toney‘s health: The Giants' first-round rookie suffered a quad contusion late in the game and didn’t return. He was the Giants' favorite target in the game, which led to seven receptions for 40 yards. New York also missed Sterling Shepard in the game. As long as one of the wide receivers remains hurt, it ensures Darius Slayton has a big role in the offense. Pharoh Cooper primarily took over for Toney to end this game. All of these backups should be avoided in the vast majority of leagues.

I'm hoping that just means really really bad bruise. I didn't watch but heard this was later in game when it was out of hand. But yeah the minor injuries are starting to exhibit a trend.

Yeah, with the 12 targets and occasional pass, clear he is integral to their offensive schemes.  He's gotta be one of the better pickups if available.  I had him and dropped, but may go back.

Can't say I am impressed with the Giants QB play.  he tries to force it into coverage when someone else is open.  I dunno.  No scout or pro football player here and just observations of the first half.

Eyeball test... fully with you... Daniel Jones has had plenty of time to show that he is an NFL starting QB.

By comparison it took Justin Herbert about 3 snaps IIRC.

Opposite ends of the spectrum. Well, "Danny Dimes" isn't quite Josh Rosen, but he's close to that group along with Sam Darnold and others busts.

that's putting it mildly....Jones is horrendous and is probably the biggest impediment to Toney stardom.  Jones missed open guys all night, threw an awful interception across the grain.  The good thing is it seems they realize that Toney is special and are trying to get him the ball.  The guy needs to stay healthy though...it seems he's banged up after each game.

The biggest impediment to Toney is that Jones is rarely looking deep downfield.  With whatever limited skills he's operating with, last night it seemed like he was looking to get the ball to his first read as quickly as possible.  Griese noted the potential missed TD pass to Toney in the first quarter.

I have no data on this, but anecdotally it looked like Toney was running more slants and downfield routes than he was before the bye, which may have been an injury protection decision, so that was good to see.

As for injuries, I think people are operating with a small sample size here.  Sometimes injuries happen in football, and sometimes they are going to come in bunches.  Toney's in-season injuries aren't really connected:

- Ankle sprain/pull
- Ankle injury exacerbated the next week, which is probably the result of a poor decision by the Giants' coaching staff/training staff
- Finger crushed by helmet
- Quad muscle bruise/contusion

Those to me sound like things that happen in a football game.  Sometimes they are going to come in bunches for some players.  Other players will have nothing happen to them for a full season.

Toney did have that hamstring pull/strain in training camp.  The fact that has not been a recurring issue is actually probably a big positive so far.

I'm an owner but I don't know how you can list that with a straight face and not say he is injury prone.  He's only been in the nfl for 3 months and that's what happened?  Maybe it's chance but maybe it's the sign of a body that can't stand up to the rigors of the league

What is the outlook going forward? Seems like a hold but won't hesitate to drop for a hotter FA...may have to start him again but PHI isn't a fun matchup.

If Garrett is canned today then maybe there's improvement lol

Well right now I am benching him (actually leaving him there) for E Moore and Higgins.  I know my WRs suck.  A Cooper is out and I had R Woods.  And they suck too.  Luckily I have some good RBs in Taylor, Montgomery, Chubb and Conner.
