Has anyone ever said, “He’s as close as we are going to get to that guy.”? 

Stuart, I don’t think you are crazy at all. I get what you meant. You are saying here is as close as we have had to Calvin as the Lions have gotten since Calvin left  

Golladay put up some impressive rookie numbers when he played and had a direct effect on Marvin Jones’ numbers prior to his injury  

I think for this year there are too many mouths to feed so I expect at lost 800 yards and 8 tds, batting an injury to one of the other main receivers  

 
Athletic freak in a pass heavy offense. Gonna try to stash this guy in every league I play on.

God forbid Tate or Jones get nicked up. Sleeper.

 
Kenny Golladay - WR -  Lions

Kenny Golladay caught 1-of-5 targets for 36 yards in Friday's game versus the Buccaneers.

Golladay saw the most targets from Matthew Stafford while he was in the game. Golladay closes the preseason with three receptions for 49 yards, but is in line for increased usage in his second season in the league. Golladay dealt with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss five games in 2017 as a rookie, but averaged a gaudy 17.0 yards per reception on 28 catches as a rookie. He is an upside bench option in all formats.

Came to this thread to look for pre season information. He fell to me in the 11th round last night and I took him even though I don't know much about him. Wasn't on my radar but I like Stafford.

Preseason stats seem terrible - any locals can pass on how he looked in camp? Any buzz on him or Jones?

 
Half-watching the game but somehow have missed every darn catch of his.  When I'm near the screen it's always Tate and Riddick getting throws (or INTs). How's he looking out there?

He looked dominant in some of his catches and just pretty damn good in the others.  The guy is going to be the #1 next year.  

 
One of the announcers at the end pointed out how him going over the middle for tough catches late in the 4th quarter was going to give Stafford more trust in him.  I agree!  I saw Tate half-### a catch in the 3rd, while Golladay was still giving 100% and if I'm noticing it, I'm sure Stafford also did.  Glad I have the kid in a few leagues, he looks the part to me.

 
Liked what I saw.

DET still can't run the ball and it looks like they can't play defense.

And M. Jones is so boom or bust.

Think Golladay is flex worthy at minimum.

 
Kenny Golladay caught 7-of-12 targets for 114 yards in the Lions' 48-17, Week 1 loss to the Jets on Monday night.

Golladay did most of his work well before this one got out of hand in the third quarter. At one point, he was leading the Lions with eight targets before Golden Tate ended the night with 15 and a touchdown. Golladay also made one of the best plays of the night for the Lions, decking CB Trumaine Johnson after an interception, forcing a fumble and recovering it on his own in Jets territory. Unfortunately, the Lions did nothing with it. Golladay played a career-high 65 snaps (hat tip to PFF's Nathan Jahnke) and needs to be added where he's available. Golladay will head into Week 2 at San Francisco as a big-play threat WR3/4.

Led WR’s in snaps and targets. Looks like WR1 to me moving forward. Wheels up, time for take off.

That drop was on 3rd down with the game still within reach. Well maybe it’s not the same half assed drop you’re talking about, but the one where he was heading toward the sideline. That was the nail in the coffin for us- pretty sure we were down 14 and that would have given us 1st down in the red zone. Anyway, I came just to tell you all that golladay looks like the real deal, and possibly a year earlier than we expected.

 
Definitely passes the eyeball test. Made tough catches and competed hard when the rest of the team seemed to quit. Looks like a stud in the making. Happy Galladays to all fellow dynasty owners!!

Cannot believe how good Galladay looked.  The Lions have a good WR corp but Galladay is going to get his every week.  May be early to call him a WR1 but he is a WR2 with upside for sure.

Yep, that’s the one I was talking about, that sideline non-catch. Turrible effort on that. 

 
12 targets = high floor.  He seemed like Stafford’s go to guy for most of the game and not just garbage time.

If 10ish targets is sustainable I’ll be playing him every week probably in 0.5 PPR

With their perpetually bad running game since the new century began + their leaky defense lions should be playing from behind a lot. None of that hurts Galladay 's potential.

 
This guy is the truth, he can make catches that a lot of other WRs can't. You could see glimpses of it last year, especially before the injury, where he'd make crazy adjustments to balls that looked completely uncatchable. In a vacuum he has elite WR1 upside, on this team I think he has the potential to be an every week WR2. I won't trust anyone who ranks Jones significantly higher than Golladay in their weekly rankings moving forward. It means they aren't paying attention. 

 
Trying to decide between Golladay and Allison on my WW. After reading this I think I am going with Golladay.

To me it's Golliday for sure. Allison has the better QB & Offense, but will likely never surpass the 3rd receiver barring injury. Golliday, on the other hand looks the part to be the WR1 on the Lions.

He looked phenomenal. Offense can run through him. He's 6 ft 4. Stafford rips the ball right to him.

Stafford knows who's going to bail him out. Stafford used to throw to Megatron double and triple covered all the time.

Golladay showing some freakish early success. Have him in Dynasty.

 
Looking at starting Golladay over a gimpy Goodwin as WR2 or in the flex over Cohen.

So looking for more about the downsides -- it's clear he's super talented and the team can rely on him, but how much of this performance was game flow/script, and how truly reliable do we think this level of targets are?

I don't think you're going to have to worry about much as long as this kid stays healthy.

I have a hard time imagining the Lions getting into a running-positive game flow.  I'm seeing a lot of pass attempts on the horizon.

To add to what SU said, they never are able to run the ball and the defense looks like crap. Should be plenty of long range heaves from the QB.

If I'm a Jones owner I'm selling high. Fast.

Not saying Jones will be trash by any means but no way can I see him returning value anywhere near his ADP with a healthy Golladay. 

 
I'm thinking Stafford has locked into Golladay. He's the #1 in his mind because he's making plays. Just don't hang him out to dry.

Giddy up. Picked him up and he's in my lineup over Jimmy Graham, Tyler Lockett, Mike Williams & Marshawn.

Lockett is the only one I am questioning.
