I may agree to disagree on that. If an injury causes you to miss camp with a new signal caller, I think it is somewhat of relevance. Is it enough for me to drop him in ranking, probably not. But if I am deciding between him and someone else I have ranked fairly evenly it may be a deciding factor. It just seems odd to me that he has been dealing with this for so long with no solution.
I can't find anywhere that says when he first got this injury. But I am reading lots of stuff about it being a very old chronic issue. Every time his toe is mentioned, they say it dates back to college. I can't find a single instance of where he missed any time in college or last year because of his toe. None, nada. EXACTLY when did this toe injury occur? When you do a google search about Malik's injury history, his toe never appears. Not in college or the pros. Only 4 things appear:
August 2021 - shoulder injury during preseason, missed first 2 games as a freshmen at LSU
September 2023 - shoulder injury, stayed in game, missed no time
11 August 2024 - sprained ankle during preseason, missed a few practices
26 September 2024 - concussion, missed next 2 games
But do a quick google search and type in "Malik Nabers toe", and you can find thousands of articles, none of which say what the heck actually happened, or when. They all just say his toe has been hampering him since college. Hampering, really? Because his playing time and stats beg to differ. Of the top 10 fantasy WR's last year, he ranks 4th behind only Garrett Wilson, Justin Jefferson, and Ja'Marr Chase in snap percentage. And after his 2 missed games with a shoulder injury as a college freshmen, he played the next 38 without missing time.
Again, I can see why you would say missing practice with a new QB is relevant. Also, I did read that his toe is not something that requires surgery. It's just something he lives with, kind of how Tom Dempsey lived with half a foot and no fingers on his right hand. And I didn't bump him down in my rankings when I drafted him in 1970!
