WR Matt Jones - Active (1 Viewer)

RRaptors

I don't know much about groin injuries, but I'm feeling like I do every year. I sit a guy then he plays and would have helped me win.

Last Year FBG's had an ongoing article every week about Coach Speak. Del Rio was consistently graded high if I remember correctly. That means he does wwhat he sais, and he is straight forward. I have not heard anything from Del Rio suggesting that Matt will sit for sure. only from reporters and columnists saying he is unlikely.

Is this CRAZY thinking?

JDR QUOTE:

"We want to be prepared, but we also want to be as healthy and fresh as possible for the game," coach Jack Del Rio said. "We have to get our team ready to play and have a contingency plan in case some guy doesn't respond."

I'm interested in this as well. This should also be pinned with the other injury threads. I wonder if this would help Reggie or draw more coverage towards him?

I really don't know, but will be trying to follow developments, as I have Jones in 2 leagues. Going to start him in one over Roddy White/Mark Clayton, but bench him for Lee Evans in another. Until I hear news either way that is. If he were healthy, he'd be an automatic start this week.

He didn't practice all week, so I'm at the point now with Jones that I've eliminated him from possibly starting on any of my teams, regardless of if he starts or not. He's likely to not be 100%, and I'd rather go with another guy who will be.

I'm going one further: starting Wilford over Michael Clayton.

I would. If Jones is out Wilford gets open more as Reggie will draw more attention IMO.

ESPN's John Clayton reports Matt Jones (questionable, groin) will be a game-time decision in Week 3.

This isn't a surprise, but if he doesn't play, Reggie Williams and Ernest Wilford are both solid fantasy starts against a banged-up Colts defense. The Jags will test Jones' groin during pre-game warmups before making a decision on whether he'll suit up.

How would this affect Reggie Williams?

Say, for example, would you now start him over Darrell Jackson (vs Giants)?

Info on Williams says with Jones out he gets a bump.

Info on Jackson says with Branch in the lineup he gets a bump.

Which line of thought is correct (adding another threat or taking one away)?

And who is the better option this week?

Uh... I wouldn't start any non-top-8 WR over a healthy D Jack.

Does Dodds know something about this situation? Latest projections would seem to show that....

The Jaguars local pregame show just said Matt Jones will play. They did not say start, but said he would go today.

Matt Jones is active for the Jaguars.

No confirmation yet whether he will start. He's a risky play because of his calf injury, but Jones has an outstanding matchup against a faltering Colts secondary.

JAX - WR Jones To Start

Summary: There had been lots of worries about his availability but WR Matt Jones will start today.

This makes it tough now...he's not practiced all week, but he's starting? How effective can he be?

I have to decide whether to take the chance on him or plug someone like Branch or Troy Brown in his place.

I like Jones, but I never like starting a player that hasn't practiced all week.

I got the same worriesTryin to decide here between Jones, Edwards (vs Balt) or Williamson (vs Chi)

My choices are Jones or Coles. Both shaky but because of byes they are my choices. I'm going Jones over Coles in a very windy Buffalo.

Same here -- Jones or Colston.

My choice right now is Jones or Moulds. I think Jones is the better play, but am not sure if he'll be in all game. I wish he would of been ruled out. Now I don't know what to do. :wall:

See Brian Westbrook.

I think if I had a clear #1 WR as an option to Jones, I'd be sitting Jones. I just don't see the risk being worth it.

tough call.Edwards vs. any other D, plus a healthy starting RB, would be the playWilliamson, similar thoughtsI'm going with Jones over Edwards and Evans. Probably regret it, but WTF

I'm there w/ you in Jones vs. Evans. Right now I have Evans in, I think I'm going to stay that way too. It's the Jets and Evans should have had a 50 yard TD catch, but he was interfered with. Hopefully he'll make up for that this week.

I have to flex out either Wilford or Jones--I'm going with Jones. He should at least be in there when the Jags get in the red zone. Plus, most of his catches the last two games have come on one series where Leftwich tragets him for three or four catches right in a row. It doesn't seem like Jones has to be 100% healthy for the entire game to be effective.

I have to start him as well. With Larry Johnson on a bye, I will place Jones in the flex position over Jenkins as you never know if Vick is going to throw the ball at all. If I had my star RB, I would be keeping Jones on the bench today

Tough tough call. I had already decided to bench Matt jones and start Cotchery or Branch. Most of the replies I got said to start Cotch but it seems Coles will play after all and it's windy as hell in Buffalo? Branch is still too risky. Maybe I should start Jones after all.
