WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (2 Viewers)

The point isn't that Norman was going to hit him with a bat, it's that Norman and the Panthers were instigators here. Even on the Beckham blindside, Norman started it off with a massive slap upside the head.

If Beckham gets suspended, Norman needs to get suspended too.
This. Beckhams hit was the worst, but they both were going at it. Beckham just put the hammer down and Norman would have too if given the chance.

I say throw em both out for one game. If they don't want this behavior, they have to curb it immediately and the only way to do that is to suspend both.

I'm fine with that. I'm a Julio owner and I'm playing against OBJ in the championship.

On a non-biased note, it would be nice if we could stick to the relevant info about the situation. Most people in here either want him to play next week because they own him, or don't want him to play because they are playing him...

But Norman didn't. Maybe he would have, maybe not. But he didn't, Beckham did.

It's not like Beckham just took a swing, he launched at his head. It would be an illegal move if Beckham was a defender trying to make a tckle, to do it on the blindside after a play for no reason is ridiculous

I like Odell, but he crossed the line big time and he needs put down for a bit. Of course the Panthers were instigating him, I have news after this meltdown he's going to be a prime target for every team. There's blood in the water and everyone is going to try and send him crazy again.

owned him traded him, beat him this week. so i have no dog in this fight

Although I am a Dallas fan, i loved this kid. Hopefully this was an anomaly. I like his style, i like how he plays, but he completely lost his #### and that hit was beyond uncalled for. Like I said, hopefully this was a crazy moment and does not develop into a pattern of him being some cheap shot artist.

I think the fact that it was a premeditated hit that was outside of a football play with intent to hurt will be the biggest factor.

He may have melted down, but if you try that against Odell you will get absolutely torched imo. If Beckham doesn't drop that bomb where he blew past Norman, he puts up a statline on Norman that you can't get by adding 6 other studs totals combined.

Norman and Odell both were part of this. If people want to make it all about the blindside, fine.

NFL will have to come down strongly to curb this type of behavior, and I think they'll suspend both...

or this latest "bat" stuff is just the NFL leaking stuff so that they don't have to suspend Odell.

Hold on here.

How many of you actually watched the game?

To me, it certainly looked like Norman was being as much of a DB as Beckham. There were several tussles between the two - about a half started by Norman, throwing Beckham to ground, hands to the face, etc.

The refs/league didn't do more than just give personal fouls because the league hyped this ridiculous match up all week. I'm sure the ratings for that game were sky high. Refs/league didn't have the cajones to kick either one, or both, out...which would have been the right thing to do after the initial warning.

I blame the ####### coaches for keeping them both out there too.

Nothing to see here...

Now...Beckham's warm up shoes? Kinda gay. Kinda festive too. Festively gay...not that there is anything wrong with that, mind you.

I went back and watched the game. Something weird must have happened off the field. Both of these players lost it, and they typically aren't like this. If Odell just took a cheap shot at a random player, that's one thing. But both guys had it out for each other the whole game. Yeah Odell escalated it, but he's young and got caught in the moment.

of course it is all about the blindside

yes both were involved, but that hit is ridiculous. If both are suspended Odell has to get more. That was a concussion and'or neck injury waiting to happen, and it was an intentional attack on a dead ball. Nothing Norman did or said compares to that. Sorry, Odell just took it too far.

I agree, but you are minimizing that head hit too much

that #### is dangerous and uncalled for. Both guys were being tools, but then one cranked it up to 11.

While you may be right, the fact that Norman got into his head is exactly why he dropped that pass. Beckham has the chance to be one of the best who ever played the game. I hope he learned something yesterday. You cannot allow a defender to get inside your head that badly.

and i agree not everyone has the skills to do what Norman did. But everyone is gonna be chippy with Beckham now, because he showed a weakness so people will try to exploit it. I imagine most will fail because he is just that good.

Agreed.

I don't fully understand some of the arguments or attempts to justify/mitigate ODB's behavior here. Personally, Im not going to characterize him as anything based on his actions. He's young, its an emotional game, he took it a significant step too far. And he should pay a consequence for it. 1 game suspension sounds about right to me. Then we all move on.

Sucks if you are counting on him for FF championships but absolutely deserved. That hit is completely out of line in ANY era of football, let alone a day and age where concussions, targetting, and helmet to helmet contact are such a point of emphasis.

I also am going to give him the benefit of the doubt, a huge game aginast an undefeated team with a direct challenge to him by an elite young CB, he got too amped and it went haywire

i'll assume it was an anomaly and continue to enjoy watching this guy and pulling for him as much as a cowboys fan can.

The NFL isn't in a position to set such a precedent.

I think he meant give him the benefit of the doubt in terms of judging his overall character.

He already stated a suspension is deserved and if both were suspended, Odell should get more.

i do not think they should

i think he needs a game off. But i am saying personally, I like this guy. But i hate cheap shot artists. So I am going to assume i can still like him and this was out of character...for now.

Correct!

Oh, please. Twitter & IG have wanted him to be gay so hard for like the last year.

If he's straight, that's some NexrGen ® trolling on his part.

ESPN does not want to accept that.

By the way, this wasn't a hit outside of the play. He was going in for what would have been a clean block in the middle of the play, only he hit him in the helmet instead of in the chest.

Agreed. Simple as that. We've seen a million chippy almost fights on the field, but that launching at the helmet was way over the line. Kind of like a bar fight were one guy decides to pull out a weapon. Both guys may have been ##### and went at it but there is a pretty easy to see line that Odell crossed. What if Norman got hurt and was out for the season? Nothing Norman did was going to hurt Beckham and after the start it seemed to be pretty much all Odell. Big difference in the sidelines. Lots of Panthers coming over and calming Norman. Not a single Giant did the same with Odell until after the launch and it was barely a discussion with a coach and Odell blew him off.

Now, what did his suspension accomplish?

Will it stop him from being emotional?

Will it stop people from hitting people in the head?

Um, I imagine that's the point? What would you like him to do? Is Josh Norman going to learn from this as well?

Seem that you are inferring that he shouldn't be suspended because he was emotional.. Are we only suspending sociopaths now?

1. Teach a young hot head to keep his composure.

2. Possibly teach Coughlin (and other coaches in the future) a lesson as well. He could have avoided losing his best player next week if he'd have pulled him from the game for a series or two when it was obvious he was out of control.

Oh stop it.
It's true. Watch the play.
Saw it dozens of times. So you're claiming Beckham was just making your standard, run of the mill block to help his teammate?
No I never said that. I said it wasn't a hit outside of the play. The play was happening right in front of them. It was helmet-to-helmet and a rather vicious one. Now he's paying the price. All the keyboard warriors get their vengeance for this travesty.

Hopefully Norman gets fined, as he acted like a huge punk the whole game.
