WR pickups for week 10 (1 Viewer)

In more competitive leagues, there is little hope of getting a quality free agent pick up unless you plan in advance at least a week or two. Usually I can find bye or injury coverage by planning ahead, but week 10 is looking grim for a WR 3. PPR scoring

My initial list:

MIN @ DET -- Rice, Berrian, Harvin all taken, anyone else?

BAL @ CLE -- Kelly Washington is surprisingly consistent and available

NOS @ STL -- Devrey Henderson appears to be splitting time with Lance Moore, Meacham is a big stretch

NYJ @ JAC -- Clowney? With a rookie QB?

BUF @ TEN -- Hardy just came back, Reed?

MIA @ TBB -- worried about trap game after Jets and Pats, but Bess, Ginn, Camarillo all available

OAK @ KCC -- Schilens might be back, JaMarcus makes the rest look bad

CHI @ SF -- Earl Bennett is still out there

STL @ NOS -- Keenan Burton is still out there, lots of catch up throws

GBP @ DAL -- likely high scoring, James Jones is available

What do others think? Are there any that stand out?

Henderson splits time with Meacham (roughly 70/30). With Moore dinged up, Meacham will get a little more time in 3wr sets. Both are worth a flyer, with Hendo>Meach

Malcom Floyd and Devin Thomas are two good WR pickups. One or both could be available in some leagues, depending on the roster sizes.

Good to hear Hardy is back. He is extremely talented, but injuries have plagued him. I thought he was better than Manningham coming out of school.

I'm thinking Sammie Stroughter in Tampa. New QB in there with Freeman, and we have no idea who will be the primary beneficiary at WR (assume Winslow will get his).

Bryant is the #1 obviously, but is not producing and the team may continue to want to see what Stroughter can do.

Floyd is going to be on every one's list with Chambers gone, and SD has a bad match up with PHI in week 10. No thanks.Devin Thomas has Campbell throwing the ball, and goes against the Broncos in week 10. No thanks.

Agree -- this may be a trap game where Tampa goes for local bragging rights, and MIA comes off big games against Jets and Patriots. Sammie seems to be a good possession WR, and Freeman will likely play ball control. Hmmm....

Thanks, the split info is very helpful. Moore's injury looks like a shin injury which should be minor, but who knows with reporting on injuries.

Don't forget the PIT game. If M. Wallace is still on the WW grab him now.
I think he is taken in most league....I can't think of any reason he would be on the WW at this point
You would think that, but I just grabbed him yesterday because he was dropped because of the bye week. No idea why you would do that but just mentioning.

I think Bryant is healthy now, and has shown he can produce with poo-poo at QB. I think he's the one to get if he's avail.Coming off the BYE, maybe settling the QB situation...just saying.

NE plays Indy week 10. I'm assuming all the Indy receivers of note are taken, but what about Sam Aiken on NE?
Is Sam Aiken a good choice if you already have Randy Moss in a redraft league that starts 3 WR's? (non-ppr)
In a PPR, the NE receiver to own is Welker for consistent points, Moss for the home run games.Aiken is currently running 3rd, but Brandon Tate was activated before the London game. He was the cause of Brady's interception so will be nursed along slowly, but Tate is clearly the future. So it's a hard call, kind of like Collie vs. Garcon on the Indy side. And when Edelman will be back from the broken bone in his arm is unknown

Are you saying he will be nursed along slowly because of the interception ? Brady's pass was woefully under thrown.

From the Boston Globe:...

"Unlike 2007, the Patriots cannot rely on a varied, experienced stable of wide receivers, evidenced by Tate’s transition. The Patriots predicated their ’07 attack, in part, on the ability to line up the same receiving personnel in different spots and positions.

As a rookie, Tate will learn only one position for now so he is not overloaded. Even then, it can be difficult for a rookie. In the last game, he ran a wrong route, which led to an interception for Brady.

“It’s hard for any young player, whether it’s him or Julian, to give them a large volume right away,’’ Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio said. “You try to start them at one particular point and let them sort of build on that and get comfortable with one particular thing.

“In the end, you like to have as much flexibility as possible so that you can move players around and you can use multiple formations.’’

At some point in the future, perhaps Tate will play a role similar to the wide receivers on the 2007 team. For now, the Patriots have figured out that their time as a pass-happy scoring machine, even with Brady, has likely ceded to a more balanced attack. The results will be less gaudy, but not necessarily less effective."
