WR Puka Nacua LAR (1 Viewer)

So who's the pickup if he's out? Atwell (I recall him having a few good games when Kupp was out a few years ago)? Whittington being the more direct replacement? Or none of the above; Stafford will just force feed Davante?
I think it's most likely feeding Davante with more Whittington but I think there is a chance for a Terrance Ferguson coming out party.
Ferguson coming out party? That is what Mina Kimes wants. I like Whittington to assume the Puka role just fine, maybe a few more opps for Ferguson.

Yes I think there is a "chance" he takes on a bulk of the Puka role. I phrased it in such a way as to try and indicate I'm not rising to level of predicting it, I'm not ready to put him in my lineup. But I am trying to put him one some teams in case it comes to fruition and his price increases.

Recall that they tried to trade up for Bowers because a lot of what they asked out of Kupp and out of Puka are things Bowers does well. Big slot who can handle a lot of blocking. There was talk this off-season when they drafted Ferguson, from people like Jourdana Rodriguee, that his role in this offense was possibly more of a big slot then actual TE.

Sean McVay on Puka Nacua: “He's making good progress. I am very optimistic about hopefully having him ready after the bye. I think it'll serve him well and I have confidence in our other receivers to be able to step up.”
If I remember correctly, McVay is usually pretty honest in his media statements

Not about running backs. Puka's injury, maybe. But McVay has this unique talent of lying through his teeth when his mouth isn't even moving.

Maybe yes in terms of injuries is what it is. I just remember in the summer when he was giving reports on Stafford's back, I was listening to a podcast that had a guy who kept a coach truth index and he mentioned McVay was pretty trusthworthy when he discussing timelines on injuries.

That's why I said about running backs. :) That's probably Coachspeak Index or somebody who reads him over at Fantasy Points. He built a following on Twitter. He's pretty good, but nothing is free anymore. You gots to pay the piper, baby.

There's literally a class that all HC's must take about how to lie to the media about their players.
Sincerely,
Head Coach

Well, not quite a coming out party but he did arrive fashionably late and made an appearance.

You nailed it! I was a bit surprised he was not involved a bit earlier and Colby was getting run. Hopefully his time is coming.

This guy the Bob Sanders of WRs?
In defense of Bob Sanders, in 2006 the Colts looked like the worst team in history against the run. Sanders was of course injured. He comes back for the playoffs and the Colts looked like the ‘85 Bears, stuffing all RBs they faced on the way to a title.

Oh yeah my point is

“Great player, always often injured”

Bob was a gangster when he was on the field

Rib injuries are just pain tolerance. Can't do much for them except pad him up and give a pain killer. He should be good to go.

I don't know what to do with this. It seems like a live grenade, but is it like a whopee cushion live grenade, or how is this is this?
Since entering The NFL in 2023 Puka has ranked 6th,2nd and 1st in total points scored by wide receivers in ppr formats.
We can discuss what type of "glass" that makes him
I’ll gladly sacrifice a game or two a year when it means a virtually guaranteed 25+PPR points a week, with a few 40 point spike games.

Now, we’ll cross that “but what if Stafford” bridge when we have to. For now, I’m going to enjoy the ride.

I would say he's actually the bull in the china shop most days.

*whispers in a Minnesota accent* psssst! he's over there! be quiet and don't wake him!

Definitely been a huge drop in targets for Puka after he came back from his injury. Even his snaps totals are down because of them using multiple TE sets. Luckily, he's found the end zone a couple times to keep his fantasy value high, but he used to be worth 20 without even scoring a touchdown.

Hes been kind of meh lately
He started the season with five consecutive games of 20+ fantasy points. He now hasn't had a 20+ game since week 9. He's gone from 12.5 targets per game before their bye to 8.5 targets in the last 5 games. Between the Rams using three tight end sets and Puka being on the sideline, and Stafford's obsession with Adams when they're in the red zone, Puka's value has taken a huge hit recently.

This was the main reason why I avoided Nacua at his cost and targeted Adams at his cost. Adams has always been a beast near the goalline, that limits Nacua's TD upside, and so it would take insane volume for Nacua to live up to his draft capital. Still think Nacua is a great WR and I love watching him play. But he is playing next to a WR that will likely be in Canton sometime in the future. And the Rams have two pretty good RBs in Kyren and Corum that keep the offense balanced. Not completely surprised that Nacua couldn't keep up his insane pace to start the season.

For the most part, LAR are winning games with this formula.

I have the choice of Puka and Adams in a Guillotine League and still going Puka .. I believe his floor is higher than Adams. IF Adams doesn't catch a TD his number are not good. 5 to 6 targets a games.

I think Mike Shanahan teaches that class.

Counterpoint. There’s only been 3 weeks Davante has not caught a TD pass.

Adams is like late-career Jerome Bettis. Not very productive, but will give you plenty of short yardage touchdowns.

Holders have been spoiled and become accustomed to an automatic 20+ points, hopefully he can find that magic again for the stretch run.

I certainly would take a 15 point floor out of my WR in the other slot, Justin Jefferson.

Puka is still WR2 on the season in PPG. He's WR6 since coming back from injury after the bye. WR10 in the last 4 weeks which is his cherry picked worst 4 game stretch of the year.

Yeah, I want the 20 point floor with 30 points every other week we were getting early on, but you're right we are very spoiled.

Wow juat goes to show you how crappy wr scoring in general has been this season.
