WR Sammy Watkins, BAL (2 Viewers)

I'm just expecting him to miss the rest of the year.   If he comes back he better be 100% or Buffalo is even more poorly run than I thought. 

 
If Watkins isn't injured, he's unhappy with the offense. I don't see him staying in Buffalo once that contract is up.

It doesn't sound promising for him. I defended him against the injury prone talk for a while but now it's starting to become too difficult to object. He may not have missed as many games as OBJ, but he plays with nagging injuries constantly. The dude is rarely healthy. Maybe it's bad luck, I don't know.

As a Bills fan & Watkins owner, I'm holding for now. Took him too early to just cut him. I dumped him last year after becoming frustrated with him and he blew up at the end of the year. I'm afraid something like that may happen again. If it's serious then they need to shut him down. There's really only 3 logical explanations:

  1. Hoping he can play soon
  2. He can play this season but no IR designation because he will be healthy sooner than 8 weeks
  3. They're lying about his health and keeping him on the roster to force teams to gameplan for him

Never happen.  But good lord, what a pipe dream it is to consider.  This must be what Gordon feels like no wonder he can't quit it.

 
well that made it easy to cut him. Sigh - it's actually a little bit of a relief since I have 2 WRs out in week 5, and this allows me to at least field a full lineup. 

Moncrief better come back without complications, or my once proud Evans/Moncrief/Watkins/Snead WR corps just looks like a huge turd. :(

Why is Mehta the only one with this report?  How is it that a Jets beat writer got this info and no national or local Bills guys have it?  

I don't own Watkins and I am a Jets fan, not a Bills fan, but this smells a bit fishy and as mentioned Mehta is a weasel.

Guess u should trust Mehta going forward, and not Rex Ryan. Or at least admit he got the scoop on this one.

 
Bills placed WR Sammy Watkins (foot) on injured reserve.
Watkins was already ruled out for Week 4. His foot injury wasn't showing any signs of improving, though the reports were he was only dealing with pain management. Watkins will miss at least the next eight weeks on I.R, making Week 12 his earliest possible return. It's a huge blow to an offense that doesn't have any playmakers outside of LeSean McCoy. Buffalo signed Justin Hunter to add depth behind Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin.

Ugh.  I don't want to cut bait on him this early in the season although I kinda wish they would just IR him because there are guys on my wire that I would prefer to the uncertainty of Sammy (Enunwa, Pitta & Eifert combined TE/WR league). I just haven't been able to make myself pull the trigger on them because of the hope of Sammy's upside and I won't pull the trigger without some clarity on Sammy.

Never gonna happen.  Even as young as he is, he's just a tease on the CM spiller/insert every promising wr that just can't stay healthy or sober here" level.

Correct.  I am waiting simply because I can't grab Eifert until next week because the Bengals played last night so he is subject to next weeks waivers.  Anyone on my wire now that I can pick up and am interested in (Enunwa, Thomas, Pitta, Dorsett etc) are really just a spec add (hopefully lottery ticket) and will likely be available on Sunday morning.

I get that, but I guess I don't understand what could possibly change between now and Sunday. IR isn't reversible. He's gone for 8 weeks regardless of any news that comes out in that time span. 

 
Great news.  Hopefully he'll be raring to go for the playoffs.  In the meantime, I can stash him on IR and free up a roster spot.

2 months of rest might be just what he needs, and then he'll have a few games to get prepared for the playoffs.

This makes Watkins the ultimate flier right now.  If he gets dropped or he can be acquired for peanuts, he could be a WR1 in the playoffs and you could acquire him for dirt cheap prices.

Well, I do want to hear if he's actually going to come back in Week 12, or if that's just the earliest he *could* be back. But yeah, I'm probably going to drop him no matter what. My comment was more on the limited options available on the WW in my league (16-team standard). If there was an obvious pick-up, I'd grab him now. But I don't feel the need to move quickly just to make sure I get a JAG like Woods.

Wait, six bench spots is shallow? I've been playing for years and have never had more than 5 bench. I'm pretty sure that's Yahoo's default setting.

I've been in a dynasty league for the past 10 years with 22 active spots and 15 taxi squad. Non-IDP. Start 9. This is very shallow compared to what i've gotten accustomed to.

 
I've dropped him in one league, but really that is mainly only because 1 ) RB depth is insane but a little light at WR 2 ) it's a ten man league so the Waiver wire is a little richer in terms of product. Tyrell Williams was who I picked up but there was also Steve Smith l, Crowder, M Thomas and a few others. 

8 weeks out = 8 weeks where I could use an extra option at WR instead of carrying dead weight.

 
He has his own injury issues, but I'm not so sure that Goodwin doesn't end up being the Bills WR with any value with Watkins gone. His deep ball speed matches well with Tyrod's biggest passing strengths.

 
One of my worst draft day mistakes ever.  I overlooked the track record of that foot surgery and should have passed.  Saw that he was playing in preseason and that was good enough for me.  Oh well.  Lesson learned.  Treating it like an in-season injury and will go with the flow.  Thank God I traded for Antonio Brown a few days ago.  Will patchwork the liked of Crabtree, Jordan Reed, Hurns as the other 2 receivers, but I was really salivating having Antonio/Sammy come playoff time.  Bummer

Ummm....just out of curiosity Judge, perchance you'd tell us how you procured one A. Brown? I've tried, believe me I tried. Even had a deal that include David Johnson. All for naught....

Yeah mostly because I see all the guys available on my wire as pretty much interchangable.  I waffled between Enunwa, M.Thomas & Pitta about a dozen times last night.  It became a situation of paralysis-by-analysis.  But something did change since my post and this morning (at least it was new information to me): Decker is officially out this week, is being called week-to-week and his diagnosis is officially a partially torn rotator cuff.  So because of that I picked up Enunwa this morning.

Yup.  I am not thrilled with Enunwa, or any of the other guys on my wire, but QE is the guy available with the most opportunity going forward so, IMO, that made him the obvious pick-up this morning.

 
I wish I could have got Enunwa from waivers. With Decker hurt, there's going to be a lot of targets his way (there were before, can only go up). He was bad against the Chiefs but that is because Fitz had the worst game of his career. I don't expect Fitz to throw 6 picks again. Lost Gordon TH. Moncrief is hurt. I had to trade Lamar Miller to get WR help.

 
Watkins is a pretty clear "buy" in dynasty, in my opinion. I still have him as a top 10 WR, similar to guys like Cooper and Robinson.

Been buying him EVERYWHERE and have too many shares. But I don't care, Sammy is in the Nuk, Evans, OBJ tier and people are dropping him into tier 3(KBenj, Moncrief, types). I almost unloaded Sammy for Moncrief/DGB and then went back and looked at Sammy's breakout the last half of the season last year. His time is coming and I truly expect him to recover and dominate.

CJ Anderson and Will Fuller for Antonio Brown and Frank Gore. He had his choice of Lamar Miller or CJ and chose the latter. Was desperate for an upgrade at RB and I was deep with lotto tickets like CMike and Ware.
