Well, he wants a huge deal. That might be why.It is insane to me that this is going this far, sign the the guy to a three year and be done. Why would you not?I'd think they gotta pay him.

In there current situation however (and I do not know what he is asking for), it seems to make sense to sign him for extension that essentially ends when Daniels is up for contract. If he ends up leaving their receiver core turns into the worst in the league with a quarterback who needs to continue to develop. My comments go by the wayside if he is asking for too much.I'm sure they will but I don't think he's as good as you do. I'm not giving him two "really's" that's for sure. Like I said, a WR2 to me and I mean in real life terms.I mean, he is really really good. And he’s not really a body type that seems to be aging poorly. Personally I think they should pay him. He’s clearly their best receiver and by a lot. He’s also got rapport with their young quarterback.I'd rather trade him then pay a 30 year old WR2 $33m plus.
Just don't think he's a $33m plus player and he's more likely to start a decline at this age then improve.
Also to the bolded it's a hard comp because their styles are night and day different but I'm not going to say he's better then Deebo and I will say I think Deebo outperforms him in fantasy this season. I have in fact been saying that around here a few times.
I think they complement each other. I do agree with you that Deebo will be a better fantasy asset this year. The only league I have TMC in I also have Deebo so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.I'm sure they will but I don't think he's as good as you do. I'm not giving him two "really's" that's for sure. Like I said, a WR2 to me and I mean in real life terms.I mean, he is really really good. Trade him to Cleveland.
This Is The Window. That's why. It is time. If not now then when? Put it off for 2 years while a later round wr matures? Gotta take your shots. He's shown he can mesh with JD. I do not think Deebo is the better receiver, but you could be right as far as FF performance. WAS had a lot of manufactured passes around the line of scrimmage, and that could bode well for Deebo’s stats. I would wager Terry’s TD’s regress and between the two that could certainly create your projected scenario.I'm sure they will but I don't think he's as good as you do. I'm not giving him two "really's" that's for sure. Like I said, a WR2 to me and I mean in real life terms.I mean, he is really really good. Ok, ok. The Jets then.Ummmm. NO?Trade him to Cleveland.
We can agree to disagree and like I said they are totally different so hard comp but the player I expect Deebo to be this year is one I think is going to offer the team more then Terry.I do not think Deebo is the better receiver
From what I heard from a few reliable people that once DK signed that was his starting point.I do not know what he is asking for)
Possibly, have not seen peak Deebo for a minute. If that shows up I will agree with you. However, let’s not pretend Terry is nothing. He was a big part of that offense last year and if he were to leave WAS has a major problem. I agree he is not top tier, but it makes too much sense to pay the guy to keep things rolling and have his contract be a non-issue once Daniels needs the bag.We can agree to disagree and like I said they are totally different so hard comp but the player I expect Deebo to be this year is one I think is going to offer the team more then Terry.I do not think Deebo is the better receiver
Curious do you think Metcalf is worth the $33mil he’s making? Terry had more catches (82 vs 66) more yards (1096 vs 992) and almost tripled DK with touchdowns (13 vs 5) despite them only having 9 targets difference between them in 2024. So clearly the market was already set and if Metcalf is getting $33 mil I don’t know how you can think Terry isn’t as well with much better numbers. Just a homers 2 cents.I'm sure they will but I don't think he's as good as you do. I'm not giving him two "really's" that's for sure. And to me he was every bit of that the first few games of last year before he got pnuemonio and hurt.Possibly, have not seen peak Deebo for a minute
Time will tell, hope you are right. One the more fun players to watch when at a prime level. And to me he was every bit of that the first few games of last year before he got pnuemonio and hurt.Possibly, have not seen peak Deebo for a minute
No, I'm a Steeler fan and was one of the few who was not thrilled with that trade.Curious do you think Metcalf is worth the $33mil he’s making?
Garret Wilson could use someone to take the pressure off...Ok, ok. The Jets then.Ummmm. NO?Trade him to Cleveland.
New Ownership, maybe? It is insane to me that this is going this far, sign the the guy to a three year and be done. Why would you not?I'd think they gotta pay him.
Right??/!!
Maybe. But with a young QB and a window with a rookie contract..,it makes too much sense not to waste these years.New Ownership, maybe? It is insane to me that this is going this far, sign the the guy to a three year and be done. Why would you not?I'd think they gotta pay him.

He has 4.35 speed, five straight 1,000+ yard seasons (900+ as a rookie) with arguably the worst roster of QBs in the league (2019-2023), hasn't missed a game in four seasons, won't be 30 for another two months or so and had his best season last year. He may not be Chase, JJ or CeeDee but it's difficult to argue he isn't in that next tier with Puka, Nabers, ARSB etc.I'm sure they will but I don't think he's as good as you do. That's what he was at the combine, most 30 year old's get slower. He has 4.35 speed
And that's a whopping 65.7 yards a game during that time. Good, not great and this all relative to pay.five straight 1,000+ yard seasons
And his overall numbers did not improve with a stud QB, just TD's.rguably the worst roster of QBs in the league (2019-2023
I believe in trying to pay players for what you think they will do, not what they did.hasn't missed a game in four seasons,
He will play two more games in his life before he turns 30 so please lets's not do this and just call him 30.won't be 30 for another two months
I don't think that's difficult at all but again this all relative to contract and none of them get paid remotely like he's asking, of course the first two are in no position to make that demand now but if they were on the open market of course they'd be worth a lot more due in part to ability but also age. This is a multi year future commitment, again not paying for what you did.it's difficult to argue he isn't in that next tier with Puka, Nabers, ARSB etc.
Do you know what he's asking for? Because all I've heard is DK money and that sounds fairly reasonable.I love Terry but he has a year left on his deal and we can tag him twice. He’s getting terrible advice from his “agent”. I’m sure Peters wants to give him a reasonable extension but he’s gotta come back to earth’s atmosphere first.
His “agent” has Terry and like 5 or 6 nobodies in his book. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.
More than anything I’m just disappointed Terry is dumb enough to buy into his nonsense.

Schefter said “significantly more” than DK. Maybe that’s more AAV, maybe it’s longer commitment, or both. Either way, DK is 4 years younger. Sutton is a much better comp. Higgins deal would be reasonable.

The question becomes if you don't pay him, then how do you replace him? That's the situation WAS is in, and not a situation that Sutton or Higgins find themselves in. Even Pitt didn't /need/ DK, they just didn't want to keep their own headache in house and their QB is old enough that he doesn't need a bunch of reps to get up to speed with a new player.
I don't mind him making over what he would be anywhere else, because WAS needs him more than anywhere else.
I actually totally forgot about his recent extension and you are right, that's a lot better comp.Sutton is a much better comp.

They don’t have to pay him or replace him. He’s under contract for another year and can be tagged twice. He has no leverage and is using up all the goodwill he’s earned quickly. If he comes back to earth he’ll get paid. If he doesn’t, he won’t.

Exactly, at the very least they need someone to replace his stats or they'd be going into the season handicapping their still growing phenom at QB.Agree.Neither player means as much to their offense as Terry does. WAS has had him and nobody else, and even Deebo is a compliment to his style of play.

And a reminder of the stats from earlier this thread. Washington badly needs McLaurin and will be giving up wins if they trade him in my opinion.
Washington QBs when throwing to Terry McLaurin since he entered the league:
• 100.3 passer rating
• 8.8 yards per attempt
• 2.5 TD/INT ratio
• 0.27 EPA per dropback
Washington QBs throwing to anyone other than McLaurin since 2019:
• 82.0 passer rating
• 6.2 yards per attempt
• 1.3 TD/INT ratio
• -0.13 EPA per dropback

DK is two years, three months younger than McLaurin (27 & 229 days to 29 & 319 days).Do you know what he's asking for? McLaurin is going to get a deal from the Commanders. It’s been said here but this is possible with the Daniel rookie QB deal. No way the Commanders squander this window for a player that has been consistently great over his entire career with the team. I expect a deal in the next week. I don’t see this dragging on for long. Cooler heads will prevail on this matter.
Yeah, both sides have been pleasantly tight-lipped about numbers so far. The "wanting a trade" thing is the first break in that silence. The fact is we don't know the numbers from either side. I'm surprised Terry's agent hasn't put it out there TBH.
Washington fans have a LOT of negotiating power. Especially coming off a new owner, an unexpected run into the playoffs, ongoing negotiations for a new stadium. There's a hell of a lot of goodwill flowing around the team right now and a good bit of it will be lost if they don't sign him. Another camp body and a pile of money left on the bench won't win them any games.Terry has little negotiating power here.

I think you're in the vast minority.Well not all fans are on his side. I'm certainly not. Would love to have him back. He's a top 20 WR. But he is not acting like a "team" guy if everything is heading in the right direction for the franchise and he's the only 'problem' right now. He's using that situation to try to get a new deal. Which hey, you do you Terry. But I doubt a real team guy would laugh about having the 16th highest WR salary this season. He wants his next paycheck. Fine. But this fan is not on his side about it.
Same age, probably same ask. Both dudes in a situation as a primary target with a young QB. Almost identical.I actually totally forgot about his recent extension and you are right, that's a lot better comp.Sutton is a much better comp.
