WR's and ACL tears (1 Viewer)

Everyone knows the old addage "It take two years before a running back can comeback and really feel like he can trust his kneee to due the things he used to be able to". This has been evidenced many times over. The only exception that I remember from recent memory was Jamal Lewis who was somewhat effective the year after surgery.

But what about Wide Receivers. Don't they have to make the same kind of cuts going in and out of breaks and running after the catch? It seems to me that many neglect the RB sentiment and think WR's will be back to preinjury status the following year.

Much like Reche Caldwell, Santana Moss, Tyrone Calico, and Drew Carter struggling the following season after an ACL tear, I expect Javon Walker, Mark Bradley, Braylon Edwards, Derrick Hamilton, Brandon Jones all to struggle this year.

I agree. The hardest part will be for them to make cuts. That will affect their route running and probably separation. I wouldn't overpay for any of these guys this year.

I loved Braylon's development in year 1..

The thing that will hurt Edwards most is that he got hurt so late in the season, so he has to be at least 3 months behind Javon already..

The kid has great talent< i just hope he has the dedication in rehab to get all the way back

He's a guy I'm going to be looking to trade for in the second half of the season.

I would forget about the kid until 2007. He will disappoint next year.

i'm talking keeper/dynasty leagues.

The best example I can find so far is Lee Evans 2003 season after an April 2002 ACL tear, so its more than one year removed and in college.

FIND ME ONE WR THAT MADE A SIGNIFICANT FANTASY CONTRIBUTION THE YEAR AFTER AN ACL TEAR.

DO IT.
Boldin?
Boldin's closer than Evans if you're looking at college. He tore his ACL in preseason of 2001 (as a starting QB) and then came back to have a great season in 02.

Jerry Rice came back in the SAME season that he tore his ACL, only to injure I believe his knee cap.The following season, he put up 1157 and 9 TD's. His year prior to the ACL tear: 1254 and 8.
