WSL 1 Draft Discussion (1 Viewer)

I am with Fro there - based on talent and what he showed.....the only reason not to pick him in the third (and frankly I am not sure whether I would have) would be whether Romo still looks to Austin more than Bryant next year when he is back

im not saying its outrageous but I do have about 5 wrs I would take ahead of him

was just curious to hear his take

LHucks commits armed robbery on his 2/3 turn...Good Gawd almighty.
Well the DJax play was tied to my having McCoy (frankly I NEVER imagined that Jackson could make it that far back).....Bowe on the other hand.....just a question of whether I could have taken Bowe in the second and then Williams in the third? we will never know, but I like my first three picks as they worked out

Tampa Mike looked early to me

You could be right there Doug - but I really like what he did this year and his possibilities for 2011......still if I could have gone Bowe then Williams that would have been better...............but really SHUCKS needs the spot ;)

you schizophrenic now mop?
The blue was Pimpin, the green was me if that wasn't clear. I was scolded for using names of players not selected yet earlier but I promise you that BSS is laughing his tail off right now somewhere. A few other Fix folks likely got that joke, sorry if it wasn't clear.

The theme is upside right now. Would rather have Gore at top3 for 10 weeks then steady eddie at #12 for the entire season. We feel confident that DeAngelo will land somewhere like Miami and be a workhorse. It's a gamble but it's hard to gauge where certain players will be taken right now.

All criticism welcome.

RB1-Gore

RB2-DWill

Stoked

Needless to say, I'd put my first three rounds up against anybody's.1.02 - Foster 2.15 - D-Jax3.02 - Bowe
I wouldn't disagree but I will say Weiss leaving could hurt Bowe next year. Love DJax working with Vick during the off season. Foster got his head coach back...very nice 1-2-3 punch.
For me Foster and Bowe were the value picks. I have Foster in his own tier and as the easy #1 pick in this format. Bowe went at 2.02 in WSL2. D Jax went about where he should.

Can't see Vincent Jackson holding out another 10 games next season (whenever that may be). If he stays a Charger and play the whole season, then 3.10 was great value. If not... its just another pick I've wasted.

Gotta believe Romo is a better QB than Kitna. He reminded me of Randy Moss the way he got open and made circus catches. He couldn't be stopped in a less than ideal situation this year during this stretch. Witten and Austin will keep him from getting too much coverage. I also think he's suited well for a best ball league. There were other very solid WRs available, but Bryant was the only one I saw capable of elevating to the top tier. Bowe was another option, but Rivers is money at the 2/3 turn. I like keeping flexibility for later picks hence the RB/QB/WR start. The runs can happen and I can draft from a position of strength.

Secondary RB run late in the third round with four consecutive being selected and five of the last eight.

I made a note in the draft thread which I will erase when I leave in half an hour - out all afternoon at a meeting. I will send a pick to LHUCKS but sadly it looks like we won't even be close to on the clock before I return early evening....still if that happens and HUCKS doesn't post or says my guy is gone, someone call my cell - there are several in this league who have the number

Wow Darren, terrific value with Vernon Davis at 4.05. If I had known Davis would have been there at 3/4 turn, I'd have taken Aaron Rodgers at the 1/2 turn. IMO, Rodgers + Vernon Davis would have been > Roeth + Gates.

meh...Gates was a steal where you got him. The guy pretty much carried my team in Ultimate Survivor thru round 1 and that was only 1.5 ppr.

Thought about going Davis over Bowe at 3.02 but decided Bowe was safer with the QB uncertainty in SF.

players I have missed by 1 pick:

Mendenhall

Rodgers

V.Daivs

I love Kenny britts upside, lets get a real QB or with the Fisher rumor maybe the Owner is stickin w VY.

QB - Rivers

RB - CJ2K

WR - Bryant, Williams (Sea), Harvin

Taking an aggressive approach this year and jumping up for the guys I like. Probably 1 to 1.5 rounds early for both Bryant and Williams, but neither would have made it all the way around. I like both to post more scoreable games in this format than the guys taken after them even if their overall numbers aren't as good.

QB - Matt Ryan

RB - Arian Foster

WR -Desean Jackson

WR- Dwayne Bowe

TE- Tony Gonzalez

well positioned to grab value in the middle rounds as opposed to being forced to take a specific position...go me

QB - Peyton Manning

RB - LeSean McCoy

WR - Tampa Mike Williams, Santonio Holmes, Mario Manningham

Looks like a good start from here

I thought Manningham would survive for another two rounds. Surprised that 3 NYG WRs went before some of the usual suspects on the board.

Indeed...as long as you ignore the fact that you'll have to move on QB2 and TE2 early since they both share the same bye week.

:loco: Was about to post the same thing. Still, good value where you've selected all 5 imo. I considered Ryan over Roeth 19 picks ago.

Here's mine so far:

QB - Ben Roethlisberger

RB - Ahmad Bradshaw

WR - Reggie Wayne

TE - Antonio Gates

Nothing earth shattering here. So far, just going best player on the board. By shoring up above average quality at QB and TE, can move on to the best available RBs and WRs over the next few rounds.

QB ?????

RB Jamaal Charles

WR Wes Welker

WR Steve Smith NYG

WR Sydney Rice

TE Dallas Clark

an ok start to this thing, need a little luck filling in the RBs and QBs but overall not bad.

?

Strong WR, solid QB (felt forced for Manning as options were dwindling fast). Need TE and RB help but good start after 5.

A little bit more detail about 4.16/5.1My list included Rice, Harvin, Moss, Cooley, Mike Williams, and one other WR yet to be drafted. Cooley's recpts look enticing but the dropoff at WR was looming. I had Cooley higher than Gonzo or Davis. I was very tempted to go Rice/Harvin at the turn. This worked out well for me in 2010 (double dipping WRs from the same team). Ultimately the Minny QB situation scared me away from having two eggs in that basket. Harvin will get his numbers via recpt and some bonus rushing yards. Moss would have been a great value. I was shocked at how good he did last year when I went back to review his numbers. I think he'll post better numbers than Mike Williams, but Williams will have more TDs and more big scoreable weeks. With 20 rosters spots I feel like I can take more risk for upside in this format.

strikes us all at different times, but guys THIS draft is blowing chunks on movement and draft etiquette - really how Friggin hard is it to send someone a one or two player list when you are here, are almost up and then disappear? So a couple guys post and now the draft just stops. really, REALLY hard to watch.

(I am in another draft that has done almost two rounds today)

dude we just turned the corner on a saturday and had like 10-12 picks. This pace is good

You are missing my point DougIn fact from early AM to know we just completed a full round which is good....BUT with the number of people who have BEEN here checking in and hoping to draft we could be well beyond that without some really unnecessary hangups due to lack of lists/pms/calls whatever

This is about the time where I compile a list of potential next picks. Circled those most enticing and came up with 7. Went back and check how many more picks until I'm up and it's also 7. Like it much better when there are more potential picks on the list than picks until I'm up.

For pimpin/MOPHines ward = WR = Pitt
Who made the call here...Pimpin' or MinisterOfPlain?I think he was drafted right where he finished this year. I don't see much upside. Great player but the tread is thin.
Any chance Hines Ward plays it like Bettis if the Steelers win again?
Ouch...that would hurt.Personally I think he has a couple of good NFL years left in him and enjoys the game. He's not getting beat on like Bettis which should make things easier. Pitt is primed to compete for several years. Maybe he wants to numerosu rings. He's got two and next week could have three. Would 4 or 5 make him a HOF candidate?

....so near and yet so far.......you guys nailed me on the TE run in the sixth - was hoping to get one of Pettigrew, Gronk, or Moonlight and missed by one drafter since Duke already had Clark............Lewis (always glad to add another Bruin) is best on the boards and a big plus if he can come close to repeating 2010 numbers but at least they finally learned how to use him
