WSOP 2019 (1 Viewer)

I want in so badly. Just never seems to work out between work and family. Not easy to tell the wife, after traveling a whole bunch for work, that she needs to be home alone again for a week with three small kids while I go play in vegas with my internet friends

Maybe this will be my year.

There are some sweet homes on vrbo with pools for 200 to 300 per night.  Make it a vacation for them also.  Take the kids to red rock, valley of the sun, etc

all this being said going out to Vegas for a week with the mind of playing tournament poker is a lot more difficult that I ever would of thought.

i had the time of my life last year.  But at the start of it the playing time and jet lag almost killed me.  At the end of it the drinking, hotel living and General loneliness almost killed me again.

Just saying it sounds like a great time but you really have to be mentally ready for the grind.

Also - the rio is a total ####hole.

If/when I go out this year I may just tell the wife I’m going out for the tournaments but might just stay at the Aria/Wynn the whole time and play PLO cash.

I don't want to hear this crap.  Quit buying all that stuff from Chemical Chode and let's get drunk again.  I will play that $500 event totally blitzed if you will.
Also.... if I do end up going out early enough to play the $500 I’ll also play it drunk but we need to do a FBG last longer.

I have two other friends that go every year now. It's always good to hook up with them and go eat, rail them when you're not playing, etc.

The one thing I've noticed and I don't know why is I don't play as well if I fly in the same day of the tournament. The focus just is not there.

I think that $500 event would be awesome to get many FBG into and make some side bets.  @kutta?

It's possible for me - Really depends on my work schedule, but I think I'm free then. It's almost impossible to plan this far out, but I'd say I'm 50-50 at worst.

From another poker site I visit...

july 1 = The refs birthday..

Of note:

There's one new event announced here called "Mini Main Event" on July 1st. It's a $1k buyin, you start with 60k chips (just like the Main) and play every level of the Main. Only difference? Levels are 30 minutes instead of 120. That's a pretty damn big difference. I'll be skipping that one.

The Casino Employees event takes place on May 29, which will be the first event of the entire WSOP.

The Colussus WILL take place. Some thought that the Big 50 would replace it, but the Colussus was simply moved to June 26, and was changed to a $400 buyin (down from $565), with 40k chips and 40 minute levels. I'll also be skipping that.

"The Marathon", an event probably closest to the Main regarding structure, has 100 minute levels this year. However, the buyin is $2620, which probably prices out most recreational players. So that may not be a very good event to play.

The chips-per-buyin-dollar ratio is still all over the place.

It appears most $1k events will be 20k chips (meaning each chip is 5 cents).

It appears most $1500 events will be 25k chips (meaning each chip is 6 cents).

The Marathon gives you 26,200 chips for $2620, making each chip 10 cents

The Little One for One Drop (which I also am skipping) gives 40k chips for $1,111, making each chip 2.5 cents, if you ignore the $111 for charity.

There are still no $10k events announced besides the Main.

I wonder if they bought a lot of different chip sets. I hope they did, or I'm afraid there might be some chip theft and smuggling into other tournaments going on.

Does this really happen?  I would think there would have to be some fairly tight controls and checks on this especially if the same style chips are used for more than one event.

Not sure how this is possible.  It would be pretty noticeable if someone pulled some chips out or took some off.

serious question:  how do they handle smokers who has to have one every hour or so?

asking for a friend.

No limit hold em?
The Big 50 is a must play event for poker players. To celebrate our 50th, the WSOP is making everyone’s initial entry into this event rake-free.

All $500 of the entry will go entirely to the prizepool. (Anyone who re-enters pays the normal rake, including re-entries into another flight).

The Big 50 features four starting flights (ThursdaySunday am) where players begin play with a whopping 50,000 in chips and play 12, 50-minute levels on Day 1.

The WSOP has a $5 million prize pool guarantee, as well as ensuring the winner claims $1 million for the Big 50.

Wow, cool. I may be able to do this.

It would be really cool if we could get 5 FBG to play in this.  We could all own 1/8 of the other four guys in the group.  You would own 50% of yourself.   Somebody wins and the others all get $125,000. Winner would get $500,000.

I'd be in for that if I'm able to play.

It's probably a good thing you don't ever come when I do.  I have this bad feeling we might actually like each other IRL.   We can't have that.

Full schedule is out.  I booked May 29-June 7.
May 30 Om8
June 2 Big 50
June 5 HORSE

Very likely to comeback for
June 23 Razz
June 25 PLO 8 or better

Starting stacks in $1500 events have increased from 7,500 last year to 25,000.   Wasn't too long ago all starting stacks were 3x buy in.  All No Limit tournamnets will have Big Blind antes this year.

It would be awesome if we could get several FBG's to play in this.  There are four starting days. So I imagine it plays June 3-5 for the later rounds.

If we could get 5 guys, it would be cool if we all owned 1/8th of each other.
We could also have a Last Longest pool for $100/each.

Boys weekend is a few weeks earlier in may for the Preakness.  Always hard to get out there for the series because of it. Will look at the schedule tho.
