Maven,I know you are still editing but anyway to add Calvin Johnson's targets? I'm interested to see what he totaled...

Sehorn.

Targets are imo the best way to find breakout players and seperate the flukes (Chambers to start off last year) and the true stars - you can't score if you don't get the ball!

V.Davis - 7T, 5Rec, 40yds

I.Bruce - 8T, 4rec, 74yds

J.Urban - 7T, 5rec, 74yds

This has to be the most bizarre - and (do quote a pool cliche) it's not close.

I would add Forte 1 Target is very unexpected.
Thanks!, don't know how I overlooked that one...
Not sure how unexpected this is. It's not Forte, and it's not the system. Cutler just doesn't really check down that far. Didn't really utilize his backs as dumpoff options in DEN, don't see why he'll start now. He's either too confident, too arrogant, or too pigheaded to let his reads drop that far. It's clear he'd rather force it downfield on a questionable read than take the easy 5 yarder. As I understood it, this was one of the big reasons a lot of sources were down on Forte heading into this season.

How did this happen:

S.Smith - 13T, 3rec, 21yds
That would be the good Steve Smith. Or at least should be much better than the other Steve Smith and way better than these numbers...
I watched that entire painful game. Steve Smith may as well had me throw him the ball 13 times. From my couch. With a Sam Adams Octoberfest in my throwing hand.I only hope that the targets remain but the throws become even remotely accurate or I am in for a long season.

This is great Maven. I am in need of a free agent receiver and Henderson is looking less like fools gold and more worthy of a pick up, along with Burleson. 8 targets a week and he will start over Braylon and Eddie Royal :lmao:

I swear Cutler had some lasers locked on his buddy Bennett all night. GB would send 4 defenders over and he's still try to thread it.

M.Forte - 1T, 0rec
My buddy said Earl and Jay went to school together, so he might be a good pickup.

C.Johnson - 13T, 3rec, 90ydsHow bad are Delhomme and Matthew Stafford?

Chicago has a QB who threw 4 interceptions last night. His most frequent target (Earl Bennett) caught 7 passes in 13 targets.

Johnson and Smith caught 6. TOTAL.

It will certainly be interesting to follow and see if this keeps up. Seems to me Brees will target the open receiver and each game a differnent guy will be "the man".Anyone know where you can look up target info from last year? My recollection of Saint's WR were that there were not many consistant week to week performers.

A lot of Calvin Johnson's targets were either poorly thrown into coverage (at least 2 of Stafford's 3 INTs), or they were endzone targets that weren't placed correctly and/or into double coverage. There's no doubt in my mind at some point this season, Stafford and CJ will click and CJ's going to put up some huge numbers.

Why is that unexpected? People were saying a while back that his targets would drop significantly. Cutler simply does not dump off the ball to his RBs. Heck, Cutler would rather throw an INT than dump the ball off.
I understand, and agree. But leading all RB's with 77 and a with a game within reach, 1 target is just a bit unexpected IMO

surprising

Laurant Robinson 10 targets and Keenan Burton 6 targets.

Now if only they could get some separation they may be worth picking up.

:eek:2's 8 targets with the Bengals was a pleasant surprise, mainly becuase he caught 6 of 'em and looked pretty good doing it. I think we've found our future Hou$h.

edit to add the identity of :eek:2 for those slow on the uptake: Here

Gamebooks aren't loading for me for some reason. Anyone have Eddie Royal's week 1 targets?

I had quite the nasty Sunday. Steve Smith, Housh, and Eddie Royal -- looking like a great trio in my PPR -- and they put up about 16 pts all together for me, and hung me out to dry.

Eddie Royal - 4T, 2rec, 18yds ...

In Jake's defense I believe he actually completed a couple more of those throws to Steve Smith. Pretty sure Sheldon Brown got acouple of them.

what about Louis Murphy from Oakland. 9 targets for a rookie? does anyone think this will continue? I can't really get excited about any Oak Wr, plus isn't Chaz coming back next week. anyone have thoughts on that situation

They really have NO veteran WR's at all. Heward-Bey & Murphy are rookies, and Higgins & Schillens are young. I think Murphy keeps getting some looks until Schillens comes back. I am paying attention to this, since it's so fluid, and if they get a NFL QB they could explode.Bias alert:I dropped Higgins in dynasty, since he got nothing but a rush attempt - he's their WR4 in reality. Schillens is still on my roster.

Legedu Naanee with six targets and five catches.
Who ends up with more value as Chambers withers away Naanee or Floyd?I think Naanee looked good and it's obvious that Rivers trusts him to be throwing to him down the stretch like that.Thoughts?
