WW defense for week 13? (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I'm thinking the bears are the defense for this week as they get the Rams at home. The Bucs are interesting as they get to face Matt Moore and are improving, but Moore may be an upgrade over Delhomme anyways.

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS

Bears - Home teams are always better fantasy plays at defense/special teams, and the Bears host turnover prone Kyle Boller and the Rams this week.

Recommendation: Worth picking up as a matchup play

Bills - Another home team, the Bills' aggressive pass defense has a friendly mathcup Thursday night against a reeling Mark Sanchez. The rookie has seven interceptions in his last three games, and he's now dealing with a knee injury.

Recommendation: Worth picking up as a matchup play

Buccaneers - The Bucs' front-seven pushed around the Atlanta offensive line for six sacks last week. They travel to Carolina this week, where Matt Moore awaits in what will likely be his first start of the season.

Recommendation: Worth picking up as a matchup play

i just picked up the Bills D/ST based on the above

Not saying I disagree, just wanted to point out the Bills are sort of a home team, as this week they play in Toronto.

The Bears aren't on my WW, but that's certainly an option for you.

I own the Giants and I see San Francisco is on my WW. I'm picking them up and may start them against Seattle.

That's true, but while the field itself might be a little foreign to the Bills, it will be a very receptive crowd backing them.

Cinci vs Det?
PLEASE tell me Cincy D isn't on your waiver wire. Hate to post that, but seriously. They've had an insane DST schedule weeks 11-13.
I thought the same thing when I picked up Cinci 3 weeks ago and then they went ahead and scored only 7 and 6 pointsthe last 2 weeks (respectively) in my league's scoring system. (ex. sack=int=fum rec=2pts, etc...)Either way, you might think that Cinci shouldn't be on the WW but they've stunk up the joint the last2 weeks of their "insane DST schedule".That being said, I'm still riding them this weekend.

:excited: I dumped Denver for Cinn a few weeks ago, for the most part they've been a completely underwhelming defense, fantasy wise.

I wouldn't be so sure... as much as they promote it, the Bills aren't THAT big in Toronto, plus they team they are playing is from the same state and may have fans travel, too. If I had to guess, a lot of fans there to see the game will be neutral, just there to see NFL football, and not necessarily there to back the Bills. Now if the Bills were to ever MOVE there, it would be a different story. That being said, the Bills still could be a decent play this week. I have to go with them in one league due to lack of better options.

Agreed- I had Seattle on my bench and thought that the Cincy D would get a better number- 1 sack? Ho hum and now they get the lowly Lions

Similar situation in that I took Cinci weeks ago for this stretch. I have to think they scores big against one of these lowly teams, so I'm sticking with them one more week.

I like the Bills this week AND next week (@ KC). With all those INTs, I'm surprised they only have 2 TDs. I bet that changes.

Disagree. I was born and spent most of my life in Toronto. The Bills are the closest NFL franchise, and the team that Torontonians watch the most, as Toronto receives the Buffalo affiliate feed every Sunday.Won't dispute that many fans are there to just see a better calibre of football than is on display in the CFL, but Toronto is just 100 miles around the lake, as opposed to 500 miles from NYC. From my experience seeing a lot of Sabre fans at the Leafs game when they rolled into town, and travelling to Buffalo every year to see the Bills at Orchard Park myself, it is way more probable that the majority of fans who travel from NY State are going to be rooting for the Bills. Finally, Torontonians will have more affinity for the Bills as it's the Buffalo franchise that's been the one that has had the most press in terms of potentially relocating from Buffalo to Toronto.Proof will be in the pudding, but everything from my experience makes me agree with the poster that said that this will be as close to a home game the Bills could hope for, for not playing in their own stadium.

If both SF and the Bears are available I would take SF. The Bears looked like they quit last week. Their D gave up nearly 300 yards in the first half alone. The Rams are terrible but I don't know if they've quit; they're just very talent challenged. But you are taking a big chance if you take Chicago.

What about the Panthers against TB at home?

If you look at the Bills weakness, it's their rush defense. I'm not sure it's a slam dunk against TJones that the Bills will stop the Jets O. Sure, you will get a few INTs from Sanchez ... But I think the Bills will have a hard time stopping the run.

Right now I'm starting CAR vs TB over the Indy and TN Ds.Josh Freeman likes to fumble the ball. He's a rookie so could be prone to mistakes. The game is in CAR, Moore may be an upgrade at QB anyway, and I'd expect CAR to run the ball well and keep the TB offense off the field. Should be a decent play.KY

Bears are terrible. I dont think I could start them even vs the Rams. How come no love for Denver vs KC?
I don't see them available.I need a D for next week. Buffalo (@ KC). I also think the Wash @ Oak game could be nice; on both sides, although moreso the Skins. Haynesworth supposed to be back this week.Indy at home against Denver is another...

I would suggest that if you are going to call someone out like this, you should cite the source if you are sure it came from another site. Otherwise, it looks like you are just speculating based on the neat and tidy presentation.

For those of you on Buffalo this week:

1. Bills run D is ranked last in the NFL

2. Jets have a very good rushing offense

Are you not worried that the Jets will try to run, run, run, and run some more.........therefore limiting the opportunities at sacks and INT's for the Buffalo D?

Bills couldn't stop the run last time they payed the Jets (318 yards rushing) and did just fine. All they need to do is stop Sanchez (5 INTs last game VS Bills), which they should be able to handle with that great secondary.

But, word out of NY is that Ryan is now making a concerted effort to protect Sanchez by limiting his opportunities at mistakes. I'm not trying to argue here........I'm actually hoping somebody can convince me to start the Bills this week (I don't really like my other option.....Ravens at GB as the Packers seemed to have fixed that leaky o-line play).

What are the chances that Sanchez throws 5 INTs again? I'm not sure that the Bills are your best option if your league DEF scoring deals with yards and points. Buffalo has given up a ton of yards.

so the initial D/ST rankings are out and they have SD as the 28th best defense this week (playing at CLE) and DEN as 25th best (playing at KC)

i am scratching my head on both of those rankings

Chicago has the best match-up, HOWEVER; Arizona faces SF, DET & STL over the next three weeks and SD plays Cleveland this week. Is dropping ARI worth it considering who they face after MINN this week? Especially when u have ur other D facing Cleveland. After this week, u may be better off cutting ties with SD and going waiver wire fishing with ARI as your base D. (HOU)

If anyone gets cut here it should be SD and not ARZ since SD is kind of worthless after this week since they face some decent teams in weeks 14-16. So you should decide who you like better b/w SD and the other D's out there. I know they are "travelling east" but the SD defense has played very well against bad teams this year and didn't play too bad in their last trip east in a win over NYG. ARZ should be locked on your roster for their juicy playoff matchups in weeks 14-16.

Flipping the tables. What about the Bucs on the road against the Panthers? M. Moore starting, and the Bucs have improved defensively since canning Jim Bates. Raheem is calling a hybrid cover two and switching things up. Seeing more corner blitzes. I think the Bucs DST could be a real sleeper, given few good options.

I agree, but that is certainly scraping the bottom of the barrel. I would have to have zero other options to consider it.

i'm rolling the dice on carolina vs. TB for the reasons stated above: at home, weak TB offense, rookie QB, hopefully a run dominated performance by carolina. my other option is mia at NE and i don't like that play given how angry NE will be.
