The only reason to buy one or the other is the game exclusives really. When you really look at the specs it is too close to call and each has it's area where it is incrementally better than the other. So buy the one that will play the games you want that you can't get on the other.

Actually, that's not the only reason to buy one or the other. If you like to play games online and all or most of your friends have one console, you'll almost always be better off buying that console even if you miss out on a few exclusives.
I'm confused by the specs. Some places say that PS4 has a leg up on X-box as far as graphics, RAM and cost. Other places Ive seen said X-box can only broadcast in 720 or 900p (or was it 910?) and that Playstation was better with that as well. Than places say that the Playstation is a "gamers" console and x-box isnt
Honestly, I dont have a clue what half the stuff I typed above even means....
The PS4 on paper has slightly better specs mainly GPU & memory. Xbox has a slightly faster CPU. Both can do full 1080p, it's up to developers to set the native resolution in games. I know the Xbox will upscale everying to 1080p regardless of native resolution. I assume the same is on the PS4 (upscaling).
Side note: Higher resolution does not mean better graphics. Don't get too caught up in resolution. 1080p works well with some games, depending on the situation. In others, not so well as they need to sacrifice fps or image quality so many games will go 720p or 900p but be very, very nice looking - in fact better looking than they would if they tried to go to 1080p.
Both are gamer's consoles. Xbox Live historically has been years ahead of PS+ but I can see that narrowing or evening up this go-around. They both have added capabilities in twitch, game recording and some other stuff. The Xbox also has Skype and comes with the Kinect. The Xbox is also $100 more. Hope that helps.
