xbox one vs ps4 (2 Viewers)

Unless you work for or own stock in one of these companies, why does anyone give a flying crap what someone else gets? I bought an xbox one for 2 reasons: 1. Controller 2. Xbox live.

Dead rising 3 is a blast with a friend.

The only real thing I worry about is that everything runs through my xbox now and I have concerns about overheating.
If you had a PS4 you wouldn't have to worry about that at all. ;)

I gotta say Im shocked that the PS4 is selling so much. I don't know 1 person who owns a PS3. I wouldn't say Im a Microsoft guy, but I would say I'm not a fan of Sony. The online service has always been horrible, the controller is made for pigmys and the exclusives aren't that significant.

I just don't get it.
I own a PS3, and you know me.

That said, my PS3 is a giant expensive paperweight and I haven't turned it on in probably close to 2 years.
Ha same here. I have a launch PS3 and it was my only console (Wii doesn't count :) ) for years. I grabbed a 360 2 Christmas' ago and haven't looked back. I see the same thing in the PS4 this time around in their AAA exclusives will be more of the same (Uncharted) which just doesn't do it for me. And I own all three. I didn't even finish Uncharted 3 it was so boring.
I have a launch PS3 as well, the 60 GB backward-compatible "fatty" model. It's been pretty buggy though with freezes and it doesn't recognize 3 of my 4 controllers anymore. I was a Playstation guy through and through...had a PS1 and 2 PS2s, never owned an Xbox.

I bought a 360 specifically for Gears 2 and ended up becoming friends with the Gears crowd from this site.....and I haven't looked back. Honestly, whichever console they end up collectively picking will end up being the console I go with. I hear great things about PS4 and a lot of crap about XB1....but whichever my friends choose, that's where I'll be.
C'mon, Steve. How long you going to let your friends dictate everything you do? Get some cojones and stand up for yourself. How about you make the decision for once?

Friends don't let friends play XBox. :)

It always amazes me how much the playstation crew will die for their console and how much the xbox guys will fall for the fishing.
The same exact thing can be said by switching 'playstation' and 'xbox' in the above statement. Bull#### nonesense is definitely not one-sided in here.

Just get whatever system your friends have, plain and simple. Even if you don't play online, at least that way you can still trade games amongst yourselves.

why does anyone give a flying crap what someone else gets?
It is important to people like Moobin and Madshot, they are making a not making a purchasing decision. They are going to wait to see what the majority of their friends decide and then ape their decision.

It is important to people who are going to buy a console solely on what the the majority of their friends and others buy, that they know most people are buying a PS4 so therefore they can shop accordingly.

A PS4 makes that VERY easy.

A true gamer and/or FBG would buy both.

I dont understand the guys ruining this thread with their fanboy talk. Aren't we all in our 30s and 40s now?

Serious question, if M$ had stuck with the DRM money grab would you have chosen friends or the value? If you were forced to?

I am scared to put a xbone next to my PS4 I am afraid my PS4 would burn up when it entered the xbone gravity well, or someone would try to jam it into the VHS slot.

Does it matter since that's not a reality anymore?

It is almost like they are getting a per positive post payout. I thought footballguys had a "no poor people policy"?

They also have a no whiny, t*t-baby policy - yet here you are. :)

Seriously, there's nothing wrong with supporting the console you like.

Well yeah, I am serious. No fanboy shtick. I get that people will like certain features of one console over the other. I have a hard time understanding the rational behind making a poor economic decision based on online friends. Are you guys talking about real life friends? I guess I am fortunate is about half my online friends were on each system last gen so I was free to choose which system I felt was a better buy. There is never a shortage of online gamin' buddies you have your real life friends and hundreds on gamer friends.

If you and your friends all want the same system, shouldn't you just be the first one to buy the one you want an then all your friends will just buy the one you wanted?

I checked and that isn't it the forum rules. Enjoy your PS4, I wish you well on your quest to spread the good sony word.

Real life friends.

As for the bolded, seeing as we actually like each other and dont wanna #### anyone over for our own selfish gain, we talk amongst ourselves about what system to get before anyone makes a purchase.

Ok fair enough, and I want to be clear, I am not bagging on you right now. But I am shocked that you and your friends get together to discuss what you are going to buy.

I mean that is really weird. I can't imagine a scenario where I wanted a PS4 and me and all my buddies are at the sports bar and they all decide "hey we as a group are going to go Wii U this time around" and I would go buy a WiiU. It would never happen.

Has there ever been a time where someone has gone against he collective?

Have you ever made a major purchase of something you didn't want because your friends told you too?

Do you all drive the same car?

I was always just an EA sports gamer with my friends, I'm an ex-competitive Madden player. But as I got older and finished college, I got into shooters and PS3 didn't have a headset. I never really had any intent to become a multiplayer gamer, but the Xbox came with a headset and I gave it a try and loved it.

I have literally no friends who play PS3 regularly. I have some friends to play PS3 casually, but nowhere near as often as I game. I have several friends, some of whom I'd consider close friends, who play Xbox. If a game is on both systems, why would I get the PS3 version?

The exclusives don't really wow me, to be honest. I'll find enough games to play on either console. If I have a choice between a game on the console my friends are using vs the other console where I'm alone, why wouldn't I want to play on the console my friends have?

That's cool. I'm all for getting whatever you want. I'm actually a PC Gamer. I only got the PS4 for my son but really haven't played either console very much except for a little Madden - which I don't even know why I bother since I get my butt kicked every time.

I think it goes without saying that a bunch of adult males aren't going to decide to all buy WiiU's. Obviously the only 2 options are PS4 and Xbone. Again, we're talking about adults here, so if someone doesn't want something the group is getting then obviously they don't have to get it, whether that's a particular game or the entire system altogether.

No it's cool I get it. Having a good online crew is awesome especially on FPS. I guess I never thought that the people you play with you had to be offline friends with. I am a member of a very large PS3/PS4 clan that includes real life friends and there is never a shortage of people to play with.

So it makes sense for you to get a PS4 if your clan is playing PS4. My "clan", if you can call it that, plays Xbox. Some of them are online friends from this site and elsewhere, and some have become "real life" friends via Xbox. That said, it doesn't seem like any of them have next-gen systems yet, and none of them seem to be Xbox fanboys. If they make the move to PS4, I'll get a PS4.

I was just screwing around but I do take that one back. That was a cheap shot at those guys. I apologize.

I just have a problem when xguys say I am getting the xbone because other people are but when MOST people are getting a PS4 they who cares what other people are getting.

Also I am BLOWN AWAY that people will make a purchase this large and perhaps buy something they will use for years that is their second choice because their friends did. I have never had a friend make a $500 decision for me, ever. This is like buying a car you don't like because you would hate to not hang out with your buddies in the club that tricks out Honda Civics.
The reason that some people, like me, will choose whatever system their friends have is because they have literally no preference. I genuinely see no difference between the XB1 and PS4. I know there are slight technical differences and interface differences, but I see virtually no difference for my uses. I will find games I enjoy on either console.

If you literally had no preference, none whatsoever, between two consoles, but all of your gaming buddies (real life friends and online friends together) were playing one console, and you're a frequent multiplayer gamer....wouldn't you get that console?

You can be the first! Do it! You can save them all! Less cost more power If you step up and make the call when the next guy in your clan goes to decide "Most of his friends with have PS4's" because you did it! They will all be like Tasker got one and he is a smart guy so I will get one too!

Yeah I used to be a PC guy myself, but after working on a PC all day I just couldn't come home and game on it as well. Also no matter the Tech advantages of a PC I just can't have a PC tower in my living room.

Still to this day the inability to have a satisfying real time strategy game on console is disheartening.

Has nothing to do with stigma and everything to do with the lack of sports/FPS titles to play online. Plus I'm guessing most adult males don't care for motion sensor gaming.

Loan Sharks, I think you're extremely mistaken that most people don't care about exclusives. In fact I think it's the complete opposite, and tons of people will buy an Xbox just for Halo.
Maybe you are right, but then how do you explain that PS3 outsold 360? It is not like we have not been hearing that "xbox has better exclusives" since last gen and it wasn't a game changer. Xbone has the same exclusives now but is being outsold at a faster rate than last gen.

If the exclusives are a console seller then why isn't it selling as well? Is the hardware sooooo much worse that it can't keep up with the software advantage?
Several points here.

Firstly, most of MS's big exclusives are shooters, so it makes sense that the 360 generally won regions where shooters are the predominate gametype (the US) while the PS3 blew the 360 out of the water in regions where people don't care at all about shooters (Japan).

Secondly, Sony closed the gap and even surpassed MS on the exclusive front in some people's eyes as the generation went on. Early on the 360 had a massive advantage in exclusives and massively outsold the PS3. As the generation neared an end, the PS3 came out with some great exclusives. However, Sony hasn't shown anything with many of those franchises for next gen whereas MS already has two huge exclusives on the docket, one right around the corner (Titanfall) and one at the end of the year (Halo).

but how much do you have to like a specific handful of games over another handful to sacrifice the quality of your 90% of cross platforms?
When you spend more than half your gaming time with some of those games, it makes a big difference. I have both a 360 and PS3 and I spent more time playing the Gears of War series than I did my entire PS3 library. Same thing with the Left for Dead series. Time spent with Halo was probably about equal to time spent on my entire PS3 library.

That story will likely be similar with Titanfall if it's as good as we've all heard it is. That makes a huge difference.

You seem to be the kind of old-school gamer that plays a single player for 10 hours, then moves on to another game for 10 hours, then another, etc. The generation where all gamers are like that is gone, and there is a large population of gamers that now stick with a few games for a long time. When about half of the franchises that bring around that big of a long-term following are Xbox exclusives (with the rest being multi-plat and really none being Sony exclusives) it makes a big deal to that subset of gamers, which is not a small one.

That's not to say that exclusives are the end-all be-all, but they play a huge role.

The majority of the time I spend gaming is done with friends. As others have said, they're a mix of real life friends and online friends, some of whom have become real life friends. Either way, they're friends now. I don't make a habit of just replacing my friends.

Again, you're looking at this only from the perspective of the way you play games. I just checked raptr. Since I signed up I've logged 994 hours on there. 810 hours of that was spent playing Xbox exclusive games online with friends. I love some of the PS3 exclusives I've gotten to play, but by far the most important things to me in gaming are playing with my friends and playing those games that I love and can play for years. Giving up either of those would significantly dampen the fun I have playing videogames. Far more than anything else involved. A $100 price difference has never factored so little into one of my decisions, the same way that having to pay for XBL was never a factor for me. Sure, I could have sold my 360 and just used my PS3 and saved $300 over the course of the generation, but I would have had $30,000 less worth of fun for the way I play games.

I will find games I enjoy on either console. If you literally had no preference, none whatsoever, between two consoles, but all of your gaming buddies (real life friends and online friends together) were playing one console, and you're a frequent multiplayer gamer....wouldn't you get that console?
Please stop feeding this guy.

Yeah I used to be a PC guy myself, but after working on a PC all day I just couldn't come home and game on it as well. Also no matter the Tech advantages of a PC I just can't have a PC tower in my living room.mom's basement.

Still to this day the inability to have a satisfying real time strategy game on console is disheartening.

I have been eating at Mcdonalds with the hope of winning a xbone.

Former Xbox fanboy, switched to PS4 now, just messing around with it for a little, love it. The controller is really comfortable and sleek, though its a little weird adjusting to the Xbox controllers, I think its an upgrade.

Xbox One and 360 outsold PS4 on Black Friday

Even if this is true, it doesn't change the fact that I have Xbox Ones sitting on a shelf and can't get the PS4 in stock. Guess which one people keep asking for?
It's not true. It's a bunch of horse#### from some start-up site that's seeking attention.
I know. Sales have been pretty even between the two. It's still too early to call one a winner over the other. It's just a silly race. Right now, both consoles have one game that I'm interested in playing and I play it on a PC. That's all that matters to me. Until one gives me a reason that I must absolutely buy it over the other, that's my stance.

I'd love to go with an Xbox again, but I'm not confident on the exclusive lineup at this point. I'd love to give the Playstation a shot this time, but I'm not completely convinced that it's the way I should go, yet. And I don't expect a single person here to feel the same way I do. If you do, great. If not, then I hope you enjoy what you buy.

I know that I try to give out objective information when I can and hope that I can better inform those who need specific info to make their decision. If I ever come off as a fan-boy, it's completely unintentional. Until we live in the utopia that will allow every game to be playable on each and every platform, I feel that there will always be a reason to own the other console choice. Unless that other choice happens to be a CD-i. :cringe:

I'm concerned with having to relearn the PS4 controller after playing with the XBox 360 controller. You'd think I wouldn't mind, considering that every console tends to have a different controller. I was a fan of the "Duke" controller on the original XBox and played using it since its launch. So I had to adjust to the 360 design. Change shouldn't be an issue for me. But it's still in the back of my mind.

I really don't get this fanboyism/haterism at all. These systems only cost like $300...just buy them both and save yourself a lot of anger and mental anguish. I have always bought both Xbox and PS and will continue to do so. The only reason I got Xbone first is because I have more frends on Xbox. I would have picked up a PS4 by now as well, but they are hard to find and I don't want to pay extra for a bunch of crap I don't need.

Anyways, I don't think these posts by guys like loan sharks are really helping anyone, and I'm not sure why you keep feeding this troll. My thoughts right now are that the Xbone is a bit flawed out the gate and if you aren't in a rush to upgrade, stick with the 360 until they iron out the software issues. The online community is still small at the moment, which doesn't help. Graphics upgrades are nice but there is no wow factor for me, as I mostly play online multiplayer.

"Only cost like $300"? Your post sounds a bit ignorant of the fact that not everyone can just go out and buy both. And you're way off in price as well - The PS4 is $400 and the Xbox is $500. Those are the BASE prices - no games and only one controller with each.

I'm not getting the same vibe from Loan Sharks as you are. Also, your post seems a bit contradictory here. In one sentence you say you "dont' get this fanboy/haterism" and in the next you say you have an XBox and then imply that the PS4 is a "bunch of crap you don't need" (which, it seems, is also contradictory to your "just go out and buy both" statement).

I'll probably get both eventually, but I don't really have a reason to get one right now.

The best buy stores must have been hoarding them. I got my ticket this morning and he had a stack of probably 80 of them.
