Yahoo Autopick Draft (1 Viewer)

I recall in the past there was an article regarding how to best rank players for autopick drafts. I dont see one this year. Any idea if there will be one? Anyone have any tips/tricks for doing the autopick rankings.

If you play around with Google, you should find something. There is a way to do this and absolutely dominate your draft... I haven't done it in a few years, but I believe you leave defenses and kickers completely off your rankings.

The way it works - or at least the way it used to work - is that the auto draft fills out every team's starting lineups before it takes backups for anyone. Say you've got 8 starting lineup slots, including defenses and kickers. While other teams are getting kickers and defenses with their 7th and 8th round picks, you're getting the top backup players available.

Something like that. At least that's how it used to work. I could be completely wrong about 2009.

thanks. yea i knew there was some trick. it looks like excluding kickers and defenses does the trick. i will probably exclude most of the TE's as well.

Yeah, forgot about that. Only rank the TEs who you'd want to use one of your (using my example above) 7th or 8th round picks on.

The exclude button is your best friend with an autodraft. Spend some time whittling down your list of players to the guys you want, and ignore anyone you don't like, are worried about or just don't want to fool with. Everyone on your list should be someone you want to draft. You should be left with a group of core guys that you can then rank based on value. Push RBs and WRs to the top, and drop whatever K and defenses you have to the bottom of the list. Even if the computer runs out of people listed on your custom list (not likely), it will then default to the generic rankings lists.
