Yahoo Draft Question (1 Viewer)

I run a league that has been going on for 20 some odd years now. We are drafting this Sunday but a couple of guys are not going to make it to the draft. I am considering setting the draft to a live draft but am concerned if it is going to set up a timer for picks. Does anyone know if you can choose the live draft option but no timer for picks? Thanks.

I recall in previous years being able to adjust the timer but I didn't see the option this year. I think it is locked down at 90 seconds per.

You'd have to set the draft for the future, and run it on site as if you were setting up keepers, team by team.

I dislike this about Yahoo as well. There is no way to pause the draft or delay it any amount of time. 2 minutes is the max amount of time per pick and it starts at the time that's listed.

Starting it at the time it's listed must be a violation of our basic constitutional rights.

This year you may pause the draft up to 5 times. Each pause can be either 30 seconds or 3 minutes.

Wow, really!? That's great. Can you "pause" it 5 times in a row before the draft starts, essentially delaying the draft 15 mins?

Not exactly.

The draft has to have officially started but I guess you could pause it seconds into the first pick.

Not bad. Thanks for posting that.

I wish Yahoo would allow the commish to control teams' picks during online drafts. This way you could set it up as a live online draft, have the people who can't make it in person follow along and make their picks, while the commish enters all the in-person picks.

I played around with this at the beginning of baseball season because the guy with the first pick was running late to the draft. You have to wait for the draft to start, but once it does, you can use as many pauses in a row as you need up to the max limit. The autodraft usually takes about 10 seconds to make its pick, so you should be good as long as you can pause it within that window. Also very handy if someone's internet connection drops out during the draft.

I think that if you can manage one team per browser. For example, one team with IE, one team with Firefox, one team with Chrome, etc. That way you don't lost time logging out of your team and into the other - you can be logged in for one owner in each browser.

I did that once in the past. Though, with a 90 second timer (even at the current maximum of 120 seconds), it was very difficult to be commish (seems there are always questions during the draft), pick for the other owner and try to keep ahead of my own team. Ended up drafting badly for my team due to the timer running down on me because I was unable to keep up with the draft/preload my queue while I was drafting for the other owner. I told myself never again - though with 5 pauses allowed (why not one per round?), it would be more doable perhaps.
