Yahoo Free Agent Pickup Rules - Question (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

Thought maybe I'd turn here to see if anyone can tell me how this works. Basically I need to pick up a TE before the end of the week and FAs are now available. That said, I do not currently have a roster spot for the TE due mainly because I picked up both Hillman and CJ Anderson off waivers.

Here is what I'm currently thinking... target a TE playing in a late game (our FA period ends at the start of their games) and drop whoever wasn't getting the carries in Denver. That said, Denver will have already played.

Can I drop a bench player even if his team has already played that week to free up a bench spot to pick up my tight end?

I just can't seem to find the damn Yahoo rules on dropping players.

After much searching, I found my answer:

• Benched players, even if their game time has begun, may be dropped for an available free agent.

No. Once they have played the roster move would take be for the next week.

Yes, Yahoo lets you drop a player from the bench even though he has already played.

Don't listen to the guy who says you can't. I've done it multiple times this season on Yahoo after seeing somebody else in my league doing it. I also checked with SP and everybody said yup, that's the way it is and the way it has been.

Your plan is a good one, I've done similar things.

Here is an example from my league.

Note that Sept 29 was a Monday, and that the dropped player, Torrey Smith, had played on Sunday. I have also dropped players during the middle of their game. ONLY FROM THE BENCH, starters are frozen until waivers run Wed morning, and nobody who was not owned can be added until waivers run Wed morning of course.
