Yellowstone - Paramount TV (1 Viewer)

I’m rooting for Jamie at this point. John and Beth pretty much suck.

If we take Jamie at his word, he's trying to save the ranch for Tate and "my [Jamie's] son". I admire John for that same goal - at least partially - but he is terrible at achieving it. Happy to watch the journey to that shared goal play out.

Jamie is the biggest idiot on the show, manipulated by everyone all the time. He's a lapdog with no spine. At least John and Beth don't get molded into whatever someone else needs at the time.

I just realized that the actress who plays Sarah also played the sister of James Dutton in 1883.
I think she was Faith Hills sister, but yeah
I had to go double check to make sure, but her character was a Dutton:

“Claire and her daughter, Mary Abel, joined her brother, James, and the rest of his family in Fort Worth, Texas, after her husband, Henry, passed away.”
Huh, I would’ve lost money on that bet

I'm with you. They made Jamie to sympathetic in season 1. Ever since, they have been trying to make him worse and worse, but as long as Beth is his foil, me and my wife will always be rooting for him.

Beth is just nasty. Biggest bully in TV history. So over the top. We refer to her as the ding-bat.

The show is weird in that 33% of the audience roots against the shows main characters.

I go back to the fade out talk between Dutton and wack job. i doubt they were talking about killing Jamie. Maybe something cooking between Dutton and Jamie.

Just finished season 3. Entertaining show but you really have to suspend reality.

Is it bad that I was rooting for the serial killer to catch Monica when he was chasing her up the hillside. I'm not sure if it's bad writing or a really bad actor, but I fastforward almost every scene that she's in.
Her character changes BIG time over season 4 and this season she is one of the best characters. Her and Casey's storyline is the best of this season so far
This is more of an indication of how bad this show has become. In it's prime, their storyline would be an afterthought.

Yep. I found the most interesting storyline to be Jimmy's when he got shipped to Texas. One of the few characters I enjoy.

I think we are going to see a backdoor pilot to the 6666 show that they have teased. Its no coincidence that the Yellowstone is leasing land from the 6666's. I'm sure we are going to be seeing alot of Jimmy in the second half of the season. All the better. His redemption arc has been one of the highlights of the series.

And 90% of the posts during Jimmy's parts that season were negative. I don't think some of those watching this show know what they want :oldunsure:

Depends where you get your posts from. The Reddit Community seems to like Jimmy and thinks Beth is an over-the-top ding bat.

Jimmys character is one of the few characters that had an actual story arc and is genuinely likeable. Beth is extremely one dimensional and hasn’t changed since the show started. It’s been 5 seasons of the same thing with her and it’s gotten pretty boring.

He is the most dynamic character. Really good actor that can turn a bumbling fool into a quiet, thoughtful man. He is very endearing. And he pauses to listen to people and takes in all the advise he is given.

I disagree. The character is shaped by what happened to her mother and she feels like she is to blame. Therefore, she's lashing out at the world including toward Rip in the beginning. I like that she's softened her approach to Rip and has said he's included in the minimal things she needs to be happy. She's apologized for the the way she treated him in the past, but she keeps her hard edge toward "everyone who needs/deserves" it. She's been good/protective of Monica the entire series and never lashed out towards her. I'm not saying she is the best character ever, but I think viewing the character this way make sense.

Most of the time she just acts like a ridiculous whore but I appreciate you pointing out the nuance. It's helpful.

You're both saying the same thing but I like your condensed version.

OMG!!!!! Somebody found Jimmy and his story “likable”??????

I just figured his family knew somebody personally and got him the show. Worst part of the show bar none for the wife and I.

Monica is second worst but at least she’s filthy hawt.

It is back, and with a bang.. Pun intended.

Knew he wasn't a big part of part 2, just didn't think it was that small.

Can't believe Jamie is still on this side of the grass. Thought Beth would have shown him the Train station by now.
But I guess that is what they've decided to use Part 2 for.

Just watched it. Great opening episode. Always hard to move forward with a show when you lose such an important character to the show and one of Costner's caliber on screen. I really had no idea how that was gonna go. Loved it. Wow. Favorite line:

"You do it once, and you're being nice…you do it a second time, and you're being a petting zoo. This ain't no f***ing petting zoo..."

Complete snooze and tune out... You just can't take him out like that. And you had to get in the room and get a deal made to get that moment on screen

My question is, did they just rewrite the entire season? There must have been a script in place BEFORE the Costner exit.

I felt the episode was pretty solid.

When they showed a faceless Costner on the ground in the bathroom, my wife and I immediately thought of his faceless body (uncredited role I believe) at the beginning of The Big Chill. I'm hoping that was intentional by Taylor Sheridan.

And Rip is always the best. Always liked Cole Hauser going back to School Ties.

I wondered the same thing. If Costner had no other obligations this series would end very differently I'd assume. I could be wrong but I have read this is the series end.

Rip is my favorite character on current television. He about to go postal on his enemies.

Wife and I love this show. This was a great episode and it’s great to be back.

Should be a rip roaring end to what IMO was a throwback to the days of night time soaps like Dallas and Dynasty X100.

Yellowstone is a guilty pleasure.

It's a good thing Jamie left the door open, or those slaps would have been a bigger 👊

Casey is calling in his team, and the wench and schemer will not see it coming.

One thing I absolutely hate is this time jumping crap.
We don't care what happened before John's death, stick to the now.

Agree on the time jumping, threw me off at the start. Man I love this series though. Wonder if Landman they are pushing on us will be worth the watch.

Seeing as it is on Paramount+ I won't see Landman till CBS reruns it :kicksrock:

That was my favorite character kill off in quite some time, even if I saw it coming as soon as she started slamming the Vodka.

Turned to wife and said, "she's dead, loose end". Then the car pulling up next to her, although it was a nice twist to have a "sweet" wife and husband be in the car to try and make you second guess.. Then BOOM. :bye:

The beginning talk with the Chief was depressing as they discussed the end of Yellowstone as we knew it. :sadbanana:

Yep. Was hoping for a few more her and Beth scenes together, but oh well. Bye Felicia. Jamie is such a horrible TV character. He needs to die.

Felt they should have had multiple cars pass by in the background. It was so obvious.
Sucks to see he go. Great eye candy.

Dam, many depressing parts this part 2.
Colby sacrificed himself and the fallout was :frown:
Tetter, Rip, his best friend and the kid have a lot of recovery to do in only two episodes.

Guess they are waiting for the series finale to take out Jamie.
Hopefully is a very long, slow, painful ride to the train station.

Anyone else pick up on the preview for next week? They said one more episode until the SEASON finale. Theoretically, wouldn’t they have said the series finale if the show was ending?

Thought that too. My guess is they are keeping things open to do a spinoff or two (kind of what they did with Walking Dead). Things like Casey and family, Rip/Beth, Texas ranch, etc.

These shows make too much money and are basically big advertisements for all of Sheridan’s businesses.

Sucks to see he go. Great eye candy.
Funny, she appeared in the most recent Special Ops: Lioness episode (Amber) and I probably would not have recognized here except for her voice. Maybe she gets an episode in Landman next week

How is Landman by the way? Anyone watching?
I am. Billy Bob is fantastic. The daughter is half naked all the time. Almost annoyingly. Hamm plays, well, Hamm.
It's been pretty good. Just not sure it has staying power.

I may hop over and start Lioness. Keep reading how good it is.

Watched the last couple of eps. Man, this show is so bad. The last episode with less Beth was a positive for me at least. I'm just hoping that Tate doesn't get kidnapped or worse these last couple of episodes. Casey threatened the guys family. That's a no no and there will retribution.

Side note, I really want to punch that Texas Cowboy boss in the face. He may be the most arrogant character in TV history. Why is he even there. They should have just brought Jimmy back north imo.

Roy Kent did it better. 😀
