"Bobby Engram remains frustrated with his contract and is now threatening to sit out Seahawks training camp.

Engram set a team record with 94 catches in 2007, but because of his age (35) Seattle is likely hesitant to extend his contract. He has not attended voluntary work. "It's a possibility," Engram Sunday said of skipping camp. "We'll see what happens. I think that everyone is in agreement that I've outplayed that deal." Coach Mike Holmgren has been confident that Engram will show, but hasn't spoken to the receiver since early last month." -Rotoworld

I love these guys who finally have strong season and think that they need top contract in the league. No doubt about it, he had a great year setting team records. But if that is how players expect contracts to work, I would love to see the other side of the coin...if they don't produce, then their contract gets restructured at the end of the year. If they want a performance based contract, then it should be both ways.

Until/Unless the league guarantee's player contracts this is how the league will run. What do you think happens to a player when he performs well below his current contract?

At 35 Engram is trying to get as much $$$ while he still can. While I don't like holdouts it really is the only thing he can do.

This was my thought as well. If bobby engram goes back to being well Bobby Engram in 2008, he there is a better chance that he is out of the league in 2009 than anyone givng him anything significantly more than the veteran minimum.
