Yo!, Sam LaPorta (1 Viewer)

What in the world happened to him in DET? One catch two weeks in a row? Two or less targets in half the games this year? Is he hurt? Are defenses taking him away? Is DET just not using him? Saving him for the 2nd half of season?
He was 86-890-10 last year to on pace for 39-625-2 this year.
IDK if I should try to trade him, doesnt seem like a good time for that, hold on to him for dynasty seems logical, cant start him(Kittle thankfully).
Lions are 5-1 so its not like they are doing things wrong. Could he be over?

I keep hearing "so many people to spread the ball around to" but LaPorta has been great when they do throw it to him. Now that's a grand total of 3 targets in the last two games. But they are scoring a ton of points, so hard to point fingers. But definitely sucks for FF. I traded for him two weeks ago when I thought I was buying low

Biggest fantasy disappointment this year?
If we are not using an injury caveat nothing is quite comparable to paying 1.1 for CMC and hoping he's going to make his season debut in week 10.

If we are looking at the non-injury related busts he would be the winner in the leagues I play, which are TEP, where he was going top 15. The runner up would be Kelce and if not for Rice's injury opening up his usage I think he'd have won. Olave, even before his concussion, and Kincaid would have been other two in the convo to me and these players all had round two ADP's in the format I play.

Only reason Andrews is not in that group was because he was just a little cheaper with an ADP in early round 3.

Long story short, at least in my leagues, I'd consider 4 of the top 5 non-injury related busts to be Olave and 4 TE's.

Weeks 1-4 I would say the hamstring injury he was dealing with in TC. He was clearly not himself when the season began. There have been a few plays that look like “boy that’s usually a Sam route” that went to someone else. Why? Because the coaches want to run the play with the guy who had done the reps.

Post bye week, when he’s 100% & they had extra time for installs, 3 targets in 2 weeks….

Yeah, that is a total mystery.

Still a highly effective player, but obviously they have about 10 of those rn.

Rachaad White
Patrick Mahomes
LaPorta

Huge disappointments.

Tyreek Hill is 17-164-0 combined in his last 5 games...in the past that was a good week for him.
True, but he is so dependent on Tua. Didn’t realize just how important and good Tua is until I see studs like Hill and Waddle struggling mightily without him.
I'd say it's more that their backups are just THAT bad.

Agree it is because of Tua but that doesn't change what the stats are.

I started Blank Dell and Sad LaPorta yesterday

1) Jahmyr Gibbs covers a multitude of sins
2) the poor ******* playing me started Aiyuk (4.30) Downs (1.82) Dustin Hopkins (-1.00) NYJ DT (-1.50)

That’s hard to fathom

I’m up 40.6, we each have 2 more going tonight

Other contenders: Mahomes and Stroud are bad QB2’s in PPG. Lamb is healthy and WR18 in PPG and he went #1 in some leagues. Pittman WR43, Aiyuk WR52 and now out.

LaPorta is up there for sure.

Travis Etienne was supposed to be the safe option at RB. He's likely lost his starting job. Rachaad White is in a similar boat.

While he wasn't a super high pick, Calvin Ridley has been completely worthless since week 2. No matter how deep your league is, someone better was on waivers.

Great call on Etienne. He went in round 2 of most leagues.

I took LaPorta at 2.01 in a rookie draft for dynasty last year, and was overly happy. Bijan in rd 1, and Puca in rd 10. What a draft!
In their 2nd year, LaPorta is useless, Puca played a half(might be back next week), and it seems maybe recently Bijan is becoming the RB he should.
Not selling any of them, but delusions of grandeur certainly did exist this offseason. Still 5-2, and getting Puca back will be big.

One of those situations where fantasy severely departs from real life. Detroit has so many weapons and a great OC who is running circles around defensive coordinators this year - over 400 yds and 30 points per game. He'll use LaPorta when he needs him.
