Details just coming in. Yes, it requires a stunning level of naivety to get this far. Yet here we are. I'll answer whatever questions I can. She's coming to me for advice at this time to work her next move.

She took a marketing job where they travel the country, peddling crap to raise awareness for whatever disease. Supposed to get paid weekly. Two weeks in, no $ yet. Her co-worker has been footing all the expenses with the promise of reimbursement. Their boss just quit, apologizing and saying she just found out what a scam it all is.

I'm just stunned a person could ever fall for such nonsense. Quit, cut losses, contact attorney seems to be the smart play here, no?

Young, naive, adventurous, broke? I'll take a PM with some pics. My buddy and I just started a production company that pays up to $3000 cash for "acting" in short films. It might be right up her alley.

Ton of these jobs ITE. Anyone who tries to sell you wax or sports drinks outside of a gas station. Anyone who tries to get you to refinish your cabinets in Home Depot. Anyone who goes door-to-door. It's all MLM with the promise of owning your own company one day. Smart Circle is one of the bigger ones.

ETA: A lot of people "fall" for these scams. There's a promise of hard work equaling results. Sure, that's a broken promise but for people with a degree and no career options...it's easy to get sucked in.

By footing all expenses, I mean they've traveled various cities and booked airfare/hotels. Without being reimbursed yet. They asked about payroll and the con artist informed them they're on a bi-weekly payroll, which is why they haven't been paid yet. But as soon as they send in their latest $$ made from the latest location they'll get on that.

Happened to me when I was right out of college. I was pretty pissed but at the end of the day, all it cost me was 1 day and a tank of gas. Whatever

Her Co worker is hot and they go own to the next travel city and that city happens to be hosting a world health committee meeting so all rooms are booked. They now have to share the same bed....

your turn

They have about 5k worth of product. Seems this is the best solution. Sell crap, recoup most of the money, learn a lesson.
