Your Fantasy Team or Your NFL Team? (1 Viewer)

It's your fantasy Super Bowl, week 16. Your #1 RB is going to get the ball at the goaline. If he scores a TD you win your local fantasy league and $400. But in the process he knocks your favorite NFL team OUT of the playoffs. And you had won playoff tickets in a local contest so you would be at the playoff game IF your team makes it. Be truthful,do you want your fantasy team to win,or do you want to be at that playoff game for your Favorite NFL team?

Honestly Im a big NFL fan but don't live or die with any team so I would go with my fantasy team. I do bleed maize and blue though so if we were talking college football the answer would be different.

These threads come up every year.....but nice added twist!

NFL team without hesitation....FF is just a hobby....I've been a fan much longer and would give up FF before givin up being a fan...And agree with jandy about college, except I bleed orange and black....see you on Sept 12th jandy!

I have more than one FF team so I'm siding with my Bears. It can be a tough choice but to me it's just win win.

NFL team every time. Seeing your team in the playoffs is something special (take it from the guy who hasn't seen his team in yet this century)...just my opinion.

It has to be a lot more than just $400 for me. If it was like $5000 to $10000 then it is more competitive. That isn't enough to make much of a difference. I would say my favorite NFL team because you are invested in that team no matter what. When your fantasy season ends you will have a new team next year.

NFL team. Then sell the playoff tickets, get 2nd place $$$. That would be more than the $400 and my team is in the playoffs too.

And you had won playoff tickets in a local contest so you would be at the playoff game IF your team makes it.
This is the key. Assuming I got 2 tickets and the Titans got home field for week 1, I'm going with the NFL team.

Not even a question. NFL team all the way.

This question obviously depends on the details. For $400, I'd take my team in the playoffs for sure.... with free tickets to game, that's a no brainer. Who wouldn't buy playoff tickets to see their team play for $400?

What if it was your team wins the super bowl or $1000? No tickets to the game... THAT would be a tough call haha

Bills in the playoffs for sure. Plus, tickets it would probably take a lot of money for me to even reconsider.

If you're really concerned about the money...chances are those tickets you won are going to be worth more than $400. If they're decent seats and/or your team hasn't made the playoffs in awhile, they might sell for close to $400 each.

Personally, I'm in a lot of leagues so there's a decent chance that a play that helps me in one game is going to bone me in another, the $400 isn't life changing for me, and I already have season tickets (and have purchased playoff tickets each year they've been available).

NFL team although if we were talking serious money I would be tempted to take the cash. It really depends on how much money vs how I thought my NFL team was going to do once they were in the playoffs.

Yeah, with the tickets the money is nearly a wash. Without the tickets, it almost (but not quite) boils down to "Would you pay $400" to send your team to the playoffs. I wouldn't, but I know a lot of guys who would. Plus, the "not quite" is the satisfaction/bragging rights you get from winning your league. If you think about it, that's a scenario where YOU did something to be proud of, vs taking pride/satisfaction in something a group of other dudes did. So I could make the case that even WITHOUT the money, I'd "prefer" to win my own league. I'm sure I'd be in the minority on that, but truth be told at this point I'm more of a fantasy fan than an NFL team fan, though I still "root" for my guys. Just not a die-hard.

Easy answer. Go Bills.

Playoffs would be a cool thing to remember.

I've been a season ticket holder for 11 years now (30 years old)

I think it would need to be $10k

I would easily take the real NFL team playoff. I have never been to an NFL playoff game. I would take my son, and both of us have that memory forever over a measly $400 fantasy football payoff any day.

I would rather win my FF league than see my NFL team win. Me winning is more important than guys I do not know winning.

Unless its like the $1mil fan duel thing... Packers every time.

For a mil...I'm fine if they lose a game.
Yea ... I don't care about a few thousand to see the Packers advance. My threshold would probably be like $10,000. At that point I'd take the cash and start looking towards the off-season. That view has changed in the last decade ... coming out of college it might have been $100 ;)

I think a lot of you guys have more money than I do. ;)

I have trouble believing that so many of you would just fork over 2K or whatever just to put your team over the hump in one game if you REALLY had that as an option.

At $400, I would take NFL team. Money is the Key, $2,500 or more for win, I would take Fantasy.
Yeah, there is a line and $400 is certainly below it, especially if the tickets to the playoff game are worth that or more.

If we start talking about enough money to buy a car, I'd say "better luck next year Titans".

There are other factors to consider here. Did you do well in your other fantasy teams? If you already won big in other leagues you might not care that much for an extra $400.

Ask a pro DFS player what they would do with $400 and they will laugh. A pro DFS player can make $1000 a week on average.

Believe what you will ... some of us make six figures and a few thousand for one of our favorite hobbies once a year (seeing an NFL team advance) isn't that big of a deal.

Think about it ... I paid over $700 in travel and ticket costs to get to Lambeau to watch a playoff game, and that was just to watch the game, nothing guaranteed. What's another $1k to see them get closer to the Super Bowl?

I honestly dont care much about sports unless there is money involved.

So even if the pot was $5 I would rather my fantasy team wins.

Packers season ticket holder

Packers need 2 wins to get into the playoffs? What says they even win week 17 to get in the playoffs?

You give up a fantasy championship to watch your team who must have sucked (if they are getting knocked out in week 16) lose in week 17 and you lost your fantasy championship as well as your NFL is not in the playoffs.

In the end good thing the Packers are always in the playoffs lately...

Can an NFL team that would be eliminated week 16 really be guaranteed a playoff spot with that win when they still have to play week 17? I don't buy it.

Yes,if that team is one game behind the team about to score the TD and is on the short end of a tiebreaker situation with that team, they would be eliminated.

In your scenario, NFL team easily for me.

But the sad reality is that our fantasy teams are our real teams and our NFL teams are our fantasy teams.

That's the better question IMO.

How much $ would you have to win in FF to prefer your FF team winning over getting free tickets to watch them play in the wildcard round? Follow up question would be to have tickets and free travel to all their playoff games and the Super Bowl (and have them make it to the big game).

For me, it's somewhere around $1,000 for the one playoff game.

Maybe $15,000 for the Super Bowl experience.
