Your favorite and most hated teams (1 Viewer)

Since this forum is pretty new and I don't know who everyone folows yet I thought I'd do this simple breakdown so we can more easily "discuss" baseball when teams meet during the season. I often visit the Indians, REd Sux, and White Sux threads just to say :bye: and to let them know I care.

Favorite: Detroit Tigers

Hate: White Sux, Red Sux, Indians, and Twins

Really don't care for: Yanks, Orioles, Blue Jays, Royals

Indifferent to: Everyone else including the entire NL

Indians and White Sux are regional rivalries, always hated the Red Sux for a number of reasons, and Twins have always been a thorn in the Tigers' side. Interesting thing with the Indians is that although this is probably the most natural rivalry based on proximity, the franchises haven't been good at the same time since probably the 1940s. For a long time the Tigers were always pretty good and the Indians always pretty bad and when the Indians finally got to be respectable in the 90s, the Tigers were awful.

The AL Central is actually getting fun now with four good teams and all franchises with pretty loyal fan followings. Add in the Red Sox and Yankees even though we only get to sdee those teams twice a year, and it makes for a lot of entertaining :goodposting:

Favorite : Atlanta Braves

Dislike : New York Yankees, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles

Beginning to Dislike : Boston Red Sox

Favorite: Cleveland Indians

Hate: White Sux, Red Sux, Tigers, Yankees, and Cubs

Really don't care for: Orioles, Twins, Royals

NL team I root for: Cardinals

Favorite: Cleveland Indians

Hate: White Sux, Red Sux, Yankees

Really don't care for: Twins, Orioles, Tigers, Royals, Reds

Indifferent to: Everyone else

Favorite: Cubs

Hate: Mets, Red Sox

Really Don't Care for: White Sox, Astros

Indifferent: Everyone else.

I've always hated the Mets because Cubs-Mets was a big rivalry when I was growing up and the Mets were always better. Cardinals and Cubs are biggest rivals but generally speaking, the Cardinals are a world class organization so I don't hate them.

Used to hate the Yankees but the Red Sox fans have gotten to me lately with their non-stop whining so they've replaced the Yankees.

Favorite: Mets

Second Team: Astros (been in Houston over a decade)

Hate: Yanks, Braves

Really Dont Care For: Red Sox

Indifferent: Everyone else

The Yankees should either be a favorite or hated. And if the Sox fans dont stop they're going to be in the same category soon.

Favorite: Twins

Kinda Like: Indians, Yankees, Brewers, Cardinals

I root for the other teams in the AL Central to lose but not sure there's a team I "hate". Btw- Started "liking" the Indians in the mid 90's when the Twins were brutal.

Favorite: Yanks

Hate: Red Sox (was the Royals in the late 70's/early 80's)

Don't Dislike: Twins, Cardinals, Pirates, Phillies, Dodgers.

Won't root for: Anyone else.

 If the Royals ever figure out how to get good it'll be a war. Once the Twins get a real stadium (2010 it opens) even the division's ball parks will be great.

Favorite: Dodgers

Also pull for: Angels; Orioles

Hate: Giants (of course); Yankees; Mets; Padres; Braves

White Sox: I turned coat on the Cubs in 2000 when my son was born and it was the smartest sports decision I ever made. I never hated the White Sox during my young and dumb years, the Cubs were just the team I was raised to cheer for. As I grew older and wiser, I saw that my dad was wrong about a lot of things. Which local baseball team to cheer for and there being a god were two of the big ones.

Closet fan of

Brewers: My dad took me to game 3 of the 1982 World Series, I've had a soft spot for them since.

Reds: Always loved seeing the highlights of the Big Red Machine and the '75 WS during rain delays

Hated

Cubs: While my dad was nice enough to take me to game 3 of the 1982 World Series, he was one heartless mother ####er for raising me as a Cubs fan. To think that I wasted 30 years of my life rooting for the POS organization.

Cardinals: Outside of an unhelthy hatred of Mark Grace, the St Louis Cardnials is the only thing that I still can't stand because of the years I was a Cubs fan. The only time I will wish them well is when it inflicts pain on the Cubs

Edit to Add since I just saw Funkley in here

Minnesota Twins: Outside of Santana, there's just nothing to like about them. Torii Hunter's a punk, Kirby Puckett was a wife beater, the ballpark sucks and Kent Hrbek pushed Ron Gant off of the ### ####ed bag!!!!!

Dislike Biggio, but will root for the Stros?
Sure. I live in Houston and go to 4-5 games per year. I'll root for the home team. Actually, Biggio is from my home town on Long Island too. I liked him just fine until about 4-5 years ago...him and Bagwell. I just really can't stand guys that hang around to try to pad stats and garner individual accomplishments. Baseball's a team game, imo.

Favorite: Yankees......

Follow/Enjoy: Phillies......

Dislike: NY Mets........

Hate: Noone really. I don't hate Boston. The city is too much fun, the ballpark is too old school great and the fans are very knowledgable baseball fans. It's only been with the advent of the Wild Card that I even really started keeping an eye on the RedSox. While I don't want the team to really do well, I don't hate them. I view them as I would the Orioles and Cards: people I know like them so naturally I don't want them to be happier than me.

I like old baseball towns and will always root for an old school club over a lame expansion one.

Favorite: Kansas City Royals - born and raised in KC, and I am just old enough to remember when they were good, so I have to claim them.

Hate: Red Sox and Cardinals

Really don't care for: Angels, Twins, White Sox, Yankees

Teams I am a closet fan of: Athletics - To most, that is probably crazy....seeing as they stiffed KC back in 1968 when they moved to Oakland, and the Royals had a good rivalry with them for a long time....but I like the way they have built their club.

NL team I root for: Chicago Cubs

Last 2 years he's been padding, but prior to that even though his production had dropped in many respects he was still one of their better options.

Favorite: Tigers

Dislike: White Sox(since Disco Demo night), Yankees, Red Sox fans

Don't mind seeing lose: Twins, Indians, Orioles

NL teams I root for: Diamondbacks, Braves

Team: Boston Red Sox

Loathe (Hate's too nice a word  ): Yankees, Mets

Dislike: Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Baltimore, Atlanta (I hate the TBS broadcasts...)

Closet Fan: Cubs thanks to WGN

Favorite team: Giants

Loathe: satan's minions from the city of angels

Dislike: Padres, diamondbacks, rockies, yankees, white sux, braves

closet fan: A's, Cardinals, cubs, red sox (but not lately)

favorite: Indians

dislike: Blue Jays, Yankees, Tigers, Orioles, Red Sox, Brewers.

I grew up when the Indians were in the AL East. It STILL doesn't feel right to be in the same division as the White Sox, Twins, and Royals. To this day I don't feel the rivalry there.

Albert Belle bat gate.Albert Belle being signed by the White Sox.

Tribe / White Sox coming down to the final series in Cleveland in '05 and the Sox knocking the Tribe out of AL Central and Wild Card race with a sweep.

White Sox and Tribe finishing 1-2 almost every year between '94 and 2000. Sometimes it was a distant 2nd for the White Sox, but the tribe were still always the team they were chasing.

I think the White Sox and Indians have developed a great rivalry in the 13 years they've been in the same division

Closet fan....nice category addition. Mine would be the Mariners I guess since I really dug the pitchfork hats since I was a little kid. Plus I'm a Seahawks fan so I guess for some odd reason I at least somewhat like all the Seattle teams.

I also forgot to throw the Nationals in there. Since I plan to move to D.C. in the coming years and can't root for the Orioles, the Nats are my NL team. I don't follow them too closely now but I do plan to be a passive fan once I move with a level of interest compariable to my following of Maryland football (alma mater) which is moderate at best. I need a place to watch games though and unless the Tigers are in Baltimore, I have to have something since I've lived away from major market pro sports for most of the past 15 years. Won't be rooting for any other area teams though since I have University of Maryland sports to get me through the other seasons. :lmao:

Agreed, they've built a good rivalry in the short time they've been in the same division. BGP usually has opinions that I would say are in the minority. Nothing wrong with that, just the way it is.

I agree. I notice much more of a rivalry with the AL Central teams than the Twins had with the AL West teams. The Detroit/Chicago/Cleveland games are often played like playoff games no matter when they occur. I expect these 3 games with Cleveland to be like that.

Favorite- Twins

Dislike- Yanks, White Sox

Indifferent- NL

I'm surprised by all of the Twins hate. I know I'm a fan but compared to other teams they seem to play hard and over achieve.
