Your Favorite Saints Player Wasn’t Warming Up For Practice Under Dennis Allen (1 Viewer)

They call it an “activation” period. Darren Rizzi, interim coach, calls it “a fancy way to say warming up."

So they weren’t even warming up. Holy smoke. This has earned Allen some interesting comments on Twitter/X.

Were the players then not warming up on their own?

Not defending Allen here, but I'm also not understanding why apparently the players weren't warming up themselves before practice started.

It wasn’t mandatory. You’d generally like to have that sort of stuff be official and be supervised by a strength conditioning staff, which wasn’t happening.

I would've just assumed that warming up is the first thing you do within the period called "practice", didn't know they were considered separate things.

Both these comments could be true at the same time, no? I'd think the players would warm up on their own because they want to take care of their bodies and, that every player has an in-season conditioning regimine. I'd think the HC would be involved in some kind of way because, well, he's the HC.

I think it says a lot about the HC when players are not even invested enough in the team to even want to warm up, if that is really the case.

Absolutely. I’m not correcting Zow; I’m sort of affirming what he’s saying. I would just have liked to see it be taken a step further and have it be, as eighsse2 says, part of practice writ large. Now it is.

Makes you think about Kendre Miller and his balky hamstrings.
