Tried to include a lot of the names from this thread. Tried to limit it to people who were still alive and functioning (sorry, no Cosell). If the person you want in the position that you want is not listed above, please post them below.

Vote away!

(BTW, let it be stipulated that this is in no way a perfect poll. Bite me.)

Play by Play -Ray Scott (maybe the best of all-time)

Color - Howard Cosell (definitely the best of all-time)

Analysis - Steve Young

Cosell's gonna be a tough get. Isn't Scott dead, too?
He asked my ideal MNF broadcast team, he didn't ask for someone alive. Hell, most of what they put in the booth today aren't alive either.
QUIT LIVIN' IN THE PAST, MAN! ;)Of course, I wish some of the MNF crew were dead (well their careers at least), so I'd still prefer your lineup. :)

Ian Eagle

Ron Jaworski

No 2nd guy until either McNabb or Peyton retires - then pick one of them (though, maybe give Favre a tryout)

Erin Andrews

Hey, I did pick one current guy (Steve Young) ;)

Has Thorne ever done football? Hes a great play by play guy

Of all the names listed above, only three of them have gotten no votes. Ouch.

Little surprised at the runaway nature of the play-by-play race. . .

Play by play -- Mike Patrick He does bring a certain enthusiasm when he's doing a college game, and seems to enjoy doing his job.

Color -- Jaws. I want a guy who can break it down and do it in the 40 seconds between plays. I think he could do that.

Sideline -- Melissa Stark...just for JoeB. :applepolisher: ;)

GREAT THREAD IDEA!!!!!!!!!

I chose:

Al Micheals (thought he and Madden were a good pair)

Madden (see Micheals)

Jaws (He's a wealth of knowledge, and doesn't overdue it)

Bonnie Bernstein (I think she's hot and has a lot of sports coverage experience)

Did I mention that I think Bonnie Bernstein is hot? OK, yeah...thought so.

Hello friends......could there......be anyone......more annoying......than Jim...Nantz............?

Those were my picks. Michaels is the best.ETA: Bernstein=very hawt

I don't care too much about most of the people listed, expect Jaworski MUST be in there. The guy is the only commentator that I've learned something from almost everytime I hear him. He knows his stuff and never talks out of his ###.

:goodposting: Jaws has a certain appreciation for the offensive game that I think Michaels/Madden lack. It would be a great complement to their team.If i have to do Sideline, i would go Sal Palantonio (sp?) for information purposes. If i have to go on a hotness factor, any decent looking hooker will do.

Keith Jackson having so few votes is a crime. Granted he's been mostly the voice of college football in recent times, but seriously, he's probably been one of the, if not THE, best football play by play announcers of all time. I mean, less than half the number of votes as Bob ####### Costas?!?!? I bet a million bucks that Bob ####### Costas would vote for Keith Jackson over himself in this poll. It makes me sad.

I agree. Jackson is good. While I'm at it, let me add that my picks from my initial post (Michaels, Madden, Jaws) are by far the ones I'd like to see most. I also really like Aikman, Nessler, Vermeil (assuming **** knows something about teams outside the AFC West).

Mike Patrick, Paul Maquire and Joe Theismann...
Now that was funny, you're such a kidder :D
Why would you think I am kidding?
Probably because Theismann is God awful. He's arguably the worst color guy on TV. If someone does a poll for worst color guy he'll win.
Good poll idea.Joe T. would win.Could we give negative points so he could win, errr lose by the biggest margin.

There is nothing more enjoyable than listening to the Bengals radio team...Brad Johanson and Dave Lapham work great together and call it like it is. Lapham is a freakin nut and I love it. He actually does many college radio/tv broadcasts IRRC.

I had an NFL broadcast in mind when making my choices. I went with:Nessler or Michaels (both equally great), Aikman (finally getting recognized for his talent - a natural), and Stark. However if this was a college broadcast I must have Keith Jackson. Some of my fondest memories from childhood were watching OU - Nebraska games each year with my family. Those memories would not be the same without KJ.

Kevin Harlan (animated voice)

Steve Tasket (you can picture the smirk/smile on his face while listening)

Mike Greenberg (thought provoking questions and won't wear old/grate on nerves after 2 games like Kornheiser).

Bonnie Bernstein (good looking but more tha a pretty face that can cover football or basketball = street cred).

I'd love to see:

PbP - Keith Jackson - Well, just because he's Keith Jackson.

Color1 - Jaws - It'd be nice to listen to someone speak intelligently about what is going on in the game rather than argue like little schoolgirls.

Color2 - Dennis Miller - I actually liked when Miller was in the booth. I didn't think he was hilarious, but he got a laugh out of me every now and then. Paired with Jaworski I think he has enough football knowledge to ask the right questions that would probably be close to what I'd be thinking. Something along the lines of 'Hey Ron, did you see what he just did? That didn't make sense to me. Why would he do that?" Jaws gives a decent answer and we all learn something. Plus Miller seemed to know he was in there to offer more of a 'fans perspective' and didn't try to one-up or sound as if he had more football smarts than the other guys.

i say the NFL LIVE CREW. WINGO, SALSBERY, and SHLERITH. why would the NFL live crew get consideration when it is on ESPN???? gotta be better than korndinger :wall:

Enberg and Jackson are 2 of the best ever, but don't belong on MNF. You could more or less flip a coin from the rest.

Color commentator is easy, Jaws, because he would do this radical thing of analyzing the game and not be a goofball.

No extra commentator because it just promotes more goofiness.

No sideline reporter because it's painfully stupid. If I hear one more token female recounting something totally uninteresting she bothered a coach about during halftime or "interviewing" some bonehead player who's blathering on and on about something I couldn't care less about - all while the actual game is going on no less - I'm gonna hurl.
