Your Worst Dynasty Drops? (1 Viewer)

Looking back through the years I've made some great WW pickups. But I've made some bad drops (I tend to turn and churn more than most the last 2-3 spots on my bench).

Recently, Doug Baldwin. He was, at the time, the epitome of a WR 4/5 and I needed a home run. I have Lockett as well. Think I'm going to regret that one.

Who were your worst drops in dynasty?

I once owned Terrell Davis, Marshall Faulk, Jamal Anderson, Ricky Watters, Stephen Davis, and Tiki Barber in Dynasty. Cut Barber and Davis after they did nothing their rookie years to make room for the next year's newbies. Oops.

More recently, I owned Allen Hurns on every team I owned. Dropped him from all 3 before the season started. Oops.

Dropped Arian Foster right before he emerged back in 2009 (Actually drafted him that year on a hunch). My worst redraft drop of all time: Deangelo Williams 2008, after being a dud the first 4 weeks I wrote him off as a bust. Dude who picked him up of course won his only title.

Dropped Allen Robinson last year after he went on IR. Needed the roster spot as I was competing for a title (which never happened, of course).

Played well as a rookie and thought he'd be solid this year, but never figured he'd blow up.

Year of the startup took Graham 2nd overall (te premium), this was the offseason follow the year Gronk broke his arm.

My last pick in this draft was Julian Edelman. Soon after the draft the Pats signed Amendola. I traded a first for Amendola fully expecting him to be the next Welker, coinciding with this trade I dropped Edelman. Who was promptly picked up week 1 when a dude spent all of his faab budget on him.

That guy just recently traded me Julian Edelman for Jimmy Graham and Danny Amendola.

Just terrible.

Another team dropped Aaron Rodgers after I think a year and a half of waiting. I scooped him right up.

This year a team dropped J Stew, Diggs (who was a rookie pick, but dropped to make roster legal before week 1), and a few others.

Martavis Bryant was my 3rd round pick last year. I had a short bench and bye week issues in about week 6. The news on Bryant out of Pittsburgh at the start of last season hadn't been good so I dropped him. Doh.

Greg Olsen (bears) but it's not my fault and I would punch Mike Martz in the face and knock his stupid ### right out if we ever cross paths. That guy was so ####### stupid.

Held Jordy Nelson and James Jones for years figuring I'd eventually get Green Bay's #2 WR (behind Jennings). Finally got tired of holding right before 2011, so I traded Jones for a rookie 1st (good move!) and cut Jordy outright (bad move!)

Yep. Came in to say I dropped Baldwin at roster cut-down to begin the season. Division rival picked him up for $0. :hifive:

I'm sure there are worse but have always remembered I drafted him in the initial draft late as a flier and later dopped Roddy White after his first two disappointing years with Vick as his QB. Vick got busted and Roddy exploded once they got a passing QB under center.

Demaryius Thomas, drafted him in the rookie draft in the 2nd round. I believe I put him on IR after a week or 2. We have large starting lineups and short benches so I had to drop him do to injuries or bye weeks early in the year in 2011. Right after his first good game when he came back I got outbid for him by like 8 dollars and you all know the rest.

Similar story here. Dropped both of them in May 2011. What's worse, I also dropped Demaryius Thomas that same offseason. :bag:

Dropped Dion Lewis a couple years ago. I dropped Rishard Mathews before the rookie draft this year after Miami had signed Stills and drafted Parker. I dropped Kaepernick a few days before he got his first NFL snaps.

Cut Travis Benjiman... after getting him as a throw in on a trade 2 years ago in a 16 man.. in favor of... Marlon Brown oops

Aaron Donald in a DT required league. No doubt. Everytime I see his name in the stat line, I get sick thinking about it. :yucky:

This was my greatest WW pickup after the original owner drafted and held for 2 years.

Terrell Davis had over 1500 combined yards and 8 TD as a rookie with Denver in 14 games. I remember because he was my first rookie pick that season.

In his first game Davis had 79 combined yards and a rushing TD.

eta - maybe you meant Stephen Davis not Terrel.Davis. He started off as a FB and didn't do much until his fourth season.

Dropped Ray Rice after his unproductive rookie season.

I had watched him play at Rutgers, and knew he had talent, but I figured he'd never get a shot to be the #1 because of his size.

Not the worst but most recently dropped D. Robinson and B. Bolden in multiple leagues to start holding younger talent for next season.

Dropped R Rice mid rookie season after one pretty bad game

Drafted Welker as Mr irrelevant on the possibility of 100 catch season rumors. Dropped him for jerry porter

I remember feeling so good cutting McFadden after week 1 this season. Not that I really needed him anyways, just annoying after sitting on him for years with zero value and he finally gains some value a few weeks later..

Dropped Rawls a few weeks after taking him in a start up this summer to provide protection for Lynch. Some chuckled at the pick as he was just starting to make noise in camp. I read some quote from the coach that Rawls wasn't a threat to Christine's roster spot and cut bait. Someone else grabbed him right away.

This is just the 2nd year in my Dynasty league and we've already had a ton of bad drops (at least they seem bad now).

Dropped to the WW in the past 2 years:

Martavis Bryant

Odell Beckham (before his first game played last year)

Thomas Rawls

Jeremy Langford

Kevin White (I pounced immediately, rest of the league cursed for not noticing)

Dorial Green-Beckham

Denard Robinson

Carson Palmer

Blake Bortles

Justin Forsett

Delanie Walker

ASJ

I think people in my league are too quick to judge, myself included. I dropped Walker, Bortles, Rawls, and Forsett when they were at their lows. To be fair I dropped them for Odell, Kevin White, Palmer, and Austin Stefarian-Jenkins.

Carried Edelman his entire career in one league and off/on in another until dropping him just before he rose to prominence.

Carried CJ Anderson a few years until dropping him right before he introduced himself to the NFL.

This year I managed to drop Hurns in two leagues during the off-season, but apparently I'm not the only one. Did the same thing with Dalton.

Also upset that I dropped Wheaton in a league the week before he something clicked.

Someone in one of my leagues dropped Carr after week 1. I got the e-mail and pounced like a hungry tiger within 5mins of the drop. Had someone else in league message me a few minutes later congratulating me but was upset he missed out.

I can't imagine a set of dynasty league settings which would make it reasonable to outright drop Odell or Kevin White during their rookie seasons.

I don't have a ton of disastrous drops on my record (at least that I can remember). Definitely Diggs this year, Chris Johnson, and Denard Robinson, but all were fairly reasonable given the circumstances. Frankly as far as roster mismanagement I'm much more prone to crappy trades.

The first several years take some time to figure out dynasty IMO. We've been playing for 12 years now. Looking back at early trades and drafts, oof.

Larry Johnson and Aaron Rodgers are 2 that come to mind for me. I might have worse drops that I am forgetting/blocking out.

Dropped Antonio Brown halfway through his rookie year.

Dropped Demaryius Thomas coming back from his Achilles injury when Tebow was named starter.

Dropped Aaron Rodgers his 2nd year.

20-man rosters lead to some premature decisions, and I've certainly made my share. At least with redraft, you can forget about your mistakes. In dynasty you get to continually wince as these guys blow up on other peoples' rosters for the next half decade.

Chris Ivory. I dropped him in a league with Restricted Free Agency, so I got something for him -- but, looking back, wish I had kept.

How does RFA work in your league?
We have a year-round FAAB budget that teams use for offseason auctions and inseason waivers. After the season, you declare 5 players on your roster as RFAs, and there is an RFA period that lasts about a month. If another team bids/wins your player in the auction, the amount of the winning bid gets added to your own FAAB budget. You can also bid/win the player yourself. If he's not bid on by the time that the RFA period ends, you can either add the RFA back to your roster or the player becomes a regular free agent.

I just want to note that as bad as some of these drops are/were, nobody wins by standing pat. As long as you are bringing in new talent at least as fast as you cut slow movers loose, you are better off working the wire too hard than not hard enough.
